I *think* they will. The Brook/Julia Barr tragedy aside (it's not as bad in terms of the actress because she's not on her last legs) , AMC even at its worse has been good to its vets--keeping the really long term important ones (Myrtle, Palmer, Phoebe for years) on contract even though they often can't work very much--Phoebe got a wonderful episode funeral even though anyone who had watched for the 8 maybe even 10 years before might have wondered who the Hell she was. I suspect Agnes Nixon still being around plays a big part here and I'd worry if she left us (God forbid) before Myrtle or Palmer. But James M actually is looking better recently than he has for years--I love and miss his character too...

I really trace the decline of AMC to the cursed day when they wrote Opal in and turned Palmer from the main villain of the show to this comedic buffoon. The fried chicken story was the straw that broke the camel's back and I quit for a time. I returned to the show to watch Palmer and the nazi treasure and was happy to see him marry again to that evil drug dealing woman, but Palmer was about stories not couples. Opal destroyed his character. I wish more AMC people uploaded classic episodes to YT the way DOOL and GH fans do. I would love to watch Palmer again from his peak period of the 1980s.

You mean the day Opal returned and was paired with Palmer, right? While I agree that the Chicken Shack story was really stupid and demeaned the character quite a bit, I wouldn't say Palmer wasn't about couples. I loved his pairing with Daisy and I think she was always his soulmate, even though she did give Opal a makeover to make her more palatable to Palmer.

I have trouble embedding things from You Tube on here, but one of my MySpace friends, Superposter of the Year, recently posted clips from the July 17, 1984 episode that you can find on there. It features Palmer and Daisy, among others.

I loved Daisy--she made a lot of cameo returns up till '95 or so (the big 25th anniversary when dozens of characters came back for oftne only one or two lines--man that confused me as a 14 year old with no internet to ask who everyone was)--I wonder what Gillian Spencer is doing now--has she written for soaps since she was on AMC's team?

Palmer and Daisy were magic and they are one of the best couples I have ever seen but unlike today when it is all about pairings for fans and "Zendell this" and "JoVan that" and "Jasam for Liason" for GH, Palmer's couples were usually just platforms to get him into a story. Donna was his wife, but the story wasn't really about Palmer and Donna, the couple, but about Donna cheating on him and Palmer being mean. Same for Natalie really, it just was used to get a new story going. It really didn't matter who Palmer was married to as long as it allowed him to be mean to somebody.

    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
