amazing post! I agree about the rape story being dealt with so poorly.they should have never had EJ rape Sami and instead of insta-fast Lumi reunion have her sleep with EJ,then finding out he's a Dimera later and to be reunite with lucas only to learn she is pregnant.that way,I would have had no problem with an EJami pairing.I loved Sami and EJ last summer..probably the only JERk thing I kinda 'enjoyed'.

I became really sick of EJ after they made him a Dimera, stuck him in every story and he never got punished for anything, not to mention the air time.I enjoy the Ejami scenes because Ali and James work great together, but I dont want to see them as lovers.Enemies would be good for me.I cant get past the rape.

You are not alone!

There was no crime committed in that car. If EJ is guilty of anything, it's that he is a bad samaritan. He simply wanted payment for providing the help he was not required to give.

EJ didn't have to help Lucas, and Sami did not have to WILLINGLY have sex with the man. She had a choice, and if Lucas had died had she chosen SELF RESPECT first, then so beit. Sami's body was the only currency she had at the time, and she used it.

She was not raped, and we really need to stop this.

Rape victims are not given a choice... Sami had the luxury of a choice and she made yet another bad decision.

Sami is a rapist herself, so she should know that the manure coming out of her mouth is offensive... She took THE choice away from Austin the door knob. EJ did not do that to Sami because again, he was not required to help Lucas - he just asked to be paid.

Sami needs to get off that rape thing, and so does some of the audience. You can't re-define a sexual event as rape because your favorite character is the "victim"... It's offensive to anyone who was actually raped... To date, EJ is NOT a rapist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!END OF STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FINITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I will never get over my disappointment of Hogie trying to redeem that demon and make her a heroine this way. It's appauling. He's a good writer, and I expect better than this from him. Leave this vile sh!t to HackReilly, McTrash or Pigley!

Oh Andrea, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it as am I entitled to my opinion that it was rape. There will always be disagreements on this subject and we are all entitled to as many different opinions as there are posters.

Wow, the excessive use of exclamation marks and the words "end of story," "period," "finite," and "bottom line," made me realize that you're absolutely right. I can see the light! ;):)

Absolutely.

At the end of the day, I don't watch soaps for morals. I watch soaps for the stories. When you come across two characters who are entertaining together and have a unique chemistry, you can't just throw that away because the story could be tricky to tell.

There are other "villain" couples in daytime. Why are those okay but EJ/Sami aren't? Because every other crime committed is forgivable except rape?

If SON existed back when Sami drugged Austin, I wasn't aware of it. And I have many times complained about Sami never having a lightbulb moment where she realized just how awful her action toward Austin was. One of the reasons I hated the Sami/Austin "romance" was that it was a pairing of rapist and victim.

As for Bo, I don't really care about him as a character and wasn't too into the show at that point in time. But I don't think the show's treatment of that incident was okay, either.

Days is not the first show to handle rape badly. This is not the first time Days has handled rape badly. It was, however, the first time TODAY that Days handled rape badly. That was why I commented, and I don't see how past history of Days or any other soap makes my comments any less valid.

No, in fact, I didn't.

I'm a Lumi fan. I don't deny that. But while I'll tell people what I like about them (sometimes at great length), I have no interest in taking part in a full-blown, name-calling, taunting, poster-baiting, poll-fixing, mailbag-stuffing fanbase war. (But, hey, if that's what some people out there enjoy, more power to you. Variety makes the world go round, and all that.)

I get where EJami fans are coming from, at least some of them. They love James Scott; or love his chemistry with Ali Sweeney; or want a Brady/DiMera fueding families romance; or just want a new couple since many Days couples have onscreen history dating back 10-20-30 years. I don't agree with all of the various EJami fans' various reasons for liking their couple, but the original post was not intended to be some kind of attack on those who still want the couple after the rape.

Quite the contrary. If I had been an EJami fan, I'd have been furious that the rape happened at all and aggravated by the way its being handled. Because if I had been an EJami fan, I would have wanted a character-driven, nuanced story-- not one where such a hideous act was swept under the rug to facilitate a quickie romance. As a Lumi fan, I DID hate the extent to which Lucas' drugging of Sami in Italy was swept under the rug, but at least there I felt like Lucas spent a year in a coma indirectly because of the Italy mess. EJ has had perhaps half a second of regret.

My only point in making the original post was that Days has handled Sami's rape badly.

Days went out of its way to call what EJ did to Sami "rape." Sami called it rape. Lucas called it rape. Nick called it rape. Celeste called it rape. When Ali , James , and Bryan do publicity interviews for the show, they all call it rape.

Fine. If the show wants to do a story where EJ rapes Sami instead of one of the various alternatives-- and it crossed that bridge five months ago-- it shouldn't have the victim's friends/family, including her mother the psychiatrist, blowing off her who's-the-daddy pregnancy like the mildly inconvenient side effect of an affair.

One gasp from Marlena. That's all I'm asking for. She's done it over far lesser things.

