Members Jess
McCain even misrepresented John Lewis' remarks!!! Geez, where does it stop. When I was driving to the debate party site, I was listening to the debate on the radio. I was thinking, well McCain isn't doing too bad. I thought, it's a tie and that is a win for MCCain. When I arrived and watched it, I thought, what is this? The smug bastard McCain was grinning, making faces and acting like a two-year-old. We've had an immature president for eight years. Gees, that is not McCain. Oh well, I think he's toast, but who knows. It's still three weeks. Everyone must continue to work hard and to stay on point. Let the R's light themselves on fire. What are they doing? It makes no sense.
Members Wales2004
How was it being there in person? Buchanan was saying that Obama was cautious as if it was some terrible thing.
Members Jess
Ooops, I wasn't at that debate site. I meant to say the debate party site. I'll go correct. I watched it on TV like everyone else. McCain was making faces during Obama's comments.
Members Wales2004
Thanks for clearing that up. I actually like the discussion that's going on now on MSNBC.....at least for the moment. One of the points made was that Palin was one of those people whose words McCain needed to repudiate. The whole Ayers punch fell totally flat. I thought McCain did his best job yet but it still didn't translate into much of anything and the whole Joe the plumber thing wasn't a good thing unless he was going after one man's vote......people are crying about spreading the wealth now. Members Wales2004
The Republican spin is that they have Obama on his heels and that Obama is going to make the mistake of sitting on his lead. Chris Matthews is trying to pursue McCain's claim that Obama launched his political careeer in Ayers' livingroom because he's out of things to get loud about. I should add that I am glad that Obama finally shot down that nonsensical reason McCain gives for his negative campaigning.....town hall meeting really... Members Tishy
McCain looked like his head was ready to explode. He was angry, jumpy and downright rude. Obama didn't have to say a word, he just sat there with his hands folded, very relaxed and watch McCain implode. I really thought when looking at Obama, that I was looking at my next President
Members SnCCorinthos4ever
Hmm I wonder if the October Surprise is that the Obama/Liden ticket would get stronger and stronger and that they would win all the debates. And the McCain/Palin ticket would look more like show that is on its last legs.
Members ReddFoxx
Both the candidates are fully defined now, Obama did really well, defined the issues and kept calm, while McCain seemed a bit agitated at times and too eager to throw out attacks. IMO, I do think this debate did allow us to hear more clear cut positions on the issues than the previous ones did and that probably will help a lot of undecideds make up their minds. Members Greg's GL
I thought this was McCain's best debate thus far. He did a pretty good job of keeping his true, angry personality from showing for the first half. But his true colors started showing the last 45 minutes or so. Meanwhile, Obama came across as very well put together, more "presidential" than his opponent. Aside from the issues, Obama once again wins the personality battle and that's very important. It did Gore in 8 years ago. Total hypocrisy. The remarks being shouted at his own rallies is much worse that anything Lewis said, even the exaggerated version McCain claimed last night. I liked that as well. But did you notice at the end of the abortion question, McCain did say that he wouldn't nominate someone pro-abortion, or something along that line? There was a small sound from the audience right after he said that and it was right before the question went to Obama. ICAM. The debate showed us two very different people and gave us an idea of what each of their administrations would look like. It did little to sway those who have already made up their minds, but it did give the undecideds a helping hand in making their decision.
Members Greg's GL
Here's a clip from the debate on the abortion issue. I stand corrected on McCain's comments. He said that he would appoint "the most qualified" judges to the Supreme Court and that a judge that has supported Roe V. Wade would not be in the list. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/...obama.court.cnn On another board, someone has posted that CBS was very biased last night during the debate for Obama. What?!? Did I miss something?
Members bandbfan
I know that after Obama said that nobody is actually pro-abortion, McCain used that term again.
Members Greg's GL
This [!@#$%^&*] just pisses me off. Why isn't McCain "repudiating" the Sacramento GOP? Check out this article and make sure you notice the image.... Sacramento GOP compares Obama to Bin Laden It's sickening.

Members Wales2004
This is laughable. Bob Schieffer loves McCain period. If he were going to sow bias, it wouldn't have been for Obama but I didn't notice any preferential treatment at all. McCain had the perfect opportunity to land his Ayers punch and it went up in flames. Not only did Obama point out that Republicans funded that board but some sat on it as well with Ayers. There's video of McCain at an ACORN spionsored event two years ago. And if reports are accurate, ACORN is the one that brought up the voter registration fraud issue which is entirely different from actual voter fraud and shows that they weren't trying to perpetuate it. Is McCain now going to back off Ayers? The whole Obama/Osama route is childish but that's pretty much how the Republicans have conducted themselves this political season. What is troubling is living in a state with so many hateful people. Even though I don't live in Sacramento , I know those special people are all over California....but then again they are everywhere. How chic are those Obama bin Lyin signs at McCain rallies and Curious George with an Obama sticker over him? When has anyone shown footage of an Obama rally with a troll and a McCain sticker over him? Hmmmm not so far.
Members Greg's GL
IA. I think Bob Schieffer did a great job with this debate. I should have known the bias claim was inevitable given the current Republican mind-set. McCain needed a huge win, and when he didn't get it, they roll out the blame game. Yeah, right - don't blame your candidate's ineptness at discussing the issues or his utter lack of personality and charisma for not getting the much needed "win". Blame anyone else in the hopes that the claim sticks to the wall. Ugh. It's simply troubling to me, as a political person, to see the opposition sink to the level they have. Again, I shouldn't be surprised because these types of attacks have worked very well for them the last 8 years. But it's more troubling this time around because these words have the very real possibility of inciting violence. Unfortunately, there are no shortage of (what I hope to be) the conversative fringe hatred groups here in Florida as well. Witness the psycho on I-75 attempting to start something going 80 mph on a 4 lane highway that I told y'all about. All because I have an Obama sticker on my car! We are the state of intolerance. The state of Anita Bryant. She spewed her hatred (I vaguely remember this in the 70s) toward GLBT all across the state and much of the laws she helped to enact are still on the books today. Now it appears that Prop 2 (Gay Marriage ban) will likely pass. <sigh>. And whose sponsoring that legislation? A Republican. More hate politics from the right. What a surprise. It was here at a SW FL Palin rally where someone first yelled out something hateful and she did nothing about it. I'm rambling again.
