I'm in partial agreement, Chris, and would have been in full agreement until a few months ago... just recently MAB found a good story for him that suits VI's acting style. If only he'd come on board with such a story... that's why it's such a bummer to me. LML wrote some good stuff (I think she's unfairly maligned sometimes on the boards) BUT she didn't have any direction for David... she ought to have held off on the hire until she had a story (she was eager to grab him before he went to another show, I think).

Most of his time was wasted... but lately... wow... I like the character finally, and the work is very good. A shame it's this late in the game.

At least he seems to have an interesting exit story!

Well I am just glad that others don't see a clear David and Sabrina death spoiler cause I have looked at this promo many times and no where does it seem absolutely apparent who will die. That said, i think CBS is doing a fool-you promo. From everything i've read it is almost certain that Sabrina will die. After pausing the CBS promo (not the youtube one) at :18-:19 it appears that there is most certainly someone else in that limo with David besides the driver. In fact, their editing tricks really give it away that someone is in the limo when it crashes cause they do a big white wipeout. The white wipeout usually hides info from my editing experience (I know a friend who works in post).

The promo itself is nothing earth-shattering but it gives people something to look forward to. Y&R used to always be about "what will happen when this person finds out that.." and the ensuing complications of a big secret.

what I can't understand though is that Raya gave a quick interview to Nelson Branco and she said she had a 3-year contract. I know that those contracts have outs and such, but she seemed tro imply there was much more story to Sabrina to come so IDK!! If she does die, IMO, the show will be far better without her. As a character, there's only so far she can go now. An eventual peace treaty between her and the rest of the Newmans? She has an affair? Her baby dies? No real driving through-line for her but as a martyr she would have a LOT of power and Victor would return to his most nefarious roots and become a menace to anyone he thinks is remotely reponsible to for her death - starting with David but trickling down to all the Newmans really cause they shut him out from knowing about the situation going on between Nikki and David and said it was none of his business. Well if he's the cause of Sabrina's death, you best believe it's his business and he will say that if they had worked together as a family they could have rooted David out of Nikki's life forever and no one would be dead or injured. And the innocent baby dying is just icing on a Vengeance cake!

But there's no doubt that if you like Y&R - you got watch July/August cause it'll either make or break the show. Y&R has hyped this to "Out of the Ashes" -level hype. Y&R can't afford to disapoint people again or their next stunt will fall on deaf ears.

By the way - Bloom's interview with SOW regarding Victor's vasectomy (which has vexxed many a viewer including myself) seems to be a total "oops! we forgot" moment as she says something to the effect of "the writer's are working on it". it's VERY troubling that the new regime would forget such a pertinent detail.

Mark, after reading Pratt's comments regarding AMC... I can only hope David Hayward stays in the far east and FAR AWAY FROM PINE VALLEY! Oh my. But on GH? I dunno... maybe. GL is a sinking ship and unwatchable without dramamine.

Very true... I'm actually hopeful today. For one, I watched AMC yesterday and it reinforced to me that for all it's current flaws, Y/R is still the best soap out there. Things could be worse, LOL.

But also I'm starting to get the feeling MAB has crafted a very well put together story which will tie up a lot of loose ends.. but NOT in the expected or easy(and stupid) way. At least today I think that. The promo is just AWESOME and I'm feeling hopeful... the fact it's probably 'misleading' is part of what gives me hope! I think we have a huge school of red herrings on Y/R right now... and I want to find out what's really going on.

I am optimistic, I think MAB is keenly aware that if she doesn't pull things together she is screwed and the bottom will fall out of Y&R even harder. Here's hoping!

I don't think they forgot. I think they just underestimated how much the fans would care about the history. Big mistake.

What a great promo!!

It looks like two separate cars. David appears to be in a limo and then there is a second car with Phillipe. I do wonder why Sabrina would be with Phillipe, but that is what it appears is going on.

I bet Niki is seriously hurt, but I think it is Sabrina who dies based on Victor's reaction. It will probably last until the following week and then it will match Sabrina's exit date.

I don't think David dies yet. We still have to find his connection to Ji Min's death and I wonder if he killed Skye.

