Discuss.

The more I see Marlena, the more I'm enjoying DAYS. John has another flashback and he remembers (kind of) his honeymoon with Marlena at the beach (I hope he doesn't have a flashback of Princess Gina ). I'll never forget Marlena's wedding day to John because that was the same week when Passions debuted. God, I hated that show in the beginning, but I got use to it.

EEEEEEEEE! John is telling Marlena that he had a dream about her!

Anybody else watching right now?

The scab writers are definitely here.

In just the last handful of episodes, the dialogue has been horrible... and now those ridiculous "brainwashing" flashbacks? Yuck! They reek of Tom Langan. I honestly don't know how Drake kept a straight face.

For me personally, this story has taken a dramatic fall in the wrong direction over the last few episodes.

As for any scenes with Belle/Shawn/Phillip/Chloe, I feel like... why bother watching? I already know that it will lead to absolutely nothing, so anything that happens between then and now is a complete waste of time.

Precisely.

Also, it feels like someone has pressed the pause button. I'm ready for J&M to get out of that damn hospital! Seriously, I already hate 'hospital' scenes, because the sets are so boring and uninspiring, but... John and Marlena need to break out of that place! I'm sick of J&M having the same conversation.

MARLENA: "You will remember me."

JOHN: "I dont know who you are."

MARLENA: "But you will."

JOHN: "I don't. I was programmed not to."

MARLENA: "I can break through that. Our love can break through that."

JOHN: "But I don't love you."

MARLENA: "Yes, you do. I'll make you see that."

JOHN: "It won't work. I was programmed to not feel anything."

MARLENA: "But our love can break through anything."

JOHN: "Don't drug me!"

MARLENA: "I won't let them drug you."

NURSES: "He's violent, we have to drug him!"

MARLENA: "Oh John, I love you!"

JOHN: "I don't love you. I wasn't programmed..."

OHMYFUCKINGCHRIST!!

Second verse, same as the first. Move oooooonnnnn with it! Let something happen! Let one of Stefano's men try to escape John out or something. I mean, Stefano spends all this time and energy on getting John under his control, yet he's just going to let him sit there in that hospital and not even try to get him back? Do somethingggggggg!

Or Abe telling EJ he couldn't trust anyone with DiMera blood when his wife and son have DiMera blood. I'm chalking a lot of this up to the scab writers...who appear not to know a lot about dialogue writing or the show's history. I guess we could always say it's fun to see what outlandish statement will pop out of a character's mouth next, but I feel for the actors who are dealing with these scripts and worried about their longevity on the show.

Yeah. The John flashbacks were horrible. There is no way you can put everything in one's mind on a disk. I've heard of memories and data but not that. I agree. It would've been better if they had just left it to the imagination or just used vague flashbacks.

Wow...this is what you get with Hogan gone. How the hell did Ed Scott let that BS pass? Couldn't he have made a suggestion or made it a bit darker?

Ugh. The sad part is a good amount of fans will eat this up because of the camp factor. I like the story but the brainwashing scenes are atrocious. Can't we just stick to the present and present vague flashback scenes like the ones we got for Stephanie's rape? Flashbacks like those would be more effective.

The J&M story is pretty good and I love feisty Marlena and her standing up for John with the doctors, Roman, and Hope. Also liked John being an ass to Hope .

The Belle/Philip scenes were wonderful. That is the only stuff that hit me hard knowing what we know because they both knocked it out of the ballpark and they are just working as a couple now. It was wonderful. I also liked how Belle asking Philip's hand and him taking and holding it faded into Crystal singing to Claire, which Belle had mentioned prior, and then it faded back to Belle and Philip and then we had a scene where John was asking Marlena to let go of his hand. Clever juxtaposition and good editing. Loved it. I also adore Crystal. She is so intriguing.

Lucas making a deal with Stefano and the Sami/EJ scenes were actually not bad. I like Lucas getting his edge back and his worry about Sami falling for EJ, along with his worries about Ali, driving him to consider Stefano's deal. Good scenes.

All in all, the show is still doing what it's supposed to do. We just have to hope they make the right casting decisions to go along with it.

I hate talking on the phone. I really do. It seemed like today everyone and their great grandmother was calling me and annoying the crap out of me that I didn't get to finish the rest of DAYS. And by reading Kennylicious's post, I would probably have to say that it's safe that I didn't watch the rest of show in its entirety. Wuff! Man, this is tragic....

Okay, so who let David Kreizman in the house? This isn't even funny.

    • With all the changes Sunny was one of the longest running characters by that time.  She had never been married and had heaps of story potential. I can see America getting with SFT -you know 'the circus soap'. Smart move because circuses were all the rage with the kids in the 80's. Maybe Stu and Jo could have bought the circus.
    • It is actually pathetic, that Victor’s 50 year old children are still written as scared of this man that has to sit in every scene. I get it, EB has been on the show for almost 50 years, but I don’t care. He’s a man in his 80’s and should not be the damn lead and driving force because you don’t want to upset Eric Braeden ‘s fragile ego that only exists because the writers have cowtowed to this man for so long.
    • PREACH Victor being written as he was 20 years ago to support EB's ego or some misguided belief that what worked decades ago is still relevant is destroying the show. Victor comes off as a rambling old fool holding on to vendettas and a desperate need for perceived power. His children still cow-towing to him makes them look equally foolish. If the writing portrayed Victor as  more of an irritant to them then maybe it would work.
    • They desperately need another meeting spot that isn’t Orphy Genes or the Country club. Y&R is awful now but there’s at least GCAC, Crimson Lights, Society, and the Jazz room at GCAC to meet at. 4 places is definitely better than 2 and I can’t imagine these rich folks literally only eat at their damn country club.
    • I support all of this. 80 year old Victor reading lines off the table or teleprompter until it’s time to yell at someone and still being the main man driving story on the show is absolutely ridiculous to me and one of the biggest issues with the show. I respect Braeden for wanting to keep working in his old age is great and all, but WHY IS HE THE LEAD?
    • I believe they said 27 sets. We have not seen that many maybe around 20. Perhaps they meant they have space for that number. I would like to see another meeting place -maybe a restaurant that could fit in b/w Orphy's and the Country Club. Casual but classy. Jacob/Naomi need a living room and it would be good if Vern/Anita had a smaller study/library so they're not always in the same room. I guess budget plays a part. For example, maybe the plan is for Jacob/Naomi to get a home down the track when they become more prominent. I really hope that outdoor sets come into use. A terrace at the Country Club or a few shopfronts-a park maybe. Speculation re June. I would go with a Hayley connection as she needs something else to do apart from whining to Bill. June could  provide some conflict cos I don't see Bill being that interested in having her around. He could try to buy her off, upsetting Hayley or she could overhear/uncover some dirt on Bill so he's forced to keep her around. The parents of Tyrell/Samantha can be held for down the track along with the mystery of Andre's parents. The advantage of a new show is that there is so much from character's pasts that can be used. An ex for Vernon or Anita and various relatives to come out of the woodwork.
    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
