Very NBC. The woman at :28 is striking. If only in the United States of America we could get a serial this colorful and blended. I want to see this show!
  6. Yes, it was always in color, the b&w footage is Kinescope. The earlier mentioned 1968 episode in Paley's collection is color original.
  7. He was a lead in the 13 Bourbon St. pilot which led to his daytime career.
  8. Funny because the 1968 episode at Paley is about how Meredith has gone missing from the hospital and we don't see her at all in the episode, just Gillian-Viki and Victor fretting over her disappearance. I wonder if anything still exists of Viki and Meredith's original relationship.
  9. What a coincidence that saynotoursoap posted those clips! thanks, that really explains the Edith/Penny back story for me. Edith sounds like an interesting character, and the kind of woman IP felt strongly about. Still wrapping my head around what it must have been like for World fans watching the new relationship of Phoebe and Amy.

  16. Asa & Alex and their his and hers Porsches. Marilyn Chris added something very special. Her mannerisms and delivery are very Off-Broadway actor groomed in the sixties. She seems like someone Lemay would have loved to write for.
  17. 4:20 in clip one, was Bob Woods too preoccupied with whatever was in his eye to take Tonja's coat or was that a *choice*? 7:49-8:46 clip two, that was just so... lovely. So *Viki*. Just a very classy moment. This whole episode has such an elegance about it, the show did in general. I love the music throughout, from the carols to the primetime sax. Great memories, and now that the show is leaving us, I will watch this every Christmas.
  18. Doesn't that silhouette in the beginning look like the cover of one of those novelized soap opera books they made in the eighties?
  19. Yeah, would have been nice if she turned up as Ionia. Last time I saw her in daytime, she was playing a judge on AW and her hair was cut short kind of like how Robin had cut hers short at the time. I *may* have that somewhere on tape.
  20. What fun that catfight is! I'm guessing it truly was GEN's brightest moment. And it is kinda sad to read that second piece. I wish I would have watched when BET re-aired it, I guess 1990 was still a time when we wouldn't automatically at the notion of a network soap going syndicated.
  21. Very interesting reading EP's valid point about Dorian becoming *hers*. Some very important character developments happened during her tenure that became significant, lasting parts of who Dorian became with Robin Part Deux. Linda Gottlieb mentioned in an interview that MB had a scar on his face and I swear I never noticed it until that picture. He looks like Jay from Jay and Silent Bob.
  22. That's the late Rosanna Carter who was Esther Rolle's sister. I don't know if you ever saw the movie She-Devil, but she played the judge who put Ed Begley, Jr.'s character away. I had totally forgotten she had played this part yet always remembered an older female relative calling them Henry and Randall James. She is struggling a little with these lines bless her heart.
  23. I spoke about her earlier in his thread perhaps a little unflatteringly (?), but I think I was just unnerved as she was one of the first recasts I experienced. What I remember most was her voice. She had a rich, warm, milky/buttery sound, and she spoke kind of low and slow. Very feline.
