AMC: New Head Writer(s)

Okay so I think most, if not, all of us here are not pleased with B&E especially after reading a spoiler about Spike (check it out in the spoiler section), so if AMC was to get a new head writer or writers, who would you want it to be?

I say promote from within and give the position to Jeff Beldner. He knows the show's history, has been there for a long time, and actually knows what he is doing. I say go for Jeff!

When she came back in 2003, the ratings were pretty meh. It wasn't until early Spring 2004 (with the baby switch) that AMC started kicking butt in the ratings.

I believe there were times when AMC was #2 in HH and #1 in the 18-49 demo.

(IIRC, of course).

No wonder it took Frons so long to get rid of her. She can do good for ratings, sometimes.

I would agree with the Beldner recommendation. He's a wonderful storyteller, and you know who came up with most of the story ideas when Lorraine Broderick was writing the show from 1995-97? Beldner. As a gay male, he came up with the Michael/Kevin storylines. He also suggested bringing back Skye, Liza, and Marian to the show. The plane crash that killed Maria was also his idea.

(P.S. Stephen Demorest and Hal Corley get a lot of credit for helping Hogan out at ATWT, but I bet Jeff Beldner played a BIG hand. He is a HW's best ally).

Yeah, they do! LOL B&E are a curse (LOV, City, PC).

As much as I like JHC, I have to agree. It's time for her to go. She's cleary burnt out.

I'm not to sure here. I like Walsh, Demorest, Beall, Patrick, Beldner.

For Head Writers, I'd choose Michelle Patrick & Kay Alden.

Yep I agree about a new EP. Carruthers needs to go...let's get Francesca James to return as the EP or Wendy Riche. After all, Riche did win GH five Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series and, under her and Claire Labine, the show was at its best and did not rely too much on action adventure to drive the story (e.g. GH in the 80s)

    • All I'll say is that she returns at just the right time, and she's even more entertaining when she returns than before she went away.  lol.
    • She's my new avatar on Instagram. I flove her. I'm so afraid we are going to lose her to bigger things. She also writes and directs. I predict she will be a huge star.
    • I was a bit confused with the Paige storyline at first but it's also helped that people on the board have been so kind to fill in gaps for me. It is nice to have a soap to watch again as I have not watched a soap in a very long time. It's also rare to see characters talk to each other without the scenes being cut into every 90 seconds.   That's encouraging. So far so good.    I am going to miss Raven as she added so much. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll see less of Geraldine as she is another character I'm drawn to. Hope Raven's absence is not a long one.
    • @Ryanc2 Welcome -you've got a lot of catching up to do! We talk about Derek/Ashley, but how much do we really know about Naomi/Jacob apart from they have a bedroom set to make out in? Maybe more time needed to be spent in the first months establishing them better-(give them a proper set for a start) as well as the Bill/Ted dynamic and other familial relationships and ditch Hayley/Derek altogether or make them supporting/talk to for Jacob/Naomi.
    • I’m glad we’ve spent enough time with the character to know how shed Brooke Logan her way through this.
    • Felicia becomes more layered/balanced in the early 90s (circa 1991/1992/1993).   She leans more into the more down to earth element that you like, while still being Felicia of the 80s.  The process starts in 1989.. but doesn't really become apparent until the early 90s.   Iris was the rare connector character with her having a role at the hospital (I think she's on the board), working at Cory Publishing, and having romantic flirtations/connections with a lot of the male characters between 1988 and 1994.  Which resulted in her having interactions with the other female contemporaries (Donna, Felicia, Rachel) even if the three didn't always interact with one another. Writing her off in the fall of 1994 severed one of the main connections/bridges with the different orbits.  Irony that the show didn't see her value.
    • Which is why I feel that when they do introduce that family it will more than likely be Jacob's family. Otherwise why establish them slowly but surely?
    • ROFL.  priceless.   There are also countless mentions how wonderful Claire is, but I could not stomach watching a compilation of that!
    • The air...is looooooooooong gone.
