I'm not trying to be an ass in this thread, but I have to say something.

I just get the feeling that the Nuke fan-base wouldn't mind or care at all if Nuke were to take over this show and have it all about them. You know, like how the show is all about Gwen these days. Yes, I know Luke was back-burned for a while and his original storyline ended up being about other characters. Then again, most of ATWT's cast has been back-burned and almost never shown. I really don't get the devotion paid especially to Nuke. When I watch soaps, I don't watch for a couple, I watch for an ensemble. It's hard for me to root for one couple, when the show is a complete mess overall.

Also, though I adore Van, I find Jake especially to be a wooden actor. He has chemistry with Van yes, but in his outside scenes he's quite under-whelming. I've never not been able to get over the horrible set-up to this storyline and the continuous plot holes that continue to ruin it for me. Added to this, most long time viewers probably wouldn't care much for Van or Jake, since they are relatively new faces.

Overall, the show needs to work on multi-generational storytelling and for the sake of the Nuke storyline, they must keep everything consistent!

I get what you're saying, Y&R. I know people are excited about the story, but it's like the only reason there's buzz about this is because it's about two boys. I don't think there's any chemistry between Noah and Luke, and the lousy writing extends to this story. All the buzz on ET, etc, doesn't mean crap to me. The kiss came out of absolutely nowhere, and if it were a boy/girl hook up, we'd all be rolling our eyes.

Alvin, why dont you post what you hate about the show? You never post here. When you do you just say the stories suck and they have pot holes. Tell us why they suck and have pot holes. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. I rarely see you even post on the ATWT threads and then you came and bashed the Nuke story so it took me by surprise.

I rarely post in any of the soap discussion threads anymore. CBSD has totally pissed me this past year. GL, Y&R, ATWT, and to a lesser extent B&B have all been complete messes this year. These shows are capable of so much better, yet they're hardly recognizable anymore. When I watch the entire CBS lineup, all I can do is shake my head. Look at these shows and look at what they've become. Y&R and ATWT will forever be my top two soaps, but I get more aggravation out of watching them these days, than any entertainment value.

Well as most people know I am for the whole show, so I am not just a Nuke fan, frankly I enjoyed most of the whole show today, I really thought the Dusty/Lily/Cheri scenes were nice and fresh, I also enjoyed most of the kidnapping stuff, though I am hoping it is coming to a close because that one has gone on long enough. I just really liked the feel to today's show. At this point I just live with the plot holes, because I have come to realize its never going to get better so I am just trying to enjoy what I can in my show. And for the record I would not want Nuke on every day either because they would get just as boring as Gwen gets during her five day a week stints. The most any character should be on is 3 days a week and that is all I am asking for Nuke is 3 days a week.

For me, I don't like most of what is going on with the show. I get the spoilers each week and go "damn, not again..."

Right now, the only storyline I'm remotely enjoying is the Luke/Noah story. I follow the story through YouTube edits. I wish the entire show could hold my attention, but it doesn't. I'd rather get my eyes dilated and walk outside with no sunglasses.

See I loved ATWT way before Luke and his sexuality came into the picture. So I dont necessarliy watch for him and Noah. But lately thats the only thing keeping my interest no matter how bad the story is being written. The show could be so much better if the writers only listened to their fans. It was a treat to see Lily and Dusty today. The have history and chemistry. Why dont they revist their relationship as adults? Instead we get Dusty getting involve with porn storylines. Sigh...I get tired of talking about how bad ATWT is too. But it seems no one at P&G or Chris Goutman himself care. Because if they did changes at the top would be made.

Cady returned last week but the storyline is already boring me. The return should have been done so much better. Wouldnt it have been better had she returned alive and out of her coma in Oakdale and surprised Craig. Nope..we get Meg's whining and bitching about her relationship with Craig like 5 days a week. Enough already....lets move it along.....IF things dont get better I am done with ATWT after almost 30 years. Once the Nuke storyline is over I am gone.

    • I totally agree with this, as most of you seem to. Mary Carney was at least competent and reasonably likable; I just feel like she barely had anything of substance to do before she was abruptly given the hook. And I get the backstory of Kathleen Tolan having done a play with Helen Gallagher, but...at any point did they ever actually READ her before they greenlit her? Because...OOF. First time I saw her on SoapNet was right when this GODAWFUL actress named Charity Rahmer played Belle on Days of Our Lives for all of three weeks before she was mercifully recast; her line readings were straight out of a Charlie Brown special. I remember thinking Kathleen Tolan could have played her mother! In the Frank/Jill/Delia triangle, Delia WAS the one who was cheated on, so I got why she was upset and thought it was perfectly valid in theory at least, but of course it was blown up to Wagnerian proportions including falls involving staircases and tricycles. But with Pat/Faith/Delia I had no sympathy for her...especially because it was mainly with Catherine Hicks's Faith and I really liked her.
    • I was going through those episodes from 1984 and early 1985 before they were taken down. Some of the older characters, like Don and even Tom, looked a little out of place, like they were on the wrong show. But the newer characters were fun. It's too bad they lost the character of Melissa. I guess Jennifer took her long-term place on the canvas.

    • The black and white episodes of the show are very special. An atmosphere the color run loses. Dark Shadows was filmed live-on-tape. They could do a retake but it would be very expensive. I think there was a claim that if actors wanted a retake they would curse. There was also a rumor that at one point Joan Bennett accidentally said "Hollywood" instead of "Collinwood" and that necessitated a retake.

    • It is a shame that more characters didn't go the ATWT-Barbara route and make the ingénue into an antagonist. Sort of like they did with Liza/Hogan/Sunny, less successfully. It is a credit to ATWT's creativity that breathed life in that character for years after she was fighting off bulls in Spain.  But, a character like Liza can only have so many true loves and high jinks on the high seas.  They need another reason to be in the story. Liza's wealth, as well as her acumen to see through fraud, was fertile ground for tons of stories.  But, I feel like the business stories for Liza were always about her being easily overwhelmed, rather than exploring things like her leadership and managerial skills.
    • STFU!! Dante!!! This nonsense of blaming Gio is just ridiculous! Alexis and Lucky are becoming so unlikable. Why are the writers writing these characters so poorly?
    • Keith still comes off younger to me. I thought he wasn't that bad for his first day.
    • To be fair, they were only recently step-siblings.  Their parents married within the past few years.  And, Draper's father Ansel was not coy about the fact that he married Raven's mother, Nadine, for the money. And, Raven's sort of sticking it to April that not only can she have a baby (April has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to carry a child to term), she could also have April's man, if she wanted him.
