I haven't gotten to that point yet to truly say, but I do think that the magic was gone after that. I think they should have always had them chasing after each other and getting on each others nerves. They should have never consummated their relationship.

I think Moonlighting was too cute and self-aware to ever run for more than a few years. I think they should have just set up a timeline and stayed with that, as they could have gone out on a high, since the last few years were ratings falls, and I don't even know if the actors were in a lot of the later episodes.
