True. I don't know anything for a fact. I just think that TPTB have such a hate-on for anyone who talks out of school. I don't see him working anywhere in daytime as long as that blog is up.

Yeah, the HW, lol. So if TC had encountered problems while writing his breakdowns, the fact that he couldn't call LML says something.

Exactly, lol.

Hogan Sheffer: Hi Tom [Casiello], it's Hoag. Listen, Sony has decided not to pick up [enter associate writer name here]'s option, and we really need someone...and Babs seems okay with it, too. Interested?

TC: Nah, I'm much happier starving being a "fan."

Yeah, Mark, lol. I can't see that happening either.

Frankly, Y&RWorldTurner, that's no excuse. Clinton received who-knows-how-many blow-jobs from Lewinsky...but he still found time to balance the budget. It's all about time management. ;)

I mean, how dumb is to ask LML, who a writer should know has had no previous relationship with the show, a question about Y&R? So you just made Tom Casiello seem like a fool.

Be nice. We love our Tommy.

Do you think TPTB, who disregard our "very very very small" internet communities, even KNOW about TC's blog? And, would they REALLY care? He's been very careful to be respectful, and not to tell too many personal tales.

But, if the blog is harming him, then I'd rather he shut it down and post on here under some kind of pseudonym. Although I don't imagine any past or current writers would actually do that....

Technically speaking, however, part of the HW's job is to address all concerns coming from the associate writers. After all, who else edits their scripts and breakdowns (provided, they don't have an official script editor already on staff)? And even if the HW, like LML, has no prior relationship with the show, 1) they should know enough (either through research, or their own viewing) of the show and its' history to handle most, if not all, questions about factual stuff; and 2) they should be experienced enough to handle not just the basics of soap writing, but dramatic writing in general. IOW, TC isn't a "fool", because he asks LML for help. If anything, LML is foolish, because she can't or won't.

I would say no, except SOD wrote all about the blog after the Days firings. Posted the URL and everything.

And yes, they would care. They didn't want Nelson Branco at a party because he talked about all that Nuke garbage controversey. You think they'd want someone in their employ who talks about it?

I think Hogan will be a much better fit for Y&R then he was at DAYS. Hogan was quite good at ATWT the first half of his tenure especially when he had Carolyn Culliton under him teaching him. Hogan credits Carolyn for teaching him to write a soap. After Carolyn exited and Jean P replaced things went south and by Hogan's last year things had really gone down. At DAYS it was just a bad fit for him, he was micromanaged, and I think Hogan was not as passionate about the characters as he was on ATWT. On Y&R he has an opportunity to do that. Did anyone know Hogan was very courted by ABC to take over AMC before they got Pratt. Bloom loves Hogan and wanted him for Y&R and courted him and she won. I hope Hogan deleves into the wonderful characters of Y&R. Can anyone imagine though if Ron Carlivati was taking over Y&R? I love him too much at OLTL but I cannot help but think what Carlivati would do for Genoa City.

No. I can't.

I think part of what makes Ron so successful is his long-term love of OLTL. It's the show he grew up on, the show he was a fan of long before he became a soap writer. I'm very VERY wary of him taking on another show.

Ron Carlivati is only meant for OLTL, the same way Natalie Minardi Slater is only meant for Y&R. It's the only soap they've ever worked for, and unlike most of their colleagues, they haven't been passed from soap to soap. They know their respective shows in and out, I don't think they'd have major writing chemistry elsewhere (I could be wrong, but that's how I feel).

    • GET THAT HEFFA, NOSY NURSE!!!   I'm sorry to see Smitty and June coming to a middle ground. It seem like that tension would be between them for at least one more story arc. A writing change?   I'm sorry but I love the teen unit of Ty, Samantha, and Jessica (and Rocco, Danny, Charlotte over on GH which is what today is reminding me of). I'm a sucker for soap teens. lol.
    • I really hope Laura doesn’t get reelected. She doesn’t deserve it. Imagine her campaign staff, freaking out at the Metro Court as election results come in while she’s hanging out with Sonny.
    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? Is it just me or did they never even say the name of this soap opera? Days wasn't new in 1973 and there was no "Jack" with three daughters on The Young and the Restless. What soap are they talking about? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
    • Something I didn't realize: Frank Ashmore, who played Monica's investigator Corrigan in 1981, was also Victor, the third guy in the cockpit, in Airplane!
    • Thanks, maybe I will skim through those episodes.  I have previously binged late 1985 through early 1987; April-June, August 1992 (I skipped Carlo Hesser murder trial), Jan-March 1995 and I began watching in 2006. I just struggle to stay consistent with routines especially binging routines haha
    • I could've sworn we went over the Bobbie thing a while ago, and saw her introduced to Rick and Lesley as "Nurse Barbara" in very late '77? Or was that early '78? I know the clip is online. Jackie always credited Marland with creating her IIRC.
    • Thanks.  Loon Lake - very on the nose. With that "dad" outfit Bo looks even more like Cassie's father...
