Wow. She took over for such a popular actress and was deemed the best recast within a year? Now thats some serious talent!

I like that AMC got Most Improved Show...1984-1986 were some slump years for them but they rebounded from 1987-1989 and closed out the 80s with a second golden era (first was late 70s/early 80s). Third golden era was early to mid 90s

IMO, that is Jess Walton. Seriously talented. In fact "talented" is such an over-used word in soaps. But when JW came on Y&R, it was kismet. Brenda Dickson was Jill and I don't intend to take anything away from her portrayal, but Jess brought such layers and nuance and rage to the role that it seemed to fit her like a glove.

Co-sign on the Santa Barbara love. Sigh.

And wow. GH barely featured or was hated on in 1987!

For some reason, I thought all of GH's 80s years were good stuff but I guess not 1987. I want to see 1989's Best/Worst since that is where AMC got Best Show

Ah, remember when SOD was actually able to take shows to task for their screwups? Not like the waste-of-space publicity tool it is now.
