Well i for one have gotten tired of the Dimera family being responsible for absolutely every bad thing that has happened in Salem over the past 15 years..Its just gotten ridiculous....They've been behind Marlena's constant kidnappings, Hope's "death", Billie losing Georgia, Marlena as the serial killer/Melaswan, Stan & the Iraq debacle, Steve's "death"/missing years, John's "death", all the gloved hand crimes, the Touch the Sky nonsense, and so many other things i can't remember right now..

I'm not saying i want the Dimera's phased out, i'm just happy to have some new villains on the show that aren't connected to the Dimeras...Ideally, i want Stefano to wake up sometime during the summer and ignite a power struggle with Jawn over control of the Dimera dynasty..

If that were to happen, I would be responsive to it.

But I don't think the DiMeras are played out.

Two of the writers who wrote for them are. JER and DH have not and never will get Stefano or the DiMeras. When Hogan's material made it to screen, it seemed like he got him and the family. IMO, he didn't make them cartoon villains.

JER did, and DH is too arrogant and lazy to write for any character she doesn't like.

But, I do see your point.

Yeah, you're not missing anything.

OMG, today's last scene was so bad, I literally LOL. So Kayla kneels down to help Steve and she leaves her gun out in the open and of course she doesn't pick it back up. Also, nobody ties Ava up. So when they start to leave the room, Kayla gets a cramp, and Ava picks up the gun and shoots Hope.

And the rescue was so boring. There was no suspence, intense drama/action at all.

I am happy with the direction the show has taken. For the first time in a long time there is a balance on the show. Bo/Hope/Steve/Kayla have their own adventure, which is alot better than sitting around reading those stupid letters with Yawn and Marlena. Jawn is awesome, I hope when they find the disc that he keeps his edge. As far as Stefano is concerned, I believe he will be back more pissed off than ever. I love the fact that Nicole is back, and Victor finally has some air time. I like Kevin Dobson as Mickey, and I hope that with him being there that Maggie will get more airtime. Im not a big Sami/EJ fan, I can take or leave them, that area will be more interesting with Nicole thrown into the mix. I cant wait to learn more about the Vitales, its about time the show introduced a new villian to play against Stefano and Victor.

One thing bugging me these days is Kayla. She's soooo stupid(!), and it wasn't just the last scene when she left her gun behind. It's always. She's risking her baby's health. She's constantly saying it'll be fine and so on. Newsflash, she can't guarantee that, she's not in control. Stupid idiot. Gosh she's annoying!

The flashbacks. Why oh why?! I just saw the original scenes like yesterday.

Other then that I'm enjoying the show. I had a little marathon last night with five episodes, and I was actually mad I had to wait until the next day before I got to watch another one.

I agree with a certain other, about Stefano being slightly played out. If his crime times are over, I'm fine with it. Some new villain blood is good for the show.

I kind of like what's going on with Victor, Philip, John... To a point it feels like the old days, and that's a good thing.

I like that atleast one character is really mourning Shawn. Max is struggling, and he's acting similar to a close friend of mine who just lost her father. Not every decision or action is right, and that's ok because you don't have to be perfect all the time. It's perfectly normal to kind of loose it when something like this happens. It's real, atleast for me since I get to see it every day IRL too.

What a boring, awful week. It reeks of the kind of repetitive Corday/JERk garbage that plagued the show for years. Tuesday was almost entirely flashbacks and fantasies! And people are talking loudly to themselves again. Corday's definitely back in full control.

I don't like the Vitalis, but don't forget that the DiMeras WERE kind of a mob family, before they became comic book super villains.

Then again, if I have to see one more flashback of Steve and Ava getting on a bed and then fast-forwarding to post-sex...

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.
