Members JAS0N47
Joseph Mascolo (Stefano)'s parents recently celebrated a wedding anniversary. While this is not normally news-worthy, it is for Mascolo's parents, who were celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary, having been married on April 23, 1928! Pietro "Peter" and Anna Mascolo renewed their vows in Italian at a family event hosted by son Joseph. "They've been married longer than a lot of us have lived. They've been married for 80 years and they still talk to each other and I think it really was based on love," Joseph Mascolo said. Pietro Mascolo grew up in Lauro di Sessa, a small town outside Naples, Italy and joined the Italian army at age 18. After patrolling the Swiss border for three years, he moved to the United States in 1923, settled in Hartford, Connecticut, learned English, married Anna, and eventually became a toolmaker for Pratt & Whitney. The couple raised their two children, Joseph and Marie, in West Hartford and lived in the same house, doing their own housekeeping and gardening until 2003. Anna Mascolo is 97 and Peter Mascolo is 106. In other news, while researching this story, it has been found that Mascolo is actually six years older than originally thought. Joseph Mascolo was actually born in March 1929, not in March 1935 as had been previously listed in other sources.
