As we all know by now, Global is cancelling Passions in September. It has no plans to continue to air the show when it moves to DirecTV.

This means we have to help our soap find a new Canadian network!!

Go to http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/ and click the drop-down menu and select Passions. Please email NBC and demand that they find a new Canadian broadcaster for Passions. Make it clear that we are a hugely loyal, dedicated fanbase, and Passions will lose us if we can no longer watch our show.

Please do what you can to support Passions! We don't want to miss it when it continues on DirecTV...remember, DirecTV isn't offered in Canada, so if Passions is not sold to another Canadian network, we will have to resort to torrents and stealing satellite signals to see our show.

Please email NBC now!! http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/

the NBC television network will not be able to help you get a new canadian distributor for the show. The broadcast network doesn't share in the revenus of foreign broadcasts. The owners and production company do. And NBC Universal and NBC TV are not the same. And they're not going to force someone in Canada to broadcast the show.

If you are wanting Passions to air in Canada, you will need to focus on potential Canadian distributors. Like CTV. Or Chum Television. Or some cable outlet. You need to get someone up here interested enough to pick up the show.

CTV originally had it, but traded it with Global for General Hospital. I wouldn't think they'd be interested in it again. It doesn't seem to fit with their daytime B&B and GH block.

I would think your best bet would be Chum, paired with AMC and OLTL on the NewNet/A Channel local stations.

Glabal seems the best bet. If they don't pick it up, it's done in Canada.

I don't see CHUM taking it, especially soon when it will be owned by CTVglobemedia which runs CTV. CTV did air it after AW went off but traded it with Global for GH since Global had a monopoloy on daytime in Canada. At one point Global aired Y&R, DOOL and GH; after the CTV deal in exchange for PSNS, they were able to pick up ATWT and GL for its second channel, CH but ATWT moved to Global immediately after it won the 2001 emmy.

Anyway, Showcase doesn't really have the budget, even for PSNS. Also, Showcase is a specialty channel so the ratings will be significantly lower that Global.

Despite Muchmusic going all MTV-like since my junior high days, I seriously doubt it'll ever pick up Passions. I think Global would be the show's best bet. But considering that it's airing three other soaps (Days, ATWT, and Y&R), I don't think they'll feel a great if they dump Passions for good.

Haha...yeah, I suppose it is. I don't necessarily want Passions done in Canada but I can't say I care one way or the other. I was thinking that maybe CH could pick the show up since they already air GL (and Y&R in some cities) but someone just said they're going to be owned by CTV now?

    • Yes, but the stories are all pretty awful Seeing Victor rehashing his hatred of the Abbotts  when he married one of them and has a daughter that is half Abbott as well as walking around with Traci's daughter's heart keeping him alive makes him look worse than he already is. And I remember he and Jack chatting amicably in the past few years. Victor interfering in Kyle/Claire is just repeat of Billy/Victoria. Sharon, Nick,Phyllis etc are around but again the stories are lacking.
    • I think Kevin's 1996 Emmy was fair enough. He barely appeared for his second. I don't think anyone else on the list is that deserving but I might have gone with Moore as he did try with the whole Keesha AIDS story. @alwaysAMC Thanks to slick jones' cast list I was able to see that Nikki Rene played Tina. Not much on her, as you mentioned. Tap and a few Broadway listings (it doesn't help that a younger actress with a similar name is in a lot of roles). • Thank you. That does ring a bell. I remember Theresa and Julian's drunk, giggly fake wedding (with Julian asking "Whassup?" to the minister). Was Bruce tricking the pair as a prank, or did somebody put him up to it? I especially liked Katherine recalling how dashing young Alistair was when he'd pick up Rachel for dates, and how she wished she could be her sister, then feeling guilty once Rachel had her boating accident ...
    • And Kevin Mambo beat Shemar Moore for those two Emmys. I chalk up the wins to the voters not wanting Jonathan Jackson to eventually end up with a five peat (he won 1995, 1998, 1999). These were the 1996 and 1997 Younger Actor races. 1996: Nathan Fillion, Jonathan Jackson, Kevin Mambo (winner), Shemar Moore, Joshua Morrow 1997: Steve Burton, Jonathan Jackson, Kevin Mambo (winner), Shemar Moore, Joshua Morrow

    • Today's episode was excellent. Clearly it was confrontation day and they didn't disappoint. I'm glad they didn't forget Mona in all of this and gave us an opportunity to see how she's dealing with this. A major highlight for me were the Kat and Martin scenes. Their chemistry is off the charts and I don't understand why we haven't gotten more of this. I love how they take turns calming each other down. They feel really well matched and believable as siblings. Speaking of siblings, they anvils were dropping strong that Kat and Eva are twins but I do wish someone would mention that they are essentially hood twins which might throw people off the scent.  I'm one of the people who enjoyed Joey and the gambling storyline so it was nice to see him again. It was nice to see different characters like Mona and Eva in that element instead of the usual players. When Doug arrived I don't know what hit me but I just see a funeral in his future. He seems so hopeless and has the worst luck. I just can't see him surviving the year at this rate.
    • In fiction there has become an expectation by some that every Black character should represent excellence and perfection. It's not like we are talking about a Tyler Perry show where none of the characters are happy and everyone hates each other with a passion.
    • And on rewatch, I could've done without the unsubtle praising Matt like he was the only one who ever accepted Van as she was...but TPTB and their agendas.  It was totally in character for Vanessa to shut down emotionally until she was alone. While she could be volatile, both she and Henry believed in keeping emotions private.  Thank God it's still Bryan Buffinton in the role for both Henry's and HB's funerals. It just wouldn't have been the same with Ryan Brown, who couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. Roll My Eyes.