I don't see what happened as rape. Sami had sex with EJ to save lucas, EJ had sex with Sami to save Stefano. What made it disgusting is that while Sami did not enjoy it apparently EJ did. That makes any possible pairing for EJami a big 'ICK' for me.

I think it's weird that I don't think it was rape and I don't want EJ and Sami as a couple yet there are people that do see it as rape have no problem with EJ and Sami becoming a couple.

As for James Scott and Alison Sweeny having chemistry, IMO, James has chemistry with everyone! I think they could pair James with just about anyone: Phillip, Kate, Hope, Maggie etc. and make it look good.

    • I'll get back to you when Jordan appears on screen. Lol!
    • Don't feel bad: most do. I know it's in the "less than" category of opinions. And lunch? What's for lunch today?

Definitely am improvement overall, hah. I want someone to call him "bastard". Ha. Maybe I should sneak into Port Charles for a second.
    • A very underrated writer/director, IMO.  Of course, not all of his films were successful or memorable, but the ones that are - "Kramer," "Places in the Heart," "Nobody's Fool," etc. - are masterpieces.
    • I tend to ignore the fact you like Tanisha Harper.  She just blends in.  When she comes on screen I literally mind drift and think what I want for lunch. Melgar's Lily at least iconically blew up!!!  And once you know she's going to explode LM is tolerable in rewatch. It's coming!!  Half the young people in town call him "Uncle Sonny" or, well, "Dad" lol.  You know Emma's going to be on that bandwagon.
    • Jennifer Brooks had insisted that life go on since all her family knew that death might be eminent for her. Brock had given them a philosophy by which to live. "God grant me the serenity to accept that which I cannot change, the courage to change that which I am able and the wisdom to know the difference." Lorie asked her father to let her give a big party for the family and friends to celebrate her parents' thirtieth wedding an-niversary. He disapproved until Lorie said this was not a reminder of how little time there was, but a celebration of the life they had had together. Jennifer was pleased and looked forward to the party.  That evening, Stuart gave Jennifer her anniversary gift before the party rather than after. It was a diamond heart pendant to symbolize the heart he gave her long ago — his own. Lance and Lorie gave them a trip to Paris as a gift. Stuart had wanted to take Jennifer away, but she wouldn't leave the girls with their problems. The party was such a success that Jennifer told Stuart that this had been the most wonderful night of her life. Jennifer slipped away in Stuart's arms that night, clutching her pendant.  Stuart called Lorie who located all her sisters and asked them to meet at their parents'. He explained that their mother felt no pain and was happy as she passed peacefully away. Peggy felt she should have been home for her mother rather than visiting a friend, but Stuart said it was sudden. Lorie blamed herself for giving the party which was probably too much. Stuart told her how much that party meant to Jennifer. Brock came by to tell them that Jennifer had him draw up instructions for her burial and wanted only her family with her. He also had a letter for Stuart. She wrote him this love letter in case she didn't have the opportunity to tell him in person how much their life together had meant to her and this is why she wanted him to remarry.  Snapper visited his mother after he learned of Jennifer's death. He felt he hadn't seen enough of her recently.  After the funeral, Peggy told her sisters that she would not be going away to school. She was the only one left to care for their father because Chris and Lorie had husbands and Leslie had a career. Stuart insisted that Peggy finish packing and catch her plane to school as planned.  Chris was worried about her father after Snapper told her to keep an eye on him because grieving husbands could become ill as they didn't remember to eat. She called to insist that she was coming over to fix his dinner and found that Liz was there. Liz asked him for an extra key so that she could do the laundry and cleaning to repay him for earlier kindnesses.
    • I would assume "friends of Ripa" would come into play.

    • I'm aware of that but I was more curious about which characters were going to be included and what actors they were loooking at.
    • Harper > Melgar (yes, I said it) I happen to be in the lonely camp of actually liking Harper as Jordan, although I still believe Jordan, as a character, could easily be eliminated from the canvas, and I would be A-OK with it. Honestly, the character of Jordan went from interesting to expendable the moment she was taken out of the Jerome circle and made a law enforcement agent. I'm not age-shaming Finola Hughes either. It simply comes down to the characters at this point. To go from interacting with David Hayward and Edmund on AMC to Jason and Sonny on GH... is an actual choice. Hell, I'd even add Valentin to that list.

    • Much like I always say Tanisha Harper is very pretty, so was Lilly Melgar.  Very pretty lol. She wore very cute slip dresses that young carolineg adored lol.  She's probably not even a bad actress. Lily (the character) had 0 charisma and when you are working with 90's Mo and Vanessa, and, uh...Ricky Martin you need some spark.  People can have friends of all ages and I am not age shaming Anna or Finola, but Jason/Sonny are your daughter's friends.  My mother isn't friends with my friends or at least doesn't actively hang out with them lol. Yeah, I don't really care if Emma has scenes with Sonny.  I am just waiting for her to bust out the "Uncle Sonny" nickname.
    • Oh see, I remember now. Thank you; I do recall those scenes standing out in my head! Plus, the all-too-underutilised Chaunteé Schuler as Bonnie. That was a surprising, yet good, recast.
