Passions: To Return to NBC?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've been lurking for a long time and have decided to become a member. I have a good question to ask. Do you guys think Passions will come back to NBC if Today Show Hour 4 flops? I think they agreed to the 1-year DirecTV deal just so the show can stay in production if Today Show Hour 4 flops. That way, the show can come back to NBC just in time for the

show's 10th anniversary. Please respond. Thanks.

Definitely not. If a soap opera is canceled, there's no way back.

WOW! I am was so excited for a second. :(

Depends on how bad the Today Show does. I don't know. Passions has a 1 year deal with DirectTV.

Nope. The affiliate heads hated it. They will want that hour back before letting NBC put Passions back on.

That used to be true, but Passions has ALREADY re-written the rules.

I say it's not probable, but possible. And NBC has to listen to what affiliates want, but ultimately it is in charge... it could cut off any rogue affiliate.

Well I must admit there may be chance... the website on NBC.com will stay there too... I don't know really. We'll wait and see.

Interesting. No, VERY interesting.

I agree that NBC did cut the deal, in part, to keep it in holding while it waits out "Today." I mean, face it, guys, that hour is STILL NBC's no matter what. Even if "Today" tanks. So "Passions" could very easily go back. They didn't give it to the affiliates. That's the important thing. So, I hope "Days" rebounds and gives them reason to bring back "Passions." I can't see it on DTV. (Not paying $60 a month when I get cable for free - even though I ADORE this show! :()

Glad to hear about the NBC deal. I'll have to see what quality the episodes are in. They BETTER be high and DVD-downloadable. If not, I'll be forced to get DirecTV. lol...is that their plan all along? (I mean, come on, crystal clear eps on DTV for $60 is more economical than $20 a month on NBC.com for diminished quality, if that's the case -- THEN I can rationalize subscribing to DirecTV)

Bonnie Hunt's new talk show is going to air on NBC Universal stations starting next fall. I don't think the network is going to give an hour back to soaps. But at least they're making it available for a fee online. I wish I had that option when AW got the boot.
