August 26, 200718 yr Member Someone needs to get rid of TPTB at Soapnet. They're freakin' morons. Yes, and they can start with Brian "I'm a slave to GH and screw everyone else" Frons.
August 26, 200718 yr Member They are moving it around because fans complained when they moved Y&R to 11:00. I don't believe fan complaints matter one whit. I wish we could see the ratings somewhere on a weekly basis! They tried to young-down the audience by creating a three hour program block with One Tree Hill, the OC, and Days. I read somewhere that they DID reduce the median age of viewers a lot, at least for the 2 primetime shows. I never saw the overall numbers, though...so younger does not nec. mean more! As a Y&R viewer, Y&R was my sole link to Soapnet. I preferred the Soapnet 7 pm airing over the CBS 12:30 pm airing (which I Tivo'd) because of clearer digital picture and more soap-friendly ads, including behind-the-scenes stuff with Y&R stars. But, since I usually watch Y&R between 7-8 pm, there was no way I'd wait till the 11 pm airing to watch Soapnet. By not watching Y&R, I didn't learn about their other shows, marathons, special events, etc. I'm surmising that, as on the networks, the audience for Y&R was much larger than Days. Thus, by losing people like me, they were chopping off a whole bunch of folks who might have stuck with Soapnet. I'll bet that trickled into ratings for AMC/OTDL/GH...and I'll bet that DOOL lost much of the One Tree Hill/OC audience (because, after all, Days is still not as new and 'hip' as those primetime shows with the teenyboppers). Demos notwithstanding, Soapnet needs the strongest primetime lead-in that it can get! I think this switch PROVES that Y&R is the best primetime lead in...my guess is that it stays at 7 pm for a while now. I will "reward" the network by watching the SoapNet airing again. Since I watch between 7-8 pm (don't always start right at 7) this means I might actually not FF through all the ads too...which is the best kind of viewer :-). If many people are like me...Soapnet stands to make more money from more eyeballs, watching more real-time ads. Of course, there is a problem with this. I'm a 42-year old male. Not target demographic at all. Soapnet doesn't WANT me. Sigh. I can't help them there....

August 27, 200718 yr Member Does anyone think that it's possible that they did it for the summer, and now that lots of college kids are going back to school they're pushing Days back again? Or I guess maybe it wasn't bringing in the ratings in that slot ... *shrugs*
August 27, 200718 yr Member UGH. If I don't see it at two, this was a convienient time. Now, it's back to the non-convienient one....
August 27, 200718 yr Member Why didn't anyone tell me they were switching the marathon back too? Or was this a one-time deal?
August 27, 200718 yr Member I don't think it's a one time thing. I think them changing things to begin with flopped really bad, and now they switched things back. I still wonder if Days' ratings on Soapnet are really bad. IMO Y&R makes more sense to kick off the lineup for the night on Soapnet
August 27, 200718 yr Member Why didn't anyone tell me they were switching the marathon back too? Or was this a one-time deal? It was announced it would be changing to 9PM I think. it was in the news report here on SON. However, I didn't know they would be doing it already, as in last night. Sopanet is a mess. They don't even notify fans of changes far enough in advance to adjust their viewing habits. Frons has destroyed this once great channel dedicated to soap fans. It's appalling.

The article stated that fans complained about the move so thats why they moved it back..however I'm sure it reflected in the ratings also.
September 23, 200718 yr Member Here's how SOAPnet's primetime schedule should be like Monday to Friday (all time ET)... 6pm/am: Y&R 7pm/am: GH 8pm/am: OLTL 9pm/am: AMC 10pm/am: DOOL 11pm/am: Y&R
