It's such bizarre whiplash writing - just about three weeks ago we only knew him as this guy who liked Finn and has HIV and was being terrorized by Val...and now suddenly he's a control freak and Finn has to lie about himself to keep him around?

This show has some weird pacing and characterization issues, especially with supporting characters. It's too bad, because I like Darren and I liked him with Finn. And I keep hoping he has another jacket...

Someone in the Aaron/Robert thread at Digital Spy found this...apparently some unsold pilot for the CW in 2010 by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls). This clip also has Sean Faris. There’s an IMDB listing for The Wyoming Story, but oddly enough Ryan and Sean aren’t credited there (more IMDB sloppiness I guess). It is oddly in line with Robert and Andy. I guess Ryan just fits that “type”...

Speaking of Robert, happy birthday to him. I hope he will be there to celebrate his birthday next year too :) He's such a terrific character...I hope they know what they have with him.

They did sort of mention Robert's birthday, but I wonder if they've forgotten Adam's.

For the most part they do try to remember many of the birthdays. I like that about the show. It makes it feel warm and familiar.

Michael Parr laid out on that bed asking 20 questions....LMAO. He's just too fine for words.

Chrissy gets the Boss Bitch of 2015 Award! Shes totally got me on board with her as a character. Lochlan is still a piece of turd but man is his mother a force. I can't wait until she finds out about Robert and Aaron!

Disappointed at Danny Miller not getting shortlisted. It's funny, I was so sick of him in his first run that I almost resented the idea of him winning, and now that I don't mind him, I think I've jinxed him. Well that and I guess a messy love affair with a closeted bisexual who may or may not be on the road to Cameronville doesn't get the positive vote that the endless weeping and sexless, Puritan misery of the Jackson story.

I really hope Natalie Anderson or Michael Parr win, unlikely as that is. If Adam W wins I'll be happy but if that blowfish Danny Dyer wins for being Danny Dyer, I'll be so disappointed.

Not even going to bother with the panel awards and guessing.

I like how Vanessa's reaction to finding out she's pregnant was less shock and more despair. Michelle Hardwick was great in the scene with her three pregnancy tests, tears down her face.

It was also nice to see Emma genuinely try to settle things with Debbie for Pete's sake. It's small instances like this that will make her downfall all the more destructive.

TmWill, I know you mentioned before how Anna Passey would be great on Emmerdale and if the show ever brings on Chrissie's sister, Rebecca, Passey could potentially fit the role like a glove.

BSA - I was more disappointed Kelvin Fletcher and Verity Rushworth weren't nominated, but at least their contributions were felt in the other categories. Since Ryan Hawley is nominated twice, I'll be crossing my fingers extra hard he'll win at least once.

Robert seems about the same as usual to me, just a more extreme version. The only part that seems forced to me is the usual recycled hostility with Aaron to faciliate Breakup #4333. But we're seeing him lose everything so he lashes out more. I hope it leads to him being broken off from Home Farm and having to build from the ground up, which he needs. It would also be nice to see more of him with Andy and Victoria, but who needs that when we can get more of "Locky/Lucky/Lachie" and his crybaby of a mother.

I'm more annoyed with Chrissie and her usual hypocritical cluelessness - not caring that her scheme with Ross could lead mobsters to her door, because, "I didn't hurt my family!" and whining about how she is ashamed to be honest with her father, the rape apologist and hardcore misogynist. She's a pathetic little princess who needs a wakeup call.

I think Aaron still has feelings for him but is trying to push those far down, because of the way Robert has behaved and because of his mother.

I think he and Aaron will stay split up for a while, probably until right before the inevitable affair reveal. Aaron may just be single and try to be fine with it, while Robert is unhappily married and pines. What I'd like to see if Aaron get a new boyfriend (someone who is able to stand up to people, and someone who is effeminate while also being tough and sexual - I'd also like to see a gay actor cast in one of these roles on Emmerdale again...) and Robert work to break them up, and Aaron dates this guy (and slowly starts to fall for him) even as he starts up a love/hate sexual relationship with Robert again. But I doubt the show will do that.

Someone was asking around for iconic moments for each show, for some British soap thing they're doing. I gave them some of mine, but thought you all might be interested in listing some of yours. (in the appropriate threads I mean)

    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
