As far as listening to fanbases are concerned....

Look at DOOL's ratings. That's what fanbases have done to THAT show.

and yet Y & R's ratings are rising, with strong fanbases for Lily and Cane, Heather and Adam, Lauren and Michael and Nick and Phyllis.....

again, with out fans there is no need for the show, because no one would watch!!!

the reason's you state for not liking the Nick and Phyllis pairing is what SOAP OPERAS are all about!!! Nick and Phyllis are the modern day Rachel Cory and Carl Hutchins (sorta), bitter enemies that found a common ground and fell in love. You can't pick who you might fall in love with and there is a fine line between hate and love. And Nick and Phylis have seen each other at their worst, during the hunt for Daniel and the trial and the aftermath.

Phyllis is allowed to throw stones, she is a partner in the business, and what Jack and Sharon did effects Phyllis and Nick and Nick's family...also Noah's family ...you remember Noah...Sharon's son with Nick...Noah NEWMAN. Jack only did what he did to "get" at Victor and Phyllis knows that....too bad Sharon does not.

I like the new writers, I like the direction Nick and Phyllis are going in. I like Paul and Nikki together, 20 plus years later...., I like the Newmans coming together in a time of crisis like a real family does. Now if we can just get the Jill is daughter of Katherine reversed and Cane is Phillip III reversed, I will be one happy 35 plus year viewer!!!!

The writing on the show seems to be improving. It will be interesting to see what Victor does do. I PRAY it turns into one huge story. That's what Y&R needs right now.

IMO the reason for Y&R's rating increases has nothing to do with fan bases. The fact is Y&R is telling very good stories that are drawing people in. Y&R has never been a "fan base" type of show, where the ratings fluctuate depending on who is on for the week or who is paired with who. Y&R's greatest strength was their decision to NOT fall into the trap the other soaps did, and allow their fan bases to determine what will or what won't play out on screen.

I was talking about this with some friends of mine on the phone the other day. Y&R usually lets couples run their course. Even if they're not working (ie Brad/Victoria), they play them out until they serve their purpose in the story.

Y&R right is better than it has been in months. There's great character drama (as it has been for months), but there are also things happening and that is what is making the show good.

Who cares if the Phick affair didn't start 6 months after Cassie died, Nick was still grieving for Cassie. At least Sharon didn't sleep with Brad during that time.

Not for me. I hate Sharon with a passion (and don't really need a reason), but I don't blame her for the Phick affair.

When I saw that scene with Phyllis yesterday, it did ring hollow. Not very hollow, but hollow none the less.

She, IMO, doesn't have a real strong leg to stand on when it comes to telling someone how foul they are. You would have to take your shoes off to count the number of times she has done something and either kept it to herself, or blamed the person she messed over for doing what she did.

BUT.......as far as I'm concerned, none of them have the right to throw stones. They ALL have done something foul to each other, and at times, all of them have led the pact one way or the other. Cheating on spouses, framing people for things they didn't do, lying.....hell, that's what makes it interesting.

But, if there is one reason why I have nevr liked the Nick/Phyllis pairing, it is because of all the women Nick could have had an affair with.......he chose the woman who was the mother of the boy he blamed for the death of his daughter, AND the same woman his wife at the time COULD NOT STAND.

Every time I see them, that's what I think of. I can't get past it. That's just me.

But......it will be interesting to see where this heads now that the writing, so far, appears to finally turning a corner (I hope).

I personally don't miss her at all!! but she was good fodder and even when Sharon pushed her over the cliff, it was good for a laugh!!! legs flaring and arms flaring and that stupid hat still stuck on her head!!!! too bad she did not take Sharon on the journey into the afterworld with her!!!

The writing lately has gotten better, still needs some major tweaking and I can't wait to see how Noah coming back as a teenager or "adult" is going to effect the mix, Sharon won't being needing to drop by to tuck him in anymore!!!! and I totally love Chloe messing with LAME!!! classic Bill Bell!!! and Elizabeth Hendrickson is a gem !!!

If Nick and Phyllis feel so strongly about the Sabrina article then why don't they take their share of the profits for the issue ago to Victor and explain that they never agreed to the article changes, but can't change what happened so would like to donate their share of the profits to a charity Sabrina would have supported in her name to make up for waht happened.

Frankly, Nick and Phyllis had every right to be mad at first, but this constant lecturing, especially on Phyllis' part is getting redundant. Not to mention it is hard to listen to Phyllis go on and on about how poorly Jack behaved considering all the stunts she had pulled with little consideration to who would be hurt by her actions.

Still, if Phyllis and Nick donated their share of the profits at least they would be putting their money where their mouths are. Until then, they need to shut up. Jack is being a jerk, but he is the one who is going to look bad. We don't need Phyllis and Nick judging other people's morality.
