They were close to a deal yesterday afternoon. With the houses of Congress very close in terms of party control, they couldn't have gotten there without some spiteful Repubs joining the fray.

McCain's thunder? More like McCain's blunder.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me that the McCain camp will cry that the mean 'ol Democrats made a deal just to spite him.

I have nothing in regards to Fannie Mae.

I wrote the most amazing response to a post in an OLTL thread and it vanished and so I take it as a sign to leave the soap stuff alone.

I think the really liberal media will have a ball with this and Letterman may if he hasn't already taped his show.

Now the real story is that the agreement came because when they heard McCain was coming they knew he meant business and they were very afraid...

Americans need to understand that during this crisis, that McCain recently discovered, he was prepared to lead by bombarding us with negative ads, making a few minor appearances, postponing a debate and trying to change the date of the vp debate. Yes, he was diligently working on our behalfs to shore up his position in our eyes....because that's what we want most from a leader.

I found it! A quote from CBSNews.com

The entire article.

Obama rebuffs McCain on debate delay

He LIED!!!

Thanks.

The McCain campaign initially said it would suspend all advertising and campaign events until a workable deal is reached on the bailout proposal - but only if the Obama campaign agreed to do the same. Later, the campaign said it would move ahead regardless of whether Obama agrees.

Now the only option is to say that's not what they meant or that they knew the issue had been worked out prior to the ads running which would open them to the question of why he needed to go if an agreement had been raised.

The report is right in that Obama's spin will be bipartisanship and McCain is stuck with siding with Bush yet again.

Chris Dodd and Barney Frank should have been working around the clock to fix this since it happened while they were sleeping so there is plenty of blame to go around.

I love that you're playing a little devil's advocate here. Unless I'm getting the wrong vibe here....

Anyway, ITA that Dodd and Frank are just as guilty as some Republicans.

Shifting gears a bit. Not polling cell phone only users was discussed sometime back in this thread. Personally, I think the spread is much larger (in Obama's favor) when these numbers are added in. Interesting read.

Omitting cell phone users may affect polls

Did you send them an email, BadZoe?

Just posted to the send cnn a response link. Who knows if they'll even pick it up but someone should point out the outright lies.

Hmmmm. Thanks. I think I'll do that myself.

I found this little tidbit on CBSNews.com. Most Americans think Obama is running a cleaner campaign than Mr. McCain. That's a shocker, isn't it?:blink:

Obama seen as running more positive campaign

And Casey, you blasted the MSNBC poll yesterday....but have had no problem posting poll numbers when they benefited McCain.

Just wondering where the flip-flopping is coming from?

Roman, what world are you living in? I have never blasted any poll on this thread...Please stop making up stuff about me..

Thanks...love you too... :D I love everybody here...I have more respect for people that actually care about our country even if we disagree about ideology!

There are many (too many) Americans out there that don't even care or are indifferent to politics.

Now maybe you can watch this clip and explain it to me.....it's about why being close to Russia makes someone a foreign policy but the logic went slowly by me....

Here's something with which I agree....total photo op:

For the GAZZILLIONTH time, McCain has not, did not, and will not politicize this budget thing. Freakin' liberal pirhanas on this thing, looking for fresh meat, but there ain't none:

Here was Bob Schieffer speaking with the Early Show's Maggie Rodriguez at 7:05 AM EDT today:

BOB SCHIEFFER: I am told, Maggie, that the way McCain got involved in this in the first place, the Treasury Secretary was briefing Republicans in the House yesterday, the Republican conference, asked how many were ready to support the bailout plan. Only four of them held up their hands. Paulson then called, according to my sources, Senator Lindsey Graham, who is very close to John McCain, and told him: you've got to get the people in the McCain campaign, you've got to convince John McCain to give these Republicans some political cover. If you don't do that, this whole bailout plan is going to fail. So that's how, McCain, apparently, became involved.

Continued Schieffer . . .

SCHIEFFER: He has gotten what he wants, he's going to have this meeting, kind of a summit today with the president and Barack Obama. I'm told that the leaders of both parties are getting close to having some kind of a bill. The question, though, is whether rank-and-file Republicans, especially, are going to vote for this.

And from former Democratic President Bill Clinton:

"We know he didn't do it because he's afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates," Clinton said, adding that he was "encouraged" by the joint statement from McCain and Sen. Barack Obama.

"You can put it off a few days the problem is it's hard to reschedule those things," Clinton said, "I presume he did that in good faith since I know he wanted -- I remember he asked for more debates to go all around the country and so I don't think we ought to overly parse that."

Wales, Wales, Wales.....you didn't get that? It's like, well, Russia is right next door and the other side is like Canada and you see...when Putin raises his head, where you do think he's looking? Alaska! Don't you get that???:lol:
