Nothing was shown on the show until tonight when Marilyn told Jack that Audrey had been killed in an auto accident. Jack got the file and then we saw pictures of the accident and the draped body. It was supposed to have happened in China where Audrey was trying to locate Jack so she could get him home again. It was a shock but we know that it is still possible that the pictures weren't of her. The DNA was said to have matched, though. Guess we wait and see.

Tonight's show was really good. I can hardly wait for the VP to get his comeuppance. Logan's fate wasn't on tonight.

Tonight's show was the best so far, I think. We got to learn some truths and see WWIII averted and a bad guy caught and meet a simple, sweet fellow and his brother who were charming, if you can say that about characters mixed up in a plot to help a foreign country. Nadia is not the mole.....yea. Thankfully she was given reprieve but doesn't seem very happy about having been accused at all. Wayne Palmer is back as Pres....just in the nick of time.

I loved how Gredinko lived out his final hour. He did it his way and tried to make his life mean something. So why on earth is Wayne releasing that missile? Has he lost his mind? So glad to see Karen and Tom mend fences and join forces. Next week will be a whole new game. Jeepers. It's hard to be left wanting more.

To who asked about Audrey. The picture showing her dead body partially covered with a tarp caused Jack to have a look of doubt on his face. I've read that Audrey wore her watch on her right arm, not her left arm as in that picture. Most likely, we will hear more about this along the way. Also, dna proof without the body only proves that she was where they could get a dna sample, not that they got it from a dead body.

I don't like Wayne as President. He's too young and he doesn't a have a presence. And what was up with the ending? I was like, "What??" in a bad way. And we already went through this 25th Ammendment thing a couple seasons ago.

Did we ever find out about what happened to President Logan? Last time I remember seeing him was in the ambulance.

Also, there hasn't been enough Jack in the past couple of episodes.

We were left up in the air about Logan. I've been listening for mention of his injury and whether he made it or not but nothing yet.

Everyone is complaining about there not being enough Jack. I do believe that is why all the Mike hate. Fearful that he may be Jack the second in the stories. I actually don't mind him and think he is worth wondering about.

I really agree about the 25th amendment thing. It was redundant and even though it's been several season's back it was also his brother that it was used on. Not good and I wonder why, because there has to be another reason (LOL or wishful thinking).

What a solid show tonight with loads of twists. I hope the Mike haters will not be as mean on him after tonight's show. I rather liked him all along. DB Woodside has brought Wayne Palmer to a new level and I'm just thrilled to pieces with him. He's probably going to expire before the end of the show though. He's pushing too hard and is only flesh and blood after all. The previews show him asking the VP to resign. I hope that happens, but I don't know who the Speaker of the House is who would be next in line. Thankfully it's not Logan and we still haven't learned what happened to him. Also, the previews show Audrey on next week and that was totally unexpected to me as even the spoilers didn't say she'd be back on screen until the end of the series.

I'm watching the rerun of Season 4 on A&E channel and Logan has just assumed the presidency. He is such a weasel. It was really hard to see him as having enough guts to be the bad guy he portrayed in Season 5.

Now that is a big twist...24 actually wrapped up a storyline before the finale and gave us a huge twist with Audrey being alive...I was sure she would be, but i was thinking we'd have to wait till next season for Jack to rescue her...I was worried something would go wrong and Jack would spend the rest of the season trying to find the nukes...But i was totally shocked with the phone call from Audrey..Great twist 24, i'm hooked again...

Great episode! The writers totally fooled me with President's bluff. LOL

The scene where he kills like 10 guys and then kills Fayed by hanging him - awesome! Jack was back last night!!

And now Jack has to go save Audrey from the Chinese! Nice twist.

Wow, about the time I was beginning to think this season was going to fizzle, tonight's show brought it back into high gear. Loads of twists and action. Lots of questions, too. Is Doyle worthwhile or is he fill? What is Milo up to? Is Palmer down for real this time? What will the VP do now to put the country in danger? Will his apparent affair with his assistant and their lies be revealed and to what advantage. Hopefully Wayne does recover enough to get the VP out of office. I can hardly wait until next week.

