Okay, dude... I baited you with this one. I'll let Casey go on about the hypocrisy of judging Condi's actions while you keep silent about yours...

But, since you asked for transparency... I altered the membership process for the WoST website so that all new membership fees taken in were collected and ultimately gifted in full to the Red Cross to help hurricane victims. In addition to what was raised in new memberships, we pulled from the WoST account to send off a total contribution of $1,000.

How is that for transparency? Anything else you need to know?

Dude, it's up to you. What you tell is your business, seeing as you like to spend time baiting people instead of accepting anyone's stances that disagree with yours.

but knock yourself out. If that's how you want to spend your day......RIGHT ON! Z

(BTW, I'll judge Condi's action any way I want to. Don't need yours or Casey's permission. Just wanted to whisper that to you. Kay, Buuuuuudddddy? :P:lol: )

I think any person of color can be bigoted, but in order to be a racist, one must feel superior to another race. I don't know how black americans can be racist, by that logic, if we as a ethnic group do not feel superior.

But bigoted? Oh yes. Any older black people that one may cross may hold deep-seated bigotry towards whites. Wrong as it is, that's the way it is. I guess.

I pretty much defended her. Since I don't know what anyone else in the cabinet was doing then I don't want to single her out. I don't have an issue with her. I don't agree with her on Iraq and maybe a host of other things but she seems to be serious about her job.

To me this is like saying the Republicans should get credit for freeing the slaves. Here's why I would never give credit for that.....there shouldn't have been any slaves in the first place. Abraham Lincoln did what should have been done and probably for the wrong reasons, but the result was the right one so good enough.

He could have chosen some old white guy and as long as the old white guy knew what he was doing then fine. I assume that Condoleeza Rice knows her job and knows foreign policy so the fact that she has a powerful job in the Bush administration isn't indicative of the Republicans status as an EEOE.....maybe it's symbolic..are you pointing to her as a token black hire?

This is like an opening for a big joke pool for me and so here I go......all the black people need to get over to the White House and sing We overcame.....:lol:

OK. I'm catching up here.....

IA that I would absolutely love to see Colin Powell run. He is one of the few times that I'd probably vote R, as long as he doesn't take some of their more radical views on certain issues.

Here is what I have found of Obama's voting record IRT civil rights as posted on votesmart.org. This isn't a complete list, just an example of how he's voted in the past. It's a very fair, unbiased record of both candidates voting records.

I should have clarified what I meant by "funny". Sarcasm gets the best of me sometimes so no...I didn't mean "ha ha" funny.

I can't believe I'm saying this again. Bush has to be one of the most social conservatives ever elected. Cases in point: amending the constitution to declare same sex marriage illegal and Terry Schiavo.

And for me, that makes their racism so much more problematic than in the days when racists would put on the white hoods. At least you knew where they stood on this issue - as horrible as it was. Today's society disallows that behavior, and very rightfully so, and now we have duplicitous people instead. Smiling in your face and hating you the minute you are out of their sight. That's very scary to me. That said, I'm not sure what can be done about it, it's just the times we live in.

ICAM bigotry runs both ways. I suppose I'm more inclined to agree with Roman's definition of racism regarding black v white. But bigotry... most definitely a two way street.

One other thing I wanted to say about this from a personal perspective. Growing up, my father had to be one of the most racist people I knew. The "N" word flowed freely from his lips anytime he got the opportunity to use it. My mother, however, completely forbade us to use that word and rightfully so. I can't remember the time when I realized my father's viewpoints were wrong, but it was at a very early age as I had black friends even in kindergarten. I never once did I get the impression that they were any less than myself, as my father often would pontificate on. I just didn't see it. So even though someone may grow up in a household with someone that spouts that kind of hatred does not guarantee that it will be carried on to the next generation.

What would one have to do to be considered an EOE if not hire a diverse work force?

The thought never crossed my mind...Is that what you feel about Bush's selection of Rice?

Seems strange to call for equality, and then when equality is reached to a certain degree....it's just symbolic or a token...What does it take to make it real in your eyes?

Where did his racism stem from? Because my grandfather was bigoted against whites. Love him to death, and he was my idol growing up, but I just think that he and I came from two different time periods.

Oh, I know you didn't mean funny "ha ha". I was just saying that, for a foreign policy expert, he sure missed the boat on that one.

It doesn't mean much really. A judge just doesn't want any documents headed to a shredder between now and a later date... the later date possibly being when someone might want to look at the records.

I think they don't want a big shredding party between now and January. When Clinton left office, a ton of crap was shredded and lost forever.

Of course, the constant underlying suspicion of Cheney will always be there and every rock will be overturned in search of something solid to pin on him. But, let's be honest... even if there is something there... what would ever happen to him? That's right, nothing.
