Nothing better than college football in the SOUTH!

Since I am now a student of the University of Tennessee(finally) the game today was one of the best I have ever witnessed. Just imagine 106,000 drunk ass fans going wild with a 35-0 lead over #9 Cal in the 3rd quarter. UT is ranked 23rd and rolled over Cal 35-18, the Pac 10 is so overrated! I know hockey is king in Canada, but just try coming down south for a football game with way more fans. The SEC is showing its power early so far.

Hopefully Arkansas gives USC(a team I have to give credit to, only good team in the Pac-10) a battle tonight. Go Hogs!

Oh and a fact not anyone knows, is that UT womens college basketball averages more than 16,000, more than a few NHL teams, NBA teams, and MLB teams. When ranked teams come to UT, UT women usually gets 20,000+(with a capacity of 25,000). Just thought I would share....I know I am rambling

Oh yes I knew this - I'm from the place that Jackie Stiles called home once...so women's bball is very familiar to me. Pat Sumter (sp?) coaches at UT, which always has a dominant team each year. UT vs. UConn - that's like the most famous women's college basketball rivalries ever.

Well, at least we did better against USC this year as opposed to last year. We got creamed this time, but we were drowning in it last year.

If our season is as shitty this year as it was last, I want Head Coach Houston Nutt's head on a silver platter with cheese and crackers.

The town was a madhouse yesterday.

I was shocked when I saw USC put up 50 on Arkansas, I thought the Hogs would give them a better game this year. Its never easy to win at Arkansas, so USC putting 50 at Arkansas was impressive. Yeah Nutt needs to be fired if the Hogs dont go to a bowl game this year.

I am a huge womens college basketball fan, so I knew of Jackie Stiles. Was it Southwest Missouri State? Pat Summitt could run for governor and win here. Yeah I hate UCONN, I [!@#$%^&*] hated Diani Taurasi and still cant stand Geno Auriemma.

LMAO - yeah I'm not a big Geno fan...I love love love Pat though - she's awesome in her interviews.

Yeah - Jackie was part of SMS - which is now Missouri State. I was fortunate enough to go to most of her home games during her 4 years there - as women's bball is HUGE in Missouri and the surrouding area. Jackie had to be the best bball player of all-time...

Hell yeah to Colorado losing this weekend - just had to throw that out there.

    • The AMC hate came from Jamey Giddens/DC and their industry friends, IMO. For whatever reason I always felt they targeted the show, and it was wrong. AMC ratings were decent and even went up under Pratt (Yet, he was fired). The ratings were also good under Broderick and lowered out after her interim.  There was no reason to be upset with the show other than it being slow. They literally played it safe and did the best they could in 2010 and 2011.
    • I have very detailed synopses of all 1976 storylines for the soaps from the Daytime Serial Newsletter. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular show and I will post it in the appropriate thread. As I stated they are very detailed, so I don't want to clutter up threads if posters are not interested.

    • Surely we (and Billy Flynn) are not going to be saddled with a character named Aristotle Dumas? This isn't 1970's Edge of Night.
    • What annoys me a little bit about the "day players" is they sound a bit too "Brooklyn-ish" sometimes.  Obviously, the show was taped in New York City, and the actors are all New York actors, but Monticello is supposed to be located in Illinois or Ohio.  Occasionally, they grab actors and actresses for small roles who have VERY distinct New York accents, which contrasts sharply with the main cast, none of whom have noticeable accents (except for our dashing European gigolo, Eliot Dorn, of course).  The heavy Brooklyn accent works fine if the character is a bookie, or the owner of a pawn shop, or a guy who's selling stolen guns on the street corner.  But when it's a steadily recurring character -- such as the first Mrs. Goodman, who worked for Miles and Nicole -- it's pretty jarring to me sometimes.  And you'll see it often -- such as an "under-five" character who witnesses a car accident, or a character who witnesses a shooting, or the occasional desk clerk, or waiter.

    • That's always been my thought. I can't imagine that the show would play up the unseen AD so far in advance without them casting a *star*. After today's episode, I wonder if he'll somehow be connected with Diane. It was strange that Diane mentioned her very distant family today. I can't recall Diane ever talking about her backstory. Maybe he's her much younger brother?  It's also possible he's connected to Diane during her time in LA. Sally's already said she crossed paths with him. OC, I think Dumas is Mariah's mistake.... As a side note, it was good to see some mixing it up - Adam with Clare/Kyle and Sharon with Tessa.
