After some talk with some friends (and a great one at that), I realized that my "stupid" comment may have offended some people. Though I feel that way, I probably should have worded it differently.

Don't worry about it, Ryan. We all say things at times that are not right...you are forgiven ;)

Mccain may be able to get a few votes out of it in California but i don't think it will be enogh to put the state in play.

McCain won't win in California...we are still solid blue out here ;)

Really!! I think whoever is pitching that concept ought to be made aware that Gore speaks of global warming and not hell freezing over.

No one's pitching that idea. Here's the series:

if Obama had Al Gore in his cabnet i would vote for him no doubt.

and ikm sure by now we all know i do not like the man.

Could John McCain tempt you with Al Gore? McCain is presently trying to distinguish himself from Bush on the environment and might see Al Gore as a great partner in that cause (not that I think Al Gore would align himself with JM) but if he could, would it work for you?

Yes.

I don't know how that led to the comment to which you responded but you can see it was a hypothetical situation I presented to JP as to how big of an effect Al Gore might have on his voting choice.

Al Gore would not accept VP under McCain...it just won't happen

Who said McCain would offer him VP in the first place? I laid out this hypothetical in which I clearly stated that I did not think Al Gore would align himself with McCain and you've twice posted as if someone suggested it were plausible. I don't know if you're skimming and not getting the gist of the posts but let me repeat again that no one said it would happen or even that it might happen.

Now if you're just posting any old thing in an attempt to boost your total number of posts that's another thing all together.

I am just going by what you proposed to JP and how if he would be content to go with McCain if Al Gore is on the ticket. I know nobody said it would happen...and it won't happen ;)

It's no big deal. I don't doubt that McCain would try to lure Gore. I about halfway expect it. Remember Gore did select Liberman as his running mate and now Liberman is running all over the country with McCain. I personally can not envision a situation in which McCain and Gore would hook up. My response about hell freezing over was just based on one page worth of posts. I didn't want to go all the way back and read the history, oops.

In response to the initial question, which I acknowledge was not written to me, I would not vote for McCain because he selected Gore. I think it is an interesting question. You know, I can not think of a single scenario that would make me vote for McCain. I don't dislike the man, I just disagree with his every policy position.

Someone has been thinking at the forum I post at that Lieberman is wanting to be the VP with John McCain...those two traitors deserve each other.

I know Lieberman touts himself as an independent. The only reason he is an independent is because he lost the Democratic primary. I guess he's a real loyal guy! McCain talked about switching to the Democratic party cuz he was mad at Bush. I bet Lieberman will be his VP choice.

Yep I just wish Ned Lamont had beaten him in 2006...he is no good anymore in the U.S. Senate.

McCain may have been mad at him but yet he hugged him in 2004 after Bush smeared him like no other in 2000. Once figuring that out, I lost respect for him.

Huckabee jokes about Obama ducking a gunman

Posted: 08:28 PM ET

From CNN Associate Political Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand

Watch Huckabee's joke at the NRA Convention Friday. (starting at 0:50).

(CNN) – During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman.

“That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak,” said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. “Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor.”

Obama supports extending the assault weapons ban, limits on gun sales, and a national law against carrying concealed weapons, with exceptions for retired police and military personnel. John McCain – whose legislative record was awarded a C+ rating by the NRA in 2004, but has received a perfect score – will address the group later Friday afternoon. His speech will include remarks "on the issue of unconditional negotiation with state sponsors of terror" that aides tell CNN’s Dana Bash are a direct response to Obama’s comments earlier Friday.

UPDATE, 8:28 PM: Huckabee released the following statement regarding his comments Friday, according to the New York Times website:

During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.

He seems like an okay man but I don't like his politics. Right now it's hard to tell whether he changed his mind about a lot of things or whether he still thinks the same and is just pandering.

I don't know what got into Huckabee but that wasn't at all funny. At least he apologized and hopefully he won't go that route again.

I have much respect for Chris Matthews for saying that he wouldn't run the clip on his show yesterday. He mentioned the Kennedys and MLK.

In case you haven't seen this Chris Matthews vs. Kevin James in can you answer this question:
