TVguide.ca: 2006 Dream Emmy ballot

TVGuide.ca narrows down next year’s race by listing our perfect Emmy tally with fresh faces plus a few usual suspects

For your consideration: it’s never too late, y’all, to dish Emmys or get your award freak on. Posters on the TheEnvelope.com Daytime Emmys forum do it every day all year round.

So listen up, NATAS members — Emmy voting is around the corner, and it’s time for a healthy reminder of who should be applauded and recognized for their fine work this past year.

Below is my ideal Emmy tally: a mix of fresh faces, usual suspects, and a couple of shockers for fun (hey, we’re not curing cancer here – let’s honour the industry and have fun, too!). For my critics out there, this is not a science — I simply listed as many deserving actors as they came to my mind. If only one-third of this list is nominated, I’ll be happy.

With NATAS revamping the Emmy nomination and voting system as you read this, it is once again possible for more than two nominees from the same show on the final ballot — which I’ve never been against unless, of course, the nods are not justified and instead all about the high school popularity game daytime seems obsessed with.

Anything is possible now that the pre-nominations system has been scrapped; perhaps, unlike last year, the Emmys will actually award deserving winners next year. What a concept!

POST-IT NOTE TO THE ACADEMY: NEW CATEGORY

Can someone puh-lease create a Special Guest Star category — because you look ridiculous without it and will help take the heat off of the insanely overcrowded supporting acting categories. Also, NATAS members don’t wait until Mimi Torchin, former editor of Soap Opera Weekly, galvanizes you; get on the horn — it’s your industry.

Also, if he has any sense, he would know that Hansis (well for part of the year), Ferris, Johnson, and Graziadei are not eligible for the Younger Actor category.

Why do I see Bradley Cole's name in one of those categories?

Why are there so many nominees in every cateogory? Not a dream ballott just a waste of time especially since some of those younger actors he throw out are over the age limit. Jay Johnson is 30.

And many of those dream nomiantions for the Supporting categories are a joke...

I'll say. Kyle Lowder but not Lesli Kay? :o

So according to this fool, a few weeks ago Jake Silbermann was one of the worst actors in daytime, now he deserves a Emmy nod????

I agree though he deserves one. :)

I don't think he deserves anything, he's a very wooden actor. I'll never understand what you see in him, Clint.

Hansis I think deserves a nomination, but he didn't have much meaty material for when he was eligible this past year. Most of his meaty material came after he hit 26. Unless, of course, he's submitted for Supporting, but I don't know if they'll go that route.

Even Pinocchio could get splinters from the guy.

This guy is smokin' crack. There's NO WAY Bradley Cole should be nominated for an Emmy. If he feels that he HAS to nominate a guy from GL for supporting then why not.........? <Nevermind> : (

I can see GH winning Outstanding Drama overall and Best Wrting to be honest but thats just me....

I think Jake S is a decent actor.

What about the scene stealer of the year? Phillipe Jean Marie as Vincent on PASSIONS.

I would like to see The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of our lives nominated for Best Drama Series. :)
