Here are some nice words about OLTL from Tom Casiello: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...logID=392863237

To quote a recent controversial ad campaign - O. M. F. G.

Suddenly, I was twelve years old again, running home to watch 36-minutes-plus-commericals with bated breath, praying it wouldn't end as quickly as it usually does.

Ron's a great guy - when I worked there, we'd brainstorm on the phone, talk about soaps in days-gone-past, laugh about the fun of coincidences, and talk about stories we always wished we could tell. And now that I'm seeing what he can do, and the way ABC is letting him play in the Llanview universe, I am in awe. (Yes, Nelson - I have cringed every time you've given One Life the keys to the kingdom this past year - but you win. I have seen the light! )

There's Dorian and Langston having one of the most wonderfully realistic talks about abortion I've ever seen on a soap! There's Adriana, showing all the likable sides of her I could never connect with, while at the same time, expressing all the insecurities a soon-to-be-a-bride suffers through in the days leading up to her wedding! There's Starr and Cole, sharing scenes about teen pregnancy I've always wanted to see confronted on soaps, but they've shied away from, for way too long! There's Viki and Charlie, front-and-center in the kind of love story that made me fall in love with Mac and Rachel back in the day on AW! There's Natalie, finally in a love story I finally CARE about her in! And there's David Vickers - a TV star shuttled back to poverty by the WRITERS' STRIKE (and that flash-bulb montage of him was PRICELESS, not to mention the pictures of himself on the mantle!) On the flip side, there was Blair and Todd, having it out while both being understandable, and fighting like two people who have been to hell and back and then took up permanent residence in the place they started - mining history for all its worth. And speaking of history - there's Tina on the horizon! And Marty! And rumors about all sorts of former comebacks, including the big K herself - Judith Light! (Will she have to face the courtroom stand again? YIKES!)

I saw flash after flash of what made me fall in love with soaps to begin with this week on One Life. When 2 PM is rolling around, I've started to get a little more excited, my heart beats a little bit faster. And when the credits roll, I'm so bummed I have another twenty-four hours before the next installment.

People we care about. Characters with fun quirks and fatal flaws, all wrapped up in one. Multigenerational family melodrama, expertly mixed with side-splitting comedy, social statements, and just good, old-fashioned soapiness.

I am a believer again! There should be some part of soaps that reflect our lives. And also reflect the escapism we crave. One Life in May Sweeps is firing on all cylinders. If you haven't ever seen it, this is the time. If you used to be a fan and since left it? COME BACK! I promise, you'll be glad you did.

Thanks, Ron and Frank, Shelly and Chris and Janet and Anna, Carolyn and Fran and Elizabeth and Aida, Suzanne and Shelley and John! Thanks for hanging in there, keeping your heads above water during the rough times, and for giving us something to believe in again when the daytime hours roll around!

I cannot wait until 2pm either! :)

I can't wait for the wedding!

Same here! I have an idea what's going to happen, but I don't know how it's going to happen.

This week, we've got the wedding, Todd/Blair/John on the trails on Cole/Starr, David catching Natalie/Jared, Langston admitting she's not pregnant which probably means Dorian finding out Starr is! It's going to be another awesome week!!

Yes! I have found myself jumping for joy before an episode starts and sad when it ends! Can't wait for tomorrow!

the wedding is going to be amazing drama I'm sure. I wonder what kind of backlash it'll have on Gigi, I'm sure we can expect alot of those people that came running to her defense to change their tune on her after she does what she does.

One way I can tell that I am loving a soap as a whole, is when I can watch it all the way through and NOT hate most of the characters on screen. OLTL is doing a great job and I am enjoying it even more because I don't analyze every.single.scene.to.death.

Wow! This show must be doing something right if the weekly discussion starts a day before the week starts! LOL!

Lol, I was about to say the exact same thing Dale!

I can't wait for the big wedding :D

Can't wait till tomorrow...should be another awesome week. Really looking forward to all the wedding drama!

ETA: It's really nice to be excited about a soap....wanting to watch every day...wanting to watch live..not wanting to mute certain scenes. Such a nice feeling :D

I will ditto the "weekend is over and I can't wait for OLTL" fever. I used to feel this way about Days, but that's been blown all to hell. I'm really curious as to how this whole Jared/David thing is going to be resolved.

The promo clip stunned me.
