It really won't change anything, CBS will still bloc vote like hell. However, the pre-noms were selected based on votes from only cast-members or chosen by producers, so if your cast-mates or producers didn't like you, like Victoria Rowell, you weren't given a pre-nom, even if you had the material.

Now, each show has to let registered castmembers, directors, and producers from each show vote. That's bound to mix up the pre-noms from each show, since it isn't only based on castmembers or from producer's choices on each show.

On Beverlee McKinsey, she was nominated three times under the old system for her role as the original Iris Cory on Another World. However, during the 91-92 season, she gave what was considered by many critics to be the best performance of the season as the original Alexandra Spaulding on GL, and was considered a shoe-in for an Emmy win, yet she was never nominated, This was under the old system mind you.

Age always played a big factor on nominations for actors, Ry-Ry, even under the old system. For example, Judi Evans is the youngest person to win in the Supporting Actress for her role as the original Beth Raines on GL, she was only 20. Look at Sarah Joy Brown as well, she virtually carried GH in the late 90's, yet she was always considered for only the Younger Actress category. However, she was only upped to Supporting in 2000, she was 25, and won, but she could've still be considered for the Younger Actress category. Sarah is the second youngest person to ever win in that category.

As it stands for the Lead categories, Marcy Walker is the youngest person to ever for lead, she was 28 at the time of her win.

Ryan, as much as I hate Natalia's acting, her win can be justified. She submitted the best work of her career, when she was nominated for Supporting Actress in 2005. The breakup scenes with Zander were arguably the best work of Natalia's career. Also, GH has the best script and dialogue writer's in the business, which elevated Natalia's material.

Would I prefer for Robin Christopher to have won that year? Yes! However, I can now see why Natalia won.

PGP was as much to blame for AW's cancellation as NBC, let's not kid ourselves here. PGP never backed that show as well as it did GL and ATWT, and unlike GL and ATWT, AW was on a constant creative downward slope for a good 15 years before cancellation. PGP seemed way too happy to let NBC cancel that show.

I would've never canceled it for Passions though....

My favorite canceled soap opera would be ABC's Ryan's Hope. Never has a soap come close to portraying gritty realism with a perspective on the middle-class as well as RH. It also kept touch with great family drama, which made it even more universal. Claire Labine and Paula Avela Mayer were pure geniuses and knew how to write complex and intelligent characters. It might have slipped when ABC stupidly fired Claire Labine a few times in the 80's, but it was getting its footing again before it was canceled.

RH still holds the record for most Emmy wins in the Writing category, btw.

ABC is so lucky Claire Labine came back and saved GH in the early 90's. after the way they shafted her and RH.
