you know I got so sick of Palin using the term Maverick and now Biden is ripping her apart on it

  • Member

Out of all the questions asked....exactly how many did she answer?

  • Member

When they were talking about the debate here one of the newsreaders said that Biden should do ok if he doesn't say anything stupid, they never mentioned Palin. But I guess that is because every time she opens her mouth something stupid comes out.

We get CNN on cable here and the debate was live. And it is going to be replayed at 7.00 pm that is Australian time. I'll watch it then.

My analysis....she held her own. She was more coherent than she's been in weeks. It reminded me of the Sarah Palin from her old debates. That said, she didn't really say much, she didn't really answer questions, and it further proved this was not the best choice for a running mate.

I caught the last bit of the Canadian debate and I was impressed. Much better than the U.S. one indeed.

Canadian politics? What's that? LOL Honestly, I'm way more interested in American politics because it's so much more interesting. I might check out the highlights though - I wonder why they scheduled it against the American debate.

LOL. I caught the last half an hour, I was entertained though.

She said NUCULAR at least twice!!

I hate hearing the way she says nuclear.

Joe Biden gets major points for pointing out that you can't figure out how to deal with global warning if you don't know what caused it.

The most disturbing thing is that she wants the VP to have even more power than Cheney has already taken.

She's personable and all and I suppose her style works for some people but that winking at the camera is not what I want to see a candidate do. I didn't care for her tone at times.....she decided to ask and answer her own questions.

All the nastiness about Gwen Ifill and Gwen Ifill actually helped her.

So she sounded better than she did in the interviews but she didn't give me the impression that she knows a whole lot because most of her answers lacked substance and sounded rehearsed. I was impressed with what she said about Darfur though.

I have no idea what Oprah's mother has said or has not said about her. It's besides the point. No one should be held responsible for what their relatives say or may say.

It's offensive to me that you want to hold Gwen Ifill responsible for a relative when you ought to hold your candidate responsible for not asking for a new moderator. Instead of smearing the woman (by questioning whether or not she has the ability to be professional), request a new moderator....chapter closed.

It's offensive to me that you posted about Gwen Ifill when the solution is for McCain to ask for a new moderator.

The reason whoever dug up information on Gwen Ifill's cousin did so is because Gwen Ifill had the "audacity" to wonder whether the reason people assume that she is "in the tank" for Obama and the reason that people assume her book favors Obama is becasue she's black. Instead of addressing that possibility the "big brains" said let's dig and now we have proof that her cousin said something then we can just go after her some more. It would be far too logical to have spent that energy asking McCain's campaign to ask for a new moderator.....not when you can travel the sort of route that makes certain Republicans look as if they prefer divisiveness.

I have no idea what Gwen Ifill's cousin said nor do I care what she said since Gwen Ifill's cousin is not running for office and because it's totally irrelevant to the fact that McCain should ask for a new moderator.

McCain is supposed to be a problem solver. If he feels that he has a biased moderator on his hands then the logical, sensible thing to do is ask for a new moderator.

You need to understand the relevance of Ifill calling her cousin "brilliant baby cousin". This would lead me to believe that Ifill endorces the ideals and views of her cousin. If her cousin had shot this off in a normal circumstance..it would not have made the news.

The fact the Ifill holds her in the stature of being "brilliant" speaks highly to Ifills own beliefs and ideals.

With all of that being said. I think Ifill made a substantial effort to be balanced..

I don't need to understand at all. My opinion is that it's irrelevant since Ifill is not running for office so you can say it as many ways as you want....it's a moot point as far as I'm concerned.

I find it extremely offensive that you were so willing to go after Gwen Ifill's professionalism without being familiar with her at all. Then when people offered up their opinions you disregarded them. Now I understand that yours is the only opinion that matters to you but by the same token you might consider that other people's opinions matter to them.

You've got to be kidding?? ;)

I hate how condescending she is. How rude was she with that diss on Biden about his "lame joke that no one got"

I just posted elsewhere that I found her so condescending and I hate how she used words like betcha, gonna, kinda or gotcha. She puts the women's movement back 100 years

How is Palin more common sensical than Biden? Yes, he's a politician, but I don't know how she can say she has a more average life than Biden.

Great job Sarah!

Biden did a great job, she was mediocre. I found her stiff, rehearsed and when she had to answer to a question, she avoided it and went back to talking about energy. I wanted to hear where she stood on the issues. I didnot want to hear her shout out to some grade school or how she was in the soccer field. I did not think that she sounded confident at all in her answers and at one point I thought she might lose it. Biden was good in the fact that he didn't ramble on nor did he jump all over her. I thought at times he was visibly trying to keep his mouth shut when she refused to answer a question.

Line of the night goes to Biden with the Bridge to Nowhere crack.

Am I the only one that thinks Biden has great caps on his teeth? He has a great smile for an older gentleman. And Palin's youngest, the five month old, My God, has she ever cried? Every time I have seen that baby the baby is asleep. Are they giving the baby tranqualizers?

The gender meter thing on CNN was interesting. I think women were more receptive, either being more on the higher end or more on the lower end, when both lines were in that area. I think this debate, or that focus group anyway, showed that gender doesn't matter much.
