I was hoping Vanessa was going to be in the 2002 episode! And she was! I loved me some Nessa! And Leo! Duhamel was a better actor on AMC (and he looked better too, even with the chipped tooth).

Mia was better in the first episode than she is in the second. I liked her better during her first year on the show...she was still sorta mysterious and dark and not the shrill Fusion girl she later became. And plus, I'm one of the few who liked J. Eddie Peck as Jake. Him being toweled through the whole thing doesn't hurt.

Early Kendall/Ryan was some good stuff, really. Both characters were still likable...they were still fresh and didn't have years worth of frustrating history to stand in the way. And oh look, Kendal's Pine Cone room was also Aidan's Pine Cone room when he showed up for the first time several months later.

So glad that only one of these episodes is Zendall-fied. It reminds me that once upon a time, I actually cared about ol' bitchass.

For the first episode, SOAPnet must have taken out the "Previously on..." right? I'm positive that they didn't ditch those until sometime in 2003.

I loved that set too........except for that damn green lamp shade thing. Whenever I see that set in my mind, it's the FIRST thing that jumps out at me. The place that Bianca and Maggie are at...that's the apartment that Greenlee had lived in for a while too, right? I forget if Greens lived there before or after Binks.

Dax Griffin was delicious eye candy in these episodes. I loved Justin's ambitious douchery. He just wanted to kick someone's ass.

Oh my, I loved that Valley Inn room. With all the red, and the striped furniture. It's probably tacky, but I don't care. I fricken miss that room.

I loved Mia when she first joined. I really enjoyed her with Ryan and didnt like that that was cut so short. I also liked J Eddie Peck as Jake, much better than RPG now.

This episode was back when I loved Aidan. He was my favorite male character back then and I hate whats been done with him since. They never should have ended him and Kendall for Ryan

They most likely did take out the Recap. They dont include the Previews as well for obvious reasons

Oh how I loved me some Vanessa too. One of my all-time favorite characters.

Yeah, the green lamp shade was fug --- but the kitchen with those dark appliances, cabinetry, and granite countertops....and the red brick...LOVES IT. And yeah, the Maggie/Binks set used to be and now is again Greenlee's set. If I'm not mistaken, I think that set was first introduced when Dimitri/Gloria were living together post-Dimitri/Erica.

I like RPG, but yeah, Peck was better. RPG gets a little obnoxious sometimes.

Binks's hair at this time was definitely not my favorite style for her. That short 'do, coupled with her perpetual sorrow did not make for an attractive Binks. I was wrong about Binks and Maggie's place...IIRC, the Binks/Greens place was situated on the right side of whatever hallway it was in and was similar to Jack's place, which had been Trey's.

And gosh, they just did a promo for "The View" episodes on ABC.com and I honestly thought that SN was picking up The View.

It was definitely not one of my favorite couples, although villian Dimitri worked for me. Remember the Crystal Ball when he shot Edmund and Tad/Edmund tricked him into thinking he killed his own brother? That was fun...and wasn't there an aquaduct flood back in the day that got MEK nominated when he tried to save Dimitri/Edmund? Ahh, good times.

I preferred Gloria the most when she was first introduced in the Dixie/Craig storyline...and then when she was paired with Adam.

"Did you just say boink?" :D

Greenlee was incredibly annoying here. I hated the Fusion women obsessed with hating Kendall and constantly attacking her. Simone at least had a heart and tried to stick up for her

Watching this episode makes me hate Bianca even more now. There she is lying about being pregnant again and Kendall stepping up and putting her life on the line in order to protect Bianca's secret and her unborn child. Look how she repays her years later with her recent betrayal

I really can't even tell a difference either. When the FilmLook first debuted during the ConFusion grand opening back in 2006, I could totally tell. But I seriously thought they went back to the normal soap look, bc now it's so much different...looks like it did back in these days.

    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
    • There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
    • oh, definitely! It's too bad she hit the start of a rough transition period for the show. She shines, but she's stuck with bad story and some (if not exactly bad) not great co-stars.  Uh, who did Maureen O'Sullivan play? (Sigh--and only if I'd understood exactly who and how wonderful Teresa Wright was in '86) God, the summer of '84 was literally one event after another. Kim's outfit alone must've been worth a small fortune. And poor Maeve. She looks so uncomfortable. Rebecca Hollen told a story on Locher Room where Maeve dropped the f-bomb during the shooting of it. For some reason, she wasn't being listened to, and had just had enough. As a producer, I would've been holding my breath as my pregnant actress kept walking around strange and undoubtably uneven sets in that long skirt.
