Once a year they change the main couple – currently the show is in its seventh cycle with the triangle consisting of Theresa (Ines Lutz), Moritz (Daniel Fünffrock) and Konstantin (Moritz Tittel) as the major story arc. At first Moritz Tittel played both Moritz and Konstantin, who are twin brothers, but grew up in different families – Moritz in a wealthy one and Konstantin in a poor one – and never knew about each other's existence. Moritz falls in love with Theresa, but at the same time Konstantin appears in town and poses as Moritz because he's jealous of Moritz's life. When Moritz confronts Konstantin, the two men fight and Moritz is presumed dead. In the aftermath, Konstantin takes over Moritz's life. Nobody knows that Moritz is still alive. However, he had to undergo plastic surgery because of his injuries. He returns to town, now played by Daniel Fünffrock, in order to claim his old life back. Herzflimmern, another German soap that's been airing weekdays at 4 p.m. on ZDF since April 2011, received a major overhaul due to its weak ratings last week. Initially called Herzflimmern – Die Klinik am See (literal translation: Heart Flutter – The Lake Hospital), the show is now called Herzflimmern – Liebe zum Leben (Heart Flutter – Love For Life). 55 new episodes have been ordered, but I'm pretty sure that the soap will be cancelled soon. Among them were all members of the Lindner family who dominated the storylines from the very beginning. Three of them can be seen in the final montage of the first opening. Members oltl1 Posted January 21, 2012 Members Share Posted January 21, 2012 In the beginning I loved it! The show had a great mix of high suspense drama and comic relief. Unfortunately, neither the network nor the creator were expecting the show to take off like it did. It was mass hysteria. People would rearrange their schedules to watch this show. I believe I had read somewhere that the show was only supposed to last a year or two, but very late in the game because of its great success, the creator (Nikos Foskolos) was asked to continue with the show (it ended up lasting something like 15 years). It changed the whole pace/flow of the show/stories and a lot of original actors left and were replaced because they had lined up new projects already. The show continued with great success for many years but ran off of a contrived formula. New characters/actors would be written in, a “connection” would be made or forced to an existing character and everything would build to a great confrontation and then start over again with no after math or mention of the past.