Tonight was another great action packed episode. Unfortunately, I doubt that many tuned in due to the return of Heroes and the falling numbers watching 24 this season.

Mike is really growing on me now. All the turmoil in the political circle at the White House and the pressure vise put on Karen to fire Bill was nerve-wracking. What will happen with them (Karen and Bill). Who will be the new director of CTU? What a mess Audrey is. Even in the previews she still isn't very much with reality. What on earth has she had to endure at the hands of the Chinese? What is going on between Milo and Morris?

I'm looking forward to next week for sure.

Another fantastic episode of 24. Tonight's show was about seeing into characters and learning who they really are and how they got that way. Daniels whom I've hated actually made me realize that he is a decent man with honorable convictions, Mike Doyle solidified his belief in Bauer, Audrey showed enough to let us know she can return to the real world, we learned how the spy obtained and passed along his information to the Russians and we watched Nadia face her challenge as leader of CTU with vulnerability and growing strength. This weeks TV Guide has an article with Kiefer Sutherland who says that this season is more about setting up the ducks for next season. After tonight you can tell that it is transition from Tony and Jack to Mike and Jack, from President Palmer to another president, and new leadership at CTU. Only three episodes and what a trail of exitement blazing to the finale.

Good insight into this episode Jean, I too didn't care very much for the VP, but last night he has won me over (sort of). I would like to see Mike return next season but we still need more Jack. Good to see Hiller but didn't like his attitude toward Jack but I can understand it. I can't begin to guess how this season will end.

I'm so ready for tonight. Someone Jack believes is dead is supposed to show up, but I'm not certain that spoiler meant Audrey. There are some spoilers that I think I'll browse around and see what I can learn B)

OK, I learned about tonight but won't give it away. PM me if you'd like to know, but it will be on in a few short hours and worth the wait.

I haven't learned yet who the person returning from the dead is. I'm hoping it's Chris Henderson instead of Tony. We have Doyle and Tony would be a second sidekick. Doesn't work. Chris Henderson knows about the Baur family connection to the terror in Season 5 and can tie up loose ends.

    • As always, really interesting to get your impressions! I was only watching sporadically during this period (whereas I was transfixed during the Marian storyline), but if I remember correctly 1996 was a pretty rough transitional year. It came at a period where P&G was playing musical chairs with its executive producers--ATWT was hit especially hard by this. The current executive producer, Michael Laibson, is out in November 1996, replaced by Paul Rauch, who stays for nearly 6 years. While Rauch has a few really bad ideas that cause long-term damage to the show, those don't really kick in until 1999, and his first couple of years are very strong. So once you get to 1997, you should see the show rebound significantly.

