Here is the latest on Matthew Ashford's status with DAYS from TV GUIDE Online.

DAYS STAR OUT?

Devotees of Matthew Ashford are worried about the Days of our Lives star. His heroic alter ego, Jack Devereaux, has been having suicidal thoughts ever since he was stricken with an unspecified, mysterious soap illness that supposedly guarantees him a slow, painful death. Worse yet, he drove his car off an icy bridge last week. In today's episode, Jack's wrecked auto will be dredged out of the river — and no body will be found inside.

So, has the NBC sudser sacrificed Ashford and his classic character just to push Jack's saintly wife, Jennifer (Melissa Rivers) back into the arms of ex-boyfriend Frankie (Billy Warlock)? Is this the bitter end of Jack and Jen's love story? Don't bet on it. "What we are able to say is that Matt is still a contract player," a Days rep tells TVGuide.com. "We can't give any specifics. Sorry!" Guess we'll just have to stay tuned....

Translation... Matt just got a few weeks off while Days sets up this lame-ass plot. Come on, Days... be original. Or at least try. :D

This storyline still sucks...who care Matt is still on contract. Get him back on our screen!!!

I think most people knew Matt isn't leaving DAYS, at least not yet! If JER's latest triangle is to work at all, Jack has to be an essential part. I wonder, will Jack be kidnapped by the DiMeras again, have amnesia, pretend he's dead for 6 months? Anything's possible from the pen of JER! :rolleyes:

I think they'll have to get him back on screen by Christmas, at least to give the J&J fans something to watch.

I doubt that. I read somewhere that someone high up at NBC Daytime said by Christmas, the fans will now what has happened to Jack, but Jennifer won't.

Well, Actor87,the person you replied said back on screen, not back on screen with Jennifer, so there's no real refuting there :P and I see that happening for sure.
