July 4, 200817 yr Author Member No AMC, OLTL, GH or DOOL today. Only Y&R and B&B air. Wow talk about ABC not taking advantage of the Fourth....DOOL I know is never shown because of Wimbledon. All of CBS will be shown ATWT and GL too. What a mistake by ABC not to show original programming today.
July 4, 200817 yr Member no that's not right, ATWT and GL was on too.http://www.soapoperadigest.com/news/breaking/ Oh oops, I totally forgot those two even existed. My bad.

What a mistake by ABC not to show original programming today. Well, I'm never sure about the holiday effect. Does viewership go UP (because people are home) or DOWN (because people have other stuff to do)? Does it matter whether it is summer (when more people would be likely to leave the house) or winter? Does anyone know these trends?

I am not sure lately.
July 4, 200817 yr Member No show??? ABC IS showing repeats of AMC, OLTL, and GH today from earlier this year.
July 4, 200817 yr Author Member Last years Fourth of July numbers were low for all soaps. But they were not counted.
July 4, 200817 yr Member I'll be interested to see what today's numbers are. You would think 4th of July = vacation, but maybe not so much this year.
July 4, 200817 yr Member Last years Fourth of July numbers were low for all soaps. But they were not counted. Thanks. I realized today: With pre-emptions, networks used to save 5 or 10 episodes a year (trials, breaking news). Now, they don't pre-empt. Even if they do, the episode usually plays online, Soapnet, or in the wee hours. So the networks don't save on those traditionally pre-empted shows. These reruns are the new way to save. That said, I would run them on the holidays, and PROMOTE THE HECK OUT OF THEM. I'd make them all-time-great episodes, to try to lure in my lapsed viewers. But obviously I don't know anything. I do think all three reruns on ABC, but especially AMC, are good ones....they might lure a viewer or two.

July 5, 200817 yr Member Wow talk about ABC not taking advantage of the Fourth....DOOL I know is never shown because of Wimbledon. All of CBS will be shown ATWT and GL too. What a mistake by ABC not to show original programming today. I don't know whether it was A Repeat, but Days Of Our Lives was on SoapNet at 10 PM Central Time. Maybe SoapNet Repeated Thursday's Episode. The Ending I saw Right before The Young And The Restless was that I can't Remember, but it had John and Marlena. Marlena was Very Upset. Jody
