Members brimike
Janice IS Y&R. She's the show historian, and she definitely deserves a place on the team.
Members rain1
Then Sylph should sit next to me.
Members brimike
Awww, really? Ah well - wouldn't be the first time Sylph and I disagreed on a writer. Why? Just curious...
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I have to disagree, she has tons of history with the show and knows the ins and outs of what makes Y&R tick. If her deal allows her to write for both bell soaps, why isn't she at Y&R right now? Does Griffith not like her much either, I can't see Maria having much of an agenda as she's relatively new there. Members Sylph
You got me there! I just avoid talking/writing about her because my impression about her isn't based on writing. I haven't followed her Y&R work closely, but I know she was a part of Kay Alden's awful B&B team. After those two came, it all fizzled into cr*p!! No Esser! Members Sylph
I love you, too, rain1!!! How on Earth did Janice Ferri Esser (or Holzmüller, that's possibly her third surname) become so powerful? This is just mind-boggling! To be able to write for both shows at the same time? At this point, it seems as if she is the protege Kay Alden was talking about in her MIT podcast. No Alden, no Esser! Thank you!
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Jack F. Smith wrote for both Y&R and B&B at the same time for years....
Members Sylph
Yes, I know it happens. It just happens rarely. Smith is a whole different animal. But what makes Janice so special to have this amazing deal? Bill Bell wrote for two shows his whole life. ATWT and GL, ATWT and AW, DOOL and Y&R, Y&R and B&B... But that is a whole different issue. Members rain1
She has to be careful not to piss Brad off since he hired her when she was down and out. So she's tentatively sticking her toe back in the Y&R waters while pretending to give a damn about B&B. She's a crafty one, that Janice.

Members Y&RWorldTurner
rain1, I must say, these threads wouldn't be half as interesting had you never joined SON. You rock, there, I said it.
Members Sylph
I wholeheartedly agree! However, do not try to steal my new love interest! rain1 is mine.
Members rain1
B&B is a slippery slope. Brad starts out loving an actor... or a writer... or a storyline... but quickly loses focus. And it can literally happen overnight. (Good luck, Brandon Beemer!) ADD or something, who knows? Jim started out strong but Brad lost interest. Who can say why? Tracey Kelley is his most consistent hire-- she learned a long time ago to keep her head way, waaaaay down. And Patrick is the Great Emmy Hope... the supposed deliverer of the elusive writing Emmy Brad wants more than almost anything else in the world.
