No, Patty and Cathy were as different as night and day.  How the police responded today as opposed to how they responded to last summer's riots just proved why POC finally had had enough and got out the damn votes.

Joint session time.

Collins is on CNN saying Trump is only listening to Rudy, Sidney Powell, etc. now. Also says this is what has set off talk of removal and the 25th "in earnest".

And to think I was so hopeful when I woke up this morning. Dems had taken the Senate. McConnell was suffering. Only 2 weeks to go until that rancid yam was gone. I knew the MAGAt rally was happening but I assumed the police would shut it down rather than, you know, open the frigging doors and let them in. And after all of that it looks like nothing is going to happen to Trump save for a few angry speeches and the resignation of the party planning committee. He needs to go. Not just for him but so the next facist down the road doesn't look at this and realise nobody reacts and they can do whatever they want.

The joint meeting of House and Senate go through all the states,
to accept the electoral college votes from each state.
Each state is considered, one at a time, alphabetically.

They had accepted Alabama and Alaska.

Then there were objections to Arizona.

There were objections from both Representatives and Senators.

Therefore, per procedure, the House and Senate split into separate chambers to discuss and vote on Arizona.

Then the mob attacked the Capitol Building and they had to stop.

A few hours later, both chambers resumed sessions.

Both chambers continued separately discussing and voting on Arizona.

The Senate finished first, and they voted to NOT accept the objection.
The House then finished and voted to NOT accept the objection.

Both Senate and House then convened together.
Then they went on to the next state alphabetically

and counted those votes and voted to certify, one state at a time.
The next several states alphabetically were all accepted without objections.

When they got to Georgia, Representatives objected.
Then it was asked if any Senators objected.
The representatives said there had been a Senator ready to object to Georgia, but after the mob attack they no longer had a Senator to willing to object to Georgia.

For an objection to be considered, there must be both a Rep and a Senator.

Because they didn't have that, so Georgia was accepted

They continued with the states alphabetically.

No objections to any of the next several states so all were accepted

-- until they got to Michigan.

The same thing happened with Michigan as with Georgia.

(Representatives objected but no Senator objected). So Michigan was accepted.

Continuing with states alphabetically.

All accepted until they got to Nevada.
Same thing happened with Nevada as with Georgia and Michigan.

(Representatives objected but no Senator objected). So Nevada was accepted.

Continuing with states alphabetically.

All accepted until they got to Pennsylvania.

There were Representatives and a Senator (Josh Hawley) who objected to Pennsylvania.

So now they are doing what they did with Arizona.

The House and Senate are going into separate chambers.

The House and Senate will work simultaneously and separately.
Each chamber will discuss the objection to Pennsylvania's electoral votes.

They allow up to two hours for debate, per the constitution.

Then each chamber will vote on the objection to Pennsylvania.

(We know they don't have enough votes -- but they have to do this now, per procedure.)

After both chambers vote on the objection to Pennsylvania,

then they all reconvene together (both House and Senate in one room),

where they will announce how the House voted on the objection, and how the Senate voted on the objection.

(We know obviously that the objection won't win, so Pennsylvania will be accepted.).

Then the joint Senate and House session will go on to the next state alphabetically.

After Pennsylvania alphabetically, it's not known if there will be objections to any other states.  At this point, the only possibility would be Wisconsin.

I think the part that REALLY gets me is how the numbskulls clearly stormed the Capitol today with no plan beyond getting past the barricades. They didn't remove all of Congress from the building by force or hold them hostage; they didn't establish a new government; they didn't even send out a list of demands. They just broke in, tossed around some papers, took a few selfies, ripped off a bunch of mementos and then went back outside. Like, how is that supposed to reclaim "your" government from us crooked libtards, boo?

So, of course, Matt Gaetz once again lived down to expectations, blaming (without any damn proof) Antifa for the violence on the House floor.  Honestly, it's gonna take several lifetimes to rid Congress of all these jackholes.

That's great. The Senate convened. Agreed to suspend the two hours of debate they're allowed to have. And voted.

Nay votes mean: opposed the objection.

Yea votes mean: agreed with the objection.

Therefore the Senate rejects the objection to the Pennsylvania electoral votes.

------------

MEANWHILE, the House is still discussing, each person is giving a speech.  They could go on for a while before they vote.

The House and Senate reconvened in joint session and both officially reported that they had "rejected the objection" to Pennsylvania's electoral college votes.
Pennsylvania now accepted.

---------------

The joint House/Senate session is now going through the remaining states in alphabetical order.

    • I do not think I have ever agreed with Vee. Normally I do not read him, Ignore ya know. For some unknown reason I clicked to read. And I agree 1000%. Now, this is so odd that I need to go away for a bit.
    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.