It opens with a still of Cane, Chloe, and Lily, and Mr. Voice saying:

Shot of Lily and Cane all schmoopy and cuddly and Cane saying "Nothing will change between us"

Cut to a still of Nikki, standing.

"BUT WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW..."

Fade from still to a dolled up (for the gala) Nikki looking at David, who says:

"After this night I will be out of your life forever"

Fade to black, fade in to still of Victor, sitting, scowling at the camera

"IS THAT EACH MINUTE..."

fade into Sabrina saying to Victor "Don't do something you'll regret for the rest of your life..."

A series of rapid shots, some too quick for me to see clearly.. drums are rolling...

I think Cane picking Lily and swinging her around.. looks like in their new house? Paul looking over Nikki's shoulder (she's dressed for the gala), Nikki putting her face in her hand..

Chloe and Lily arguing, Cane in background, Lily pointing at Chloe's baby saying "That baby could be anybody's..."

Sabrina either whispering in or kissing Victor's EAR (spare me), with a Nikki voiceover whispering what sounds like "it's gone too far this time..."

Then Jack looking out his door, and Paul's voiceover saying "I don't want you going back to your house tonight.."

Cut to Katharine turning suddenly, Jill putting her hand over her mouth in grief, very quick cuts between Phyllis, Brad looking devious, Michael, Lauren, Adam, and Victoria, as Mr. Voice says:

"THE NATURE OF TELEVISIONS NUMBER ONE DRAMA IS ABOUT TO CHANGE--"

Cut to hands on a steering wheel, desperately turning the car, screeching tires, and a foot flooring the brake pedal.. which does not work....

"-- FOREVER!"

And as the foot is on the brake, then headlights, we hear another whisper which sounds like Nikki saying "oh my god, you're scaring me."

Mr. Voice concludes with: "SUDDEN IMPACT! YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS."

The previews I read said David tries to spike Nikki's drink with morphine. This is devilishly good, if the writers are smart, because of her long-term addiction to PAINKILLERS. If they do this right, David will leave Nikki with a lovely parting gift...a renewed addiction. Melody Thomas Scott always complained that they always rushed her rehab, and never played it on screen. Melody doesn't believe Nikki dealt with her root issues. A renewed addiction, followed by a proper rehab, would be lots of fun. I'd like to see it.

Since Meddine's ouster was announced last week (mid-July), I predict we will see her on canvas until mid-August. So, with that in mind, I have dreamed up a scenario where she DOESN'T die, but where she absconds with some of Victor's fortune and her dignity. So the location shoot in France would be Victor's vengeful global quest to hunt her down and destroy her.

I still wonder where his vasectomy will play into this. We've also all seen spoilers that Sabrina dies in a car crash, but I hope they play this out.

I hope the one who is critically injured with the cardiac arrest is Nikki. I dont' want V&N reunited...but I want Victor to realize how much he still loves her...even if he can't admit it to anyone else.

I think David will realize he is going to die and is about to hit Nikki...so he lunges forward, grabs the steering wheel and hits a tree to save her as his last act.

I think David's link to other crimes will play out AFTER his death, and will cause the now-morphine-addicted Nikki to spiral down even worse.

Well I am finally excited about Y&R now. I am back to Jack needs to go down, I want Nick to win. Its so Phick versus Shack in the Restless storyline which I have my favoirte to win because Jack is cutting below the belt.

Mel is going to rock if they do the addcition storyline and possably Paul the one helping her. I dont want that but it may come to that since Victor will be in his own hell.

I say so long to Elvira because she was not working for me. I am not interested in Cane/Lily/Chloe storyline at all although I want Chole to come out on top. LOL

Are we sure Hogan is writing because usually not a fan of his but loving the stuff I have seen so far.

Yes, you now have me thinking that Sabrina is humiliated at the gala, but not that she dies.

I still think it is Nikki who is injured. It works better if she lives, Victor has *some* reawakened feelings for her (esp. if Sabrina is revealed to be a fraud), and then (as you state) Victor is humiliated by her--a reflection of his imprudence where she is concerned.

I'd love to see him hunting her down...and maybe never finding her...always knowing she stole from him and humiliated him.

But what about that impossible baby? Why isn't Victor outraged that he cannot make babies?
