DAYS: Discussion for the month of January

I just can't like Dan. He's just so sleazy to me. And I really liked Lucas and Chloe at one point.

It'll never cease to annoy me to listen to Chelsea and Steph talk about their uncle they both have dated and apparently Chels is about to date again.

Today's show was okay, but only because of the engagement party scenes. John, Marlena and Charlotte's scenes were a complete bore and I no longer care about this story, which is a real shame considering we're about to lose two staples of this show in a matter of days.

Also, I don't know if anyone's noticed, but the dialogue has been very poor lately. Today's show was an example of this. The dialogue today, for the most part, was awful. How obvious was it that Daniel and Chloe have something to hide, yet the characters don't notice a damn thing. You have some very smart people in that room, yet no one can notice that Daniel and Chloe are acting the same kind of weird, and are probably sharing the same secret. What the hell?

I think Victor was a little over the top with some of his comments, but they were funny. However, I just think the cranky old bastard needs some ass to calm him down a little bit. The comments were funny yes, but Victor can be used for more than calling Chloe a whore, Lucas an idiot and Nicole a goldigging killer. John Aniston deserves better than that.

And the only thing that keeps me interested in this affair storyline is the pay off, which I'm hoping is all that I expect. I can't wait for Kate to find out that Daniel and Chloe have been going at it this entire time, making everyone around them look like fools for holding them up on pestidals. However, Higley sucks at payoffs, so I'm not getting my hopes too high. But that will be the saving grace for this storyline because the so-called chemistry between Nadia Bjorlin and Shawn Christian, I just don't see, so that's not keeping me invested in scenes involving the two.

I'm not even going to discuss John, Marlena and Charlotte's scenes. Why waste my breath?

It was refreshing to se EJ and Nicole come to the party at Victor's. I was sick of seeing the same old people at that "party," which up until now, was nothing but a family gathering. Again, while I thought some of the things Victor said to EJ and Nicole were funny, and well deserved on Nicole's part, I couldn't help but wonder, why does he care so much to waste his breath on these two? EJ is going to learn on his own that he made a mistake hooking up with Nicole. Victor gave him a warning when he learned that the two were together, but the rest of this is growing tiresome.

The pacing with Philip and Stephanie just all over the place. First, they were moving too fast, now they're moving too slow. Within a couple of weeks of bumping into each other at the bar, they were already having those close moments, nearly kissing and feeling each other out. And then just last week, they were nearly about to have sex, but they stopped. Now, Philip's starting to think of the sexual harrassment accusation and this is affecting him now? This should've taken place a month or a few weeks ago. Here's an example of chemistry between the actors keeping me into the story. Shelley Henning and Jay Kenneth Johnson look great together, but the story is all over the freaking place. It's so annoying.

In complete contrast, the pacing with Max and Chelsea is going just smoothly. I love their little love story progressing, because it's progressing realistically, considering that these two used to date. In a typical DAYS story, two ex-lovers would've already hit the sheets. But the writers are giving the fans actual build up to Max and Chelsea coming together, and I'm enjoying it. I really hope Darin Brooks doesn't go anywhere, although he got that new show. I'm already a Max and Chelsea fan again.

i am loving the max & chelsea story.

i see nothing wrong with the pace of stephanie and philip at all. she became single, and the two started to flirt.. and it went from there. it was just flirting for a bit, then some feelings came, then dates, etc... after etty much dating they almost had sex and decided to wait. now philip is worried... seems like a normal couple to me.

the lucas/chloe/daniel/kate storyline is going ok.

i really want the sami/nicole/ej/babies thing to kick into action now.

and charlotte/john/marlena is ok. loving sandra & dee tho.

Sorry, but no couple is real when they first start working together in like late November tops and are already all over each other in January. It's rushed [!@#$%^&*] like everything on this show. I actually think the Titan stuff with Phillip into Stephanie and trying to ride herd on crazy Melanie and prove himself as Victor's heir is a great idea, but I can't stand Shelley Hennig and the storytelling is just awful. As usual, no couple is "real" to Dena - they are almost always chess pieces for her to move about to fulfill a certain function and service heavy plot (see: Lucas/Chloe, Daniel/anyone, etc), and when they're not that, then they're overexposed and overpropped.

    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!