    • I’m up to April 01, 1996. I think I’m starting to understand what many have said.. things are different. I miss the community vibe of Springfield, when you had people working at the hectic newspaper, the choatic diner, the rich were coming in for coffee, or the TV network was abuzz about the latest scandal. Things have become a little more tunneled into their own storylines. Right now, for me anyway, there isn’t a strong desire to see what happens next, ever since the Brent/Marian story ended. It was a darker, more suspenseful storyline that really got me intrigued and waiting to see what happens next, while everything else was just a nice view of midwestern families living their dramatic lives. And I love that too, when the characters and storytelling is strong, but right now, some things are a little stale. In these last 5 weeks, we had two bigger events: Nick and Susan’s wedding:  it was sweet, but I really found it weird they played music over their vows instead of being able to hear them. Then, they leave town immediately after and for good? We really didn’t get a ton of time with them - one minute Susan is in a hospital bed, post-coma, celebrating the new year, and now she’s married and gone. I’m having a hard time with the revolving door of characters since my early ’95 watch. This year we’ve lost so many characters, gained so many characters, and to what end? Henry’s funeral:  this was so sad, considering the real actor passed. I’m curious what other fans thought about the funeral. Granted, when an actor passes, you don’t have much time to plan ahead, so you need to insert it into whatever storylines are happening at the time.  But sadly, this funeral happened when everyone was hating each other. Vanessa was upset with Matt because the Amanda secret came out and he kept it from her. Quint showed up, with his very young affair no less, which made both Nola and J upset. Amanda was there which upset both Blake and Ross. Roger insisted he give a speech which upset everyone. Vanessa was mad at Quint for bringing his young girlfriend, and then Dinah was so upset about her grandfather, which was emotional, but everyone is currently at odds with Dinah. The flashbacks were effective, and the most emotional scene was Vanessa’s breakdown when reading Henry’s letter to her.  Otherwise, it was a pretty hateful funeral, which felt icky. Otherwise, my quick pros and cons currently happening… Pros: Alex and Hawk are great and funny. He gets under her skin and it’s hilarious to watch her react, but she needs him. They were in LA trying to get dirt on Amanda’s former life and Hawk was living it up with young gorgeous women and all the spending money at his disposal.  Generally, the Amanda and her secret storyline is interesting and I really like the actress. Alex vs. Amanda is entertaining. Tina came onto the scene around the time Nadine died, but she’s been given a backstory which is interesting to me now. She’s a prostitute, who means well, and is trying to take care of her daughter, Dahlia. She grew up with Frank, who has a soft spot for her. Marcus, in a new storyline he desperately needed away from Dinah and his dad, has taken a strong liking to Dahlia. She sings well and he plays saxophone well, so their music is endearing. Sadly, Tina got involved in a robbery gone-bad, where they held up a Spaulding board of directors meeting. She flees, but Frank catches her outside and is forced to arrest her, while Cleary (she’s back!) arrests the main bad guy involved and saves the Spaulding family. I’m curious to see where this one goes, but curious, was Tina actually on the show before this or is she a brand new character? Cons: The Dinah/Hart/Roger storyline is pretty stale now. I need something new. Lucy and Alan-Michael are barely on since Brent left, which is sad. You spend an entire year on a storyline that builds their relationship, brings strife and wedges, and now that they’re finally able to be together in love with no obstacles, you never show them? I want to see them happy! Oh and Lucy and Bridget/David haven't had a scene since Marian tried to get 'a room at the boarding house, which is weird because we haven't seen Bridget react to Lucy being alive. I don't even know if Lucy even lives at the boarding house or with AM, but it's sad pretending like Lucy/Bridget/David were never close friends. Reva/Josh, which is hogging airtime, is a serious whiplash. One week Josh loves her, she hates him; the next week, she loves him, he hates her. He’s always lying to Annie, but now he’s marrying her again, the second wedding in 4 months. I’m also very tired of Marah, her angst over everything, and their overwhelming concern over her. As much as I don’t like Buzz, it is funny watching Reva work at the diner, but I’ll never side with Alan so watching him have feelings about Reva/Buzz or Reva/Josh does nothing for me. Finally, the other small B storylines are only on like once a week which isn’t enough:  Gilly/Griffin/Viviane, Michelle/J, Blake/Ross/Rick, Rick/Abby, Holly/Fletcher and the baby. Something that just popped up out of the blue is David Grant leaving Springfield out of nowhere. He professed his love to Bridget, who turned him down, so he decides to leave when Griffin gives him a job opportunity. Sadly, another character written out for many new characters being introduced. Makes me wonder who is making these calls - the producers, the network, the writers, the fans?
    • OH. The AMC/OLTL Crossover with helicopter, down in the woods, 2 very pregnant, both give birth, only one baby lives. We are on the same page!!!
    • Backtracking because BTG has been distracting me from keeping up with GH. Why is Carly always involved with a paternity lie? Lulu is Dante's (wife? if Im correct) so she has the right to tell him about his son. If anything, she's in a better place to reveal paternity drama than Robin was. As for Robin...I'm conflicted about whether it was HER place to tell AJ he was Michael's dad. Being with a man who's pretending to be someone else's baby daddy is wild. Dante was snoring blaming everyone  but Rocco, however he was right about Jason. A convo isn't enough, neither is trying to be your son's friend. Adolescents need a disciplinarian. At least Lulu made Rocco and Danny scrub the house.

    • I saw a new BTG promo during Watson tonight (Sunday May 11).   I don't remember what I saw (and I wouldn't say here on the nonspoiler thread anyhow). I know only that it was different from the "next on BTG" preview at the end of Friday's episode. If anyone catches the new promo, please post it on the spoiler thread.
