Oh, stop it! You people are too much! x 1000.

ETA: But, uh, Ron? If you are reading? Then, do I have a Victor Lord story for you! Believe me, it'll change EVERYTHING.

(Don't worry about e-mailing me. Just pass along yours to Toups during your interview with him. ;) )

I liked their scenes yesterday too, and I do agree things are shaping up to be pretty interesting as Marty gets her old persona back.

I noticed Todd's reluctance to touch her and found that pretty interesting.

I like the potential that Marty will be the only one Todd can come to and not be judged for his past, which is also pretty ironic also.

I'm not sure how you got Jolie and Jarlie from what I was saying. By fresh start I meant that with SH in the role, the amnesia gives them an opportunity to make it as if John and Marty met for the first time and take it from there. I didn't at all say they didn't have a romance. My point is for me personally, there wasn't enough of a romance for me to buy into her being a good source of revenge for Todd. But if I look at it from the perspective of his rescuing a damsel in distress with whom he had something going, then it's flimsy enough to buy into.

Again, I'm not sure what the writer's intent is and I guess it's more about how a viewer perceives things. At the base level, Todd is written as victimizing her because she' was his victim in the past and she is again. He's using her amnesia as a means of getting what he wants which means he doesn't have her best interests at heart. I can't see how an amnesia victim making the best of her situation and trying to find her way is encouraging much of anything. I would assume that anybody in that situation would want to remember who he/she is and whoever is around them would be seen as help. It doesn't matter whether or not he seems uncomfortable as written or portrayed because he could be easily written to do the right thing and take her back to her son.

IA with you on both. If Miles had taken Marty or if Todd had Caitlin then it makes it somewhat less uncomfortable to watch and definitely makes it extremely plausible.

I know it's a soap so I'm not looking for reality.....but plausibility isn't too much to want.

As Robin Strasser said at the Paley Center, "That's the franchise. That's the recipe for the chicken."

Todd is an opportunist, always has been. When an amnesiac Marty falls in his lap, of course he is going to use it to his advantage to create some twisted redemption and revenge psychodrama where he can play act as her hero and stick it to John and Cole at the same time. That's who he is.

Dr. Jay, you're a professional. Think professionally! Carlavati has evoked the exact reaction in you that he wanted to--outrage! Getting a viewer's attention is Job Number One for a soap headwriter. I doubt he's going to have a Todd and Marty romance==this is only a tease, and by using the Bob Guza formula, a little bit of sleazy sexual titillation to appeal to the prurient elements in all of us.

If you want to professionally criticize soaps the first rule you have to follow is: SOAPS ARE NOT REAL LIFE. They never have been, never will be. Headwriters are schemers and tacticians, not dreamers or moralists. Now especially, they must build audience numbers. Some like Guza. have no scruples at all. Since I truly believe St. Ron is better than that, I really can't see him writing a romance between a rapist and his long ago victim. A rapist and his now amnesiacal victim maybe, but that puts him in the boat as The Devil (Guza.) And I can't see a 'saint' going there.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
