Can someone briefly explain to me how this $700 billion bail out is going to help? From an knowledgeable person (me), it seems like, "Hey, no matter how bad things get, we will always come to the rescue." How is this going to teach others to not do the same thing if they're going to be bailed out anyway?

Let me just say I was totally wrong about saying palin was the better vp choice than biden, I think I said this like 2 or 3 weeks ago. After seeing Pallin's interviews with Couric, Gibson, and meeting with press by herself this woman just really needs to be quiet. Almost everything that comes out of her mouth seems dumb somehow. JM really needs to coach her about meeting with press and doing interviews, oh wait he's not much better. Those two are two peas in a pod and they really do complement each other. I'm sorry but people that are really considering voting for McCain really need to ask themselves are you really okay with pallin being president if god forbid something happened to McCain? McCain is 72, hot tempered, and has a history of cancer, so his health is an issue.

I haven't fully watched the debate, but the snippets that I have seen makes obama look like the winner.

I'm okay with the bailout if none of the CEO's of these companies get any money and people that have had to leave their homes because of not being able to pay the mortgage get to move back into their homes. I think its interesting that they want a bailout but when it came to people losing their homes they weren't given the time of day. Not saying that the homeowners didn't have any of the blame, but its really hypocritical for them to think we the U.S. tax payers many of whom have lost their homes would want to bail them out when they don't even have a home to go to.

EK I agree, this woman is just plain scary and should be the last person that should put in a position of power.

I recall her saying that she would be prepared to go to war with Russia over the Georgia stuff. And if this happened IMHO I think that what Russia could do can make 9/11 look like a sunday school picnic.

But then I do believe that McCain only chose her cuz Obama was the democrate choice and Hilary was not his running mate and he wants the female vote. And had Hilary won the Democrat vote then I think that McCain more than likely would have chosen an African American as her funning mate

I watched PBS during the conventions too. I agree, it was very good and right up the middle. I watched the debates on CNN because they had the audience monitor.

Tina Fey was great. The debate skit was very funny too. At the end, they showed "Hillary" and said they had invited her in case McCain didn't show.

GREETINGS FELLOW DEBATERS!

We're still having a wonderful time here on the beautiful Central Coast of California, but I did want to take a few minutes to check in and say hello to you all. Please note that, although I did not watch the debate, I caught glimpses of it from a restaurant here.

I somehow managed yesterday to snap a photo of the debate on TV -- great two-shot of John and Barrack... a particularly heated exchange. I'm sure you all will remember this moment:

DEBATE2008.jpg

John McCain and Barrack Obama square off in a heated exchange.

I should add that the third party back there is Bob Barr. He's dejected because they wouldn't let him debate.

Just one of the more interesting debate moments I've seen this weekend! Seriously, that was taken about 4 miles north of San Simeon on Highway 101 on the Central Coast. Talk about awesome to see these guys up close and personal!! Hearst Castle was way cool, too... The tour guide noted that Hearst, despite his wealth, was ANYTHING but CONSERVATIVE!! Happy debating to you all... will talk to you soon!

--Brian

    • The Hollands obviously had long term story in place for Lee/Caroline/Bobby etc but when the Pollocks arrived they quickly wrapped it up with the new diagnosis and sent them packing. That could have been it for Lee but I think the Elmans brought Lee/Scotty back in their short stint.  Somebody must have regretted dumping Lee.I'm sure Peter Hansen was happy to get the call to return.
    • You have to stop and think: was Estelle the mother to all five children?  How many Mrs. Kendalls existed? Linda Cook played Aileen Kendall in flashbacks, but, at the time, we thought she was the only prior Mrs. Kendall.  It seemed that Aileen’s name was changed to Estelle when Domini Blythe came on.  But Lloyd (Peter Haskell) is said to be going through a divorce when he’s introduced (and when he’s pursuing Sunny).  To me, Aileen is Estelle, and the mother to all the children. The wife Lloyd is divorcing is inconsequential.  Wendy’s fate is never resolved.
    • Oh you are probably right. I thought Marland brought him back but that must have been an interim writer. Tex somebody...?
    • Do you have Days Breakdown list for Thurs 22 May 25 please?
    • I just hope it doesn’t become a constant thing. Like with Days, it’s funny the first time, but after the 475th time, it isn’t anymore.
    • Marland killed them? I thought that was someone else.
    • Jibre/Jacob is moving to the top of my list. Such a likeable presence. Give Jacob/Naomi a home set! Ted's jacket ... Stating that Derek/Ashley have been together 2 years kinda undermines the story. If it had been say 6 months, then problems might be arising-but after 2 years?? The ATWT reference was cute-but of course Dr Nicole only knew about the show through patients-God forbid she ever watched it herself! Might have been cuter had she said she got hooked through patients and ended up taping it herself and watching it at home to unwind.
    • I hate it too but people casualy posting it so openly is dumb as hell. Especially when it’s known that they are hunting them down.
    • Wasn't Taylor Miller still playing Nina during the period that Devon was on the show? She was also written out around the time Julia Barr left and Brooke was recast. I wonder if they brought her back because being the doomed non-Nina love interest to Cliff was something they didn't want to give to a woman they cared about, and they didn't want to create yet another Kennicott relation. Then having her for the Lynn Carson story also made sense because if there was intense viewer backlash, she could easily be written out.
