How is KMH incapable of being sympathetic? When Diego raped Emily, when Hal brought out her inner peace... I think KMH had just a wee bit of involvement in that.

I hate Emily for exactly the opposite reason (I think..). I've heard her whine for years about how her choices are all Susan's fault. It not only got old, that bs excuse ceased to exist for me when she knowingly bedded Diego/Umberto and then tortured blind Samantha for kicks. Emily knows the difference between right and wrong, she just makes selfish choices. And she's never sorry until or unless she gets caught. LOL...I just hate her...not love to hate her.

WORD B):D

I swear, KMH is incapable of being sympathetic. Anytime I've had an sliver of compassion for the character, KMH starts her incessant "hhhmmmmnnnniiiiinnnngggg.... and wiping her runny nose with her hands, and I get totally turned off.

and more WORD :D

I had no sympathy for Emily when she was raped. NONE. And this was before I was on the internet...what I remember was the cinematography, because it felt so cramped (which I thought was brilliant) and that silly scene where Em ran into the kitchen, boobs a jigglin' and splashed herself with cold water. The rape was supposed to buy her redemption, and for me it didn't.

I loved Hal....I didn't love Hal and Emily. I liked that Em was Carly's friend. I didn't really buy that Em loved Hal. It was clear TIIC had no clue what to do with her. And the minute Hal apologized to her after Chris stopped the wedding, I got to passionately loathe Em again. KMH just can't convince me Emily sincerely loves anyone. I enjoy her more as a low-down bitch.

Just don't say you'd rather have her off the show since she can't sell you the character anymore. It's a world of trouble.

So did I. However, it's hard to blame KMH's version of the character on Goutman, she took over the role about seven years before he even got there. It's hard to believe KMH has played the role for fifteen years (5 times longer than Melanie Smith), and I still consider her a bad recast.

I feel the same way. KMH was a bad recast from the start. I wish Melanie Smith was back in the role of Emily. It would be a great treat.

I love KMH and think she does a terrific job. Sure, Emily's a complete and utter mess but I always feel for her. KMH sells me on Emily's craziness but also her brains and her flaws. I never saw MS in the role (save for the few clips on YouTube) and what I saw I liked her too, but I really enjoy KMH.

I'm sorry you felt troubled....but you were advocating getting rid of our recent Emmy award winner. You don't throw the baby out with the bath water...you get rid of the talentless hack writers.
