Y&RWorldTurner, do you know what was Paul Rauch's time at fi]OLTL and Santa Barbara like?

Yes, HORRIBLE! AW was Rauch's only real success story. He got lost in campy excess at OLTL, SB, and GL. In fact, he was SB's last EP and the one many consider to have done the most damage to the show.

As I said before, with Jill it depends with the writer that works on the shows she's EP of.

Then she just sucks, doesn't she? All she needs to destroy a show is a bad writer.

I think the point is quite the opposite, actually: the EP should do everything in his/her power to make a show better when the writing sucks.

And she isn't doing it. And never did it.

Lol, I like Amanda...but you can't deny she doesn't belong in that list.

I used to have "Friends for Amanda L. Beall" in my signature.....notice it's not there anymore ;)

You mean she does belong there with all the hacks?

I think if one side sucks, then that side needs to be fired. As I said before, from a production stand point, Jill is great. I also know of many writers that adore her, including Harding LeMay, who called her the most intelligent producer he's ever worked with.

July 4th episode did it, I think! The one she co-wrote with Addie Walsh.

I"ll always love me some Amanda

I noticed Ryan and a little disappointed

I may put it back. I just need some time. AMC's team was severely letting me down a few months ago, that's why I removed it

I disagree, kind of. In this case, she needs to be gone and recharge her batteries! But she certainly knows good sets and music!

I remember that! He said how she knows how to point out to all the plot holes and non sequiturs etc.

I think the whole problem was when you have hacks that just have no freakin vision it weighs the best of them down.

I agree with you 100%. I think one of the rare exceptions is Karen Harris and Michele Val Jean. With those two you know you're in store for a good episode.

and Guza's writers are so damn loyal to him......MVJ and KH should have left GH long ago.

God forbid! No one leaves! Except Guza!

I'd even keep Korte, but I would demote her. If MVJ cannot be the next HW, then let her be the next SE.

That's what I said. Didn't I?

:D;) I'm glad you started posting in this particular thread again. :P

But as a SW, what can she do? Nothing! Just write dialogue! She's not bad at that!

Harding LeMay's exact quote on Jill:

http://iriswheeler.tripod.com/sodonline1997.html

LEMAY: I think a good producer is a person who brings out of the writer, the actor and the technicians more than they knew they could do. The best producer I have ever worked with is a lady named Jill Farren Phelps. She can sit in a room with five or six writers and myself as a consultant, and can rip apart a whole week of breakdowns and you sit there and say "My god, she is absolutely right!" She has an amazing gift of being outside of it as well as being inside of it. She can look at it from the outside. She deals beautifully with actors. She got David Forsythe [John] and Linda Dano [Felicia] to do that crucial scene with Anna Holbrook [sharlene] in the triangle they were doing. She got amazing things out of those actors. Paul was a marvelous producer but he was difficult to deal with. You had to fight him. I had to bully him.

I love it when this thread is on fire!

Is THAT why you keep adding fuel? :-)
