Bianca's best friend when they were teens. She had an affair with Ricky and when Bianca found out, Natalie left town. Natalie returned near the end of the 90s and made up with Natalie and Ricky, and married Pat's son in law, the dumb and petty, but sometimes nice, Barry Evans. After a few years she had enough and began having affairs, first with Barry's half-brother (one of those who shows up suddenly out of nowhere), then with Ricky. She was going to leave town with Ricky and the baby she had with Barry, but Janine, not wanting to lose Ricky, made sure the truth came out, and Natalie left town alone. She returned for some visits, and then to try to prove Janine had killed Barry. She left town for good sometimes in 2004.

I always liked Natalie and always found Lucy Speed to be a very underrated actress.

Natalie and Bianca made up in the four-hander with Grant and Phil.

Grant and Phil Mitchell - Bianca Butcher and Natalie Price (4 June 1999) - As Bianca and Natalie waited in the hospital to see if Ricky would recover from his accident, old wounds were opened. Bianca couldn't forgive Natalie for sleeping with Ricky years earlier, whilst Natalie couldn't forgive Bianca for bullying her. As the former friends conversed they finally decided to forgive each other and became friends once again. Meanwhile Grant was released from prison after attacking a social services representative. Grant accidentally took Phil to a gay bar to drown his sorrows. Back in Walford they climbed onto a railway bridge and made a pact to reunite as an unstoppable force and sort out their enemies in Walford.

Jake Wood and Lindsey Coulson were superb in tonight's episode.

They did a good job of disguising Bianca's double and dubbing over her line with past lines, which they needed to do with Patsy's early leave.

The Carol/Bianca two-hander might not have happened, but I thought they did an excellent job of stretching it, considering the limited time they had to sort it all out.

I love how they mentioned Dan Sullivan, David Wicks, and Derek Branning as well.

Yes, tonight was great. It doesn't surprise considering it had absolutely nothing to do with the baby switch. The only part that bothered me (immensely actually) was Ricky leaving his jacket on when eating! WTF! That is UNACCEPTABLE!

Finally watched Tuesday's episode. I haven't been watching as much lately because I was so annoyed at the hysteria about the baby swap. This one I heard such praise over I wanted to see, and it definitely lived up to the praise. Really strong, every scene - the first time in a long time I can say that. Only with Billie's death. The Brannings are Eastenders most underrated family. What a powerhouse group they are. The scenes with Max and Carol were fantastic, as he tore into her, yet obviously was worried about her. Carol's moral dilemma and confusion over this is fascinating psychological drama, and is one of the reasons why I wanted to see more of Carol/Connor.

The family just fascinate me, as they are all so damaged, yet it's in a quiet, understated way that suddenly explodes. And it keeps being brought down onto a new generation. Patsy Palmer was wonderful in the scene where Bianca was so sure Tiffany had been molested. I'm glad the show didn't go there, yet still had Tiffany traumatized by what has been going on with Carol/Connor/Whitney. I hope this is being used to finally grow Tiffany out of the cutesy one-liner syndrome.

It was nice to see Ricky and Liam have their own share of scenes, which is rare, and also that tender scene with Max and Tiffany. Max really does love kids. It's hard to believe that for several years the show all but ignored any ties between Max and Bianca's family. "Uncle Max" is such a perfect addition to their brood, as he is strong and can take charge, yet also clearly feels affection for them.

If I hadn't known in advance, I think I would have believed the double was Patsy Palmer. The only time it felt off was when we saw her from the back, knocking on the garage door and the dialogue being piped in.

This was also the first time in a long time I have been impressed by Shona McGarthy. I feel more confident about her upcoming story now.

I didn't know there was a double of PP and never noticed. Of course, I wasn't trying to notice and I was too into the episode to care about minor details, except for Ricky and the jacket. See my post above. :)

I wish the whole Sharongate reveal episode was up on YouTube somewhere. I haven't seen it since PBS aired in in the late 90's.

Look at Carol and Alan dancing in the beginning and Carol smiling and having a good time. I don't think you'd see that side of her these days.

God, Gillian Taylforth (Kathy) was always way too hot for men like Pete Beale and Phil Mitchell. She's smoking!

This little clip doesn't do the episode justice, what a great climax, where the aftermath was felt for years, even as Sharon left and came back and then left again.

Carl, I totally agree with everything you've said. Tuesday's episode was, I think, the strangest episode I've ever seen. I was surprised in so many ways. 1 - As you say, Shona McGraty pulled out all the stops. I've always thought her acting was mediocre at best, but she really managed to pull her scenes off realistically. 2 - Liam. I've always thought he was crap too, but I believed in his scenes a lot more than I would have expected to.

I think Carol is the best character and actress the show has got. The Brannings and Jacksons are definitely the best family unit. I'm kind of glad that the Carol/Bianca two-hander was scrapped in favour of the Max/Carol scenes, as I think they have fantastic chemistry as brother and sister and their relationship hasn't been explored in such depth before, unlike Carol and Bianca's. I'm another person who didn't notice the double, and I'm usually very observant about such things. :)

I lost interest in the show after the baby controversy too. Such a shame really.

I just realized that the copper in tonight's episode that was questioning Ricky and Carol is the same copper that arrested Janine for Laura's "murder" in 2004.

I think this clip, before Janine's 2004 arrest/exit, is Janine and Pat's finest hour together:
