^^A very insulting and inappropriate post was posted...the mods deleted it.

I agree Jim was great in that movie.

Wasn't the biggest Oscar snub when Gandhi won over Star Wars?

Denzel Washington in The Hurricane. He was FAR better than Russell Crowe, so I do not know how Russell won that year.

Denzel never lost an Oscar nod to Russell (it was the other way around). For The Hurricane, Denzel lost out to Kevin Spacey for American Beauty. But I still agree with you. Denzel deserved that Oscar that year!!

Whoops. I did feel like Denzel's win for Training Day was to make up for the huge mistake in Kevin Spacey's win.

Same goes for "Frida". At least Selma Hayek got a nod, but the movie itself got nothing which is a pure shame.

I found Frida to be tedious. And Salma was way too self aware in that movie.

What did the troll post say?

No Selma just WAS FRIDA KAHLO.

I loved the camera work, the whole art-house feel, the gripping real-life story - incredible movie, IMO.

I agree. And Hayek deserved her Best Actress nomination, no questions asked!

She didn't deserve to win, but she deserved to be nominated!

I think it would be cool if Sandra Bullock at least got nominated as a best actress. She could win in the supporting actress category just like Renee Zellweger did in Cold Mountain. I always admired Sandra because she is so down to earth and not as loud or annoying as Julia Roberts. And you don't see Sandra's personal life plastered all over the tabloids like Brad & Angelina or Reese & Ryan. JMO ;)

EDIT:

Look here everybody! There's still hope for next year. :)

IA, I love Sandra Bullock. She seems so normal to me.

I'm not sure about Jim Carey. I don't think he was bad in The Truman Show, but something in his personality just turns me off of him.

I also think Natalie Portman should at least get another nomination or get a win. I like her because she doesn't seem so focused on making movies, but at the same time I wish she'd make more.

I like Bullock. But I adore Julia Roberts. She was excellent in " Erin Brockovich" from her mannerisms down to her facial expressions. She is brilliant. IA at time she could be loud, but it's not overacting, because she projects emotion behind her voice.

Denzel Washington should have won for Malcolm X. As much as I love Al Pacino...NO! Not for Scent of a Woman.

Denzel Washington should have won again for The Hurricane. Russell Crowe is the worst actor in Hollywood.
