No Obama never advocated sex education to kindergarten. In fact, it is one of the few lies that McCain has walked away from. Obama advocated teaching children about pedaphiles nothing more and nothing less. The ad has been discredited.

Also, allowing local school boards to determine what is appropriate for their local school districts is not only appropriate it is totally consistent with what someone would think a conservative would support: local control of schools and government at the lowest level.

The ad flap is twisting words to justify a lying ad. McCain has been pretty shameless. The fact that he walked away from this one shows how bad the ad was.

Okay she just pointed out one of those things that make you go hmmmmm

The North Virginian Republicans put George Allen of Macaca fame to help with minority outreach. I looked him up:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/18/w...e-macaca-allen/

Oh and the prized Hillraiser turned McCain supporter was on CNN last night criticizing Obama for being elitist and for saying people were bitter but she called those people rednecks.....essentially saying that McCain is good for rednecks. I guess she'll be meeting up with Carly Fiorina soon.:lol:

Paul Begala is giving out campaign distraction advice for Obama and he thinks he's a comeidan. He said that McCain needs to start saying that Obama has a black baby and that he dodged the draft (since he was hiding out in the sixth grade).

This might be the worst strategy I have ever seen. It would seem there would be no way to prove one way or the other her reasons for firing the safety commissioner. It's already been demonstrated that her husband and others made calls. I have to wonder what else is out there that the McCain/Palin camp is afraid will come out in testimony? There must be something otherwise, I think she'd say let's get this thing over with now and move on. That way any delays would splash on the legislature rather than her.

So, Jess, you deny these quotes are attributed to Barry?

"Barack Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergarteners," said Obama mimicking [Alan] Keyes' distinctive style of speech. "Which -- I didn't know what to tell him (laughter). But it's the right thing to do," Obama continued, "to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools."

"'Nobody's suggesting that kindergartners are going to be getting information about sex in the way that we think about it. If they ask a teacher 'where do babies come from,' that providing information that the fact is that it's not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing. Although again, that's going to be determined on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards.'"

By the way, here is the copy from that McCain ad:

Legislation to teach "comprehensive sex education" to kindergartners.

Learning about sex before learning to read?

Barack Obama.

Please tell me, Jess, what is inaccurate about any of that?

I think that is campaigning at its worst. He could not very well say they weren't true after the flack he has gotten. LOL. Damn, how many times as he been on Morning Joe? Steve's post was pretty insightful.

Friday night is probably not a good night for a debate. I think these debates have attracted a lot of interest, however, so who know.. Usually debates don't make much of a difference unless a candidate screws up. Maybe these will be different.

Did you not have time to read Steve's post which very clearly pointed out what was wrong with the ad? Or was it just simply inconvenient to accept?

By the way the line Learning about sex before learning to read? is a lie on its face. Also, I see you chose to break the quote:" But it's the right thing to do," Obama continued, "to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools." in a very convenient place. Was that done deliberately to leave the impression that he was suggesting what Alan Keyes accused him of doing was the right thing to do, rather than what Obama actually said which was providng age-appropriate sex education in the schools was the right thing to do?

This manipulation of people's words is what sucks and the Republican Party has become master at it.

That Bay woman on Larry King really thinks they're going to teach all aspects of sex-education to kindergartner's with that bill....

It wasn't supposed to be FULL ON. It was supposed to be age appropriate, which I assume just means keeping your hands away from where they shouldn't be.

Isn't it a little ironic that there's a 17 year old on McCain's side that happens to be pregnant, and they're against sex education....?

    • I feel bad for judging a child, but, to be fair, she's over 40 now. My daughter was into Halloweentown when it reran on the Disney Channel in the 2010s. I wasn't impressed then, either.
    • Isn't that funny how certain memories as young children stick with you through life... Haha I totally get what you mean. That's how I felt with GL in the beginning, but then I got used to it. Seeing so many of my favorite AMC characters on GL was wild - Walker, Irizarry, Dusay, Budig, Aleksander, Gil Rogers, etc.  Ironically, it helps that Irizarry and Dusay played both mother/son in both shows. I know Marcy Walker was wasted on GL as Tangie, but selfishly I'm so glad she was. When she left GL and returned immediately to AMC as Liza Colby, man was it such a great storyline. The Tad/Dixie/Liza triangle was so emotional, tense and memorable. The AMC fans got lucky with that one. WRCW, Tad/Liza working together, the affair, then Jason Sheffield and the shooting on-set... all amazing stuff.   LOL!
    • I remember thinking that he was fantastic after Reva's 1990 "death," with his grief and attempted relationship with Harley. I also remember the cute Marah, not the toothy chick from Halloweentown.
    • Totally agree - we have much to learn about Vernon, and I'd love to see it.
    • I've enjoyed Vernon but I wouldn't be opposed to learning more about his life beyond his political work. What kind of family does he come from? Does he have any siblings? I feel like that could be an interesting thing to look at.
    • GH:       A- DAYS:   A- BTG:     B- B&B:     F Y&R:     F
    • I've always said, Robert Newman does not get enough credit for the popularity of Josh/Reva. Had he stayed in '91, and had years to build other relationships before Kim returned, I'm not sure we'd have been stuck with "always".
    • Bizarrely, while I didn't see it, I distinctly remember my younger sister telling me. We were walking to the store, and at the top of the hill she let out "Roger raped Holly", and I swear I remember it echoing for what seemed like forever. She would've been five at the time.  I know,,,which I find extraordinary. I have toyed with the idea of watching Another World for Maeve, Kathleen Widdoes and Beverlee. But watching Vanessa call Emma Snyder "momma" kinda weirded me out. LOL. I believe that's what I read in the recaps from the time as well. I meant, I couldn't quite believe that the audience wouldn't understand that a woman preparing to go to her engagement party  was raped. I know that on ATWT John raped Kim while they were married, resulting in Andy, but I think they shied away from calling that marital rape.
    • I have my fingers crossed for a baby to be named Monica Michelle & called Monica. And, yes, I do realize that is not equal to having her onscreen but, like you said & of course a recast is unthinkable.
    • I would love to have Monica on screen. Leslie Charleson has died. She played the role for 46 years. Monica should pass as well. No one is going to accept a long-term recast for Monica, no matter how great  the actress they could get.
