Marlena's Possession Re-Airs on SOAPnet

I do agree that JER's original turn to the supernatural isn't what killed DAYS, but what saved it. Yes it was different, but from the episodes I've seen, he did it well. During his second run he occasionally got it right, but tends to go too far and get burnt out. Ironically enough, I do believe he got his slow storytelling from his time at Y&R.

I would love to see what JER could do with an equal co-headwriter. Especially PSNS, which from this past week on DirecTV is still telling the same stories. They actually have restarted the Little Ethan secret with Allistar threatening death if Theresa tells Ethan.

Back to marathons, GH has had the most...

Luke and Laura (8 hours)

Luke and Laura (four or five hours)

Nikolas

Jason

Sonnylicious (which was aired multiple times)

Brenda, Brenda, Brenda

Christmas or Thanksgiving with the Quartermaines

DAYS

Bo and Hope

Olympic thing (although this was forced since the show was on hiatus)

Sami's Mother's Day marathon

Marlena's demon possesion

Y&R

Jump Into Genoa City

OLTL

From Jess to Tess which included episodes from the previous year. They could've used this time to showcase Erika Slezak's work in her DID story, but SOAPnet is run by an idiot.

AMC

I Love Erica

Tad the Cad

Then they've had several group marathons including "Who's Your Daddy," "Wedding Interruptus," maybe a general wedding one, then Best of 2006, Best Christmas and some others I'm probably forgetting.

I can understand SOAPnet not wanting to invest in more classic soaps, but the current ones they have already have an audience. I wish they'd give us more classic episodes so we'd have classic something. PSNS was able to air on Sci Fi, so why can't any other soap air prior to cancellation?

This Sunday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 10 pm/ET, SOAPnet will usher in Halloween with The Devil Made Me Do it: Marlena's Possession, a three-hour revisiting of the 1995 Days of Our Lives storyline that will never be forgotten — and not necessarily for the right reasons.

The first hour finds Kristen wising up to Marlena's "darker" side, as Doc morphs into a panther and then sics a swarm of bees on Shawn. Hour 2 has Marlena taking flight a few feet above her bed Exorcist/Ghostbusters-style, at which point it's decided, "Yeah, we need help from a higher power." Then at 10 pm, John will use all the power of his cocked eyebrow to battle the devil for his beloved's soul.

That was a funny rundown of just a handful of the absolutely ridiculous plot turns in that infamous storyline.

How can you not laugh when you think back to this storyline?
