DAYS: Alison Sweeney's Latest Blog

I just quoted the Ed Scott part: http://blog.nbc.com/alison/

As many of you know, there has been a behind-the-scenes ‘shake up’ at Days. I had to email Melody (Thomas Scott, Y&R) to tell her how much we LOVE her husband. Ed is such an awesome Leader. He has shaped up the show in every area… it’s still the Days you love, but it’s a tighter, more powerful way of telling stories. I think you’ll see a clear difference when his first episode airs. Everyone is so enthusiastic right now, and motivated to go above and beyond – but who wouldn’t be inspired by a man who runs everywhere? Ed seriously runs (I think Steve (Steve) mentioned his orange sneakers?) yeah, Ed runs to and from the booth all day. And by all day, I mean, literally from 6:45am until we wrap the show, sometimes 11:30 or 12pm. You hear him coming, and you know he’s going to tweak the scene, make it better, make everyone look better. Dee (Marlena) and Kristian (Hope) and I were chatting after our scenes last week about how fantastic the sets look, the lighting…we can’t wait for his stuff to start airing, because we know you’re all going to love what you see.

^LMAO Toups, poor Ali, what a crime for liking the new direction the show is taking.

Ed Scott's hiring is NBC's last resort for saving this show, Corday better let the man do his job properly...

I am still somewhat doubtful Scott will have as much power as he will need to make a noticable change, given Corday's track record. I hope for the best I guess.

That's all good and dandy but if the stories still suck whats the purpose of the scenes. Hogan is doing a much better job than JER. But there are some doozy storylines that are just blah....And yes I do watch the show and keep up with it. :P

I don't think Days can ever recover from all the viewers it's lost this year, but it would be nice to see a great surge in quality, before NBC officially cancels it.

Did it mention when the changes occur? A date...is it before or after Passions is gone?

Ed Scott started on Days in early August, so we should see his stuff by early/mid September. Most likely, Passions will already be off the NBC daytime schedule.

I believe DAYS can. It just needs a huge story that will generate a lot of buzz and publicity.

Dena Higley's DAYS was in the mid 2's and JER's SSK story got them up to 3.9 in just 5 months.

I've got to agree with Alvin....sorry Toups. The days of any soap getting that much of a jump are over. I have to come to terms with that too. Look at B&B's numbers. They are way down from last year. They are at a pathetic 2.6.

Since the storylines are written in advance, it could take about 2-3 months before wee see Ed's influence in storyline direction.

Production changes will be the first thing we notice because Ed can fix that right away.

DAYS has been getting low 2's these past couple months, so getting in the mid-to-high 2's in HHs and high 1's/low 2's in 18-49 demos will be good enough.

Yeah, but look at the state the industry is in now. Even when GH does its big stunts, it gains yes, but not that much and it's never able to maintain whatever its gained. Days is soon going to be the only soap on NBC and it already has a crappy lead-in. Added to that, the show is changing time slots in many major markets, that almost spells disaster. It's almost impossible for a show to jump from 2.1 to a 3.0, I just don't see it.

I can't wait to see the changes. I'm so excited. :)

Ali better watch out for those "crazy" ;) fans for being enthusiastic about Ed Scott.

Like they haven't already been bashing her for months already complaining about the "Sami show."
