Members Scotty
Oh I agree....I would be perfectly happy with it as well, as long as the majority of the of the Republicans in Congress, Republican Governors, and those in other state and local races around the country that have supported this ill-ran McCain/Palin run go down in defeat as well. Members SnCCorinthos4ever
WTF an 7 or 8 year old with a designer bag worth that much. Now if I had a designer bag it would be a fake one that I can buy for a few dollars from a corner shop. And if it was worth around the $800 mark it would be because there would be around $800 cash in there.
Members SnCCorinthos4ever
OMG http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27405681/ ATF: Plot by skinheads to kill Obama is foiled Two Neo-Nazis held in Tennessee, allegedly also planned to kill dozens By BREAKING NEWS NBC News and news services updated 4:38 p.m. ET Oct. 27, 2008 WASHINGTON - A plot by two Neo-Nazi skinheads to assassinate Barack Obama and kill dozens of other African Americans has been foiled, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said Monday. Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman, 18, of West Helena, Ark., were charged Friday with making threats against a presidential candidate, illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun and conspiracy to rob a gun store. In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans that included robbing a gun store and targeting an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school. The two men were arrested in Crockett County, Tenn., and have already made a court appearance. The plot unraveled when one of the men was arrested on other charges and in the course of interviews he revealed plans for the plot. According to the court records, the pair discussed robbing a gun shop in order to gather weapons and ammunition to use in a "killing spree." The defendants allegedly further discussed their killing spree to include targeting a predominately African-American school, and to continue their spree until it culminated with an attempt to assassinate Obama. Members Adam
That is just awful there are still small sects of american society that are so close minded.... but at the same time I am shocked up until this point there haven't been other incidents like this.... Members Wales2004
This hasn't been brought up yet and I haven't heard that he was doing that. What I did hear a few weeks ago was that the GOP would use the tactic of saying that Americans don't want an all Democrat majority with a Democrat as President. Supposedly this will scare people into voting McCain in as President in an effort to keep the Democrats in check. Right now I don't see how McCain can help others too much considering he's not even the more talked about candidate on his own ticket. The Ted Stevens' fiasco might get interested since he was found guilty of lying and has no time to appeal prior to the election. Chris Matthews is an idiot. He was getting info on the two neo Nazis who planned the killing spree and he asked the reporter if this isn't a diminished capacity case. I guess he can tell all this without even hearing them say one word.
Members bandbfan
So Ted Stevens was found guilty. Will it actually surprise anyone if he is re-elected? Maybe I'm just cynical. He's still tied and even ahead in some polls even with all of the stuff already. Will a guilty verdict change it?
Members Wales2004
I won't be surprised and I don't think you're being cynical. I just think that there are times when people are just used to whoever it is to the point where they don't seem to care. They might justify what he did in some way to make it easier to vote for him. Members bandbfan
I just hate the blind support like that. I feel that's as bad as not voting. Also think this shows that seniority doesn't always mean a d**n thing. Would you rather have a corrupt old senator or a un-corrupt new one? Members Scotty
I wouldn't be surprised either. I just heard on Headline News that if he is re-elected that the Senate would likely vote to expel him. Nothing like American politics, is there? Members Scotty
Yeah, it was on one of those weekend entertainment shows....they showed a picture of the girl, and mentioned the designer's name, although I can't remember it.
Members Scotty
Whoops.......John McCain "accidentally" agrees with Senator John Murtha's recent comments about western Pennsylvania being racist. Talk about a Freudian slip. "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"> They say the mind is the first thing to go... Members MoTheGreat
Dozens Of Call Center Workers Walk Off Job In Protest Rather Than Read McCain Script Attacking Obama By Greg Sargent - October 27, 2008, 5:18PM Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking Barack Obama, according to two workers at the center and one of their parents. Nina Williams, a stay-at-home mom in Lake County, Indiana, tells us that her daughter recently called her from her job at the center, upset that she had been asked to read a script attacking Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger." Williams' daughter told her that up to 40 of her co-workers had refused to read the script, and had left the call center after supervisors told them that they would have to either read the call or leave, Williams says. The call center is called Americall, and it's located in Hobart, IN. "They walked out," Williams says of her daughter and her co-workers, adding that they weren't fired but willingly sacrificed pay rather than read the lines. "They were told [by supervisors], `If you all leave, you're not gonna get paid for the rest of the day." The daughter, who wanted her name withheld fearing retribution from her employer, confirmed the story to us. "It was like at least 40 people," the daughter said. "People thought the script was nasty and they didn't wanna read it." A second worker at the call center confirmed the episode, saying that "at least 30" workers had walked out after refusing to read the script. "We were asked to read something saying [Obama and Democrats] were against protecting children from danger," this worker said. "I wouldn't do it. A lot of people left. They thought it was disgusting." This worker, too, confirmed sacrificing pay to walk out, saying her supervisor told her: "If you don't wanna phone it you can just go home for the day." The script coincided with this robo-slime call running in other states, but because robocalling is illegal in Indiana it was being read by call center workers. Representatives at Americall in Indiana, and at the company's corporate headquarters in Naperville, Illinois, didn't return calls for comment
Members Greg's GL
The plot was disturbing to me, but I can't say I'm "surprised" by it. The idea that there are still people in this country that hate someone based on the pigmentation of their skin sickens me. And saddens me as well. I often wonder what makes them believe that they are superior to others? Were they raised to believe this? Are they simply very insecure about themselves? These guys, along with the crazy white chick at the ATM last week, are simply pathetic. Some of my friends have voiced concern over voting for Obama because of the perceived risk to his life if he were to become president. While IA that he would need more protection than a white guy, I won't let that stop me from casting my vote for him. I'm sure that he and his family are well aware of the danger they face from racists and they have probably talked about it many times. It's sad that even in the 21st Century, there are still people that would go to this extreme. I believe that we need checks and balances in government. Ideally, I wouldn't mind one branch of Congress - either the House or Senate - in the other party's hands. My hope is that (if elected) Obama will move to the center and govern fairly for both parties. OTOH, if McCain is elected, he should do the same. Members Jess
I think right now we need a government that is not split. We are in a mess right now and I want Congress to work together to get it fixed. Look at what happened with the bailout bill. It turned into a pork farm. Maybe the public is sending a message that we want change across the board, and that perhaps that means one-party government for a while. It's interesting, McCain is arguing for divided government. Through much of Bush's term as president, the Rs controlled all three branches. They failed. Let's see if the D's can do it a little better. I bet Stevens wins re-election and that is pathetic. It is rewarding bad behavior. Right now, I'm hopeful that the American people are rejecting the politics of lies and misrepresentation that we have seen from McCain. You know, I wonder if Stevens gets re-elected and expelled if Palin would appoint herself to the Senate.
Members Roman
I would say this to your friends: "How do you think he feels? He has to live the notion that some [!@#$%^&*] would either try to kill him or a member of his family. If he's willing to go through that........it should prove the courage the man has."
