  1. I'm not familiar with OWN's programming, but admittedly, I thought it was too bad that TOWS was no longer on the air when I thought of the inevitable family interview after Whitney passed. So I guess she'll get it anyway, just on cable. But damn, was NOT expecting it this soon. I can't help but wonder how this went down. I mean, I doubt she hugged Cissy at the funeral and whispered, "Hey, if you ever wanna talk..." but even having one of her people make that call, yikes, it would have to be approached so delicately... even given their past relationship.
  2. I don't know the girl personally, but from what I saw of her when she last appeared on O, she struck me as a child who was not as grown as she perhaps fancied herself. She may have matured in the short years since, but still, I see very much a child regardless of her chronological age who will be expected to give an adult interview that I don't think she's ready for. But I guess we'll see...
  3. Dang, now I really gotta get OWN'd. I don't think BK is ready for this though. At least a year. I'm glad we'll also hear from Gury and Pat. Would love to hear from Cissy and I think O is the right choice for giving her a sensitive, properly respectful interview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8GyNKVAXWQ
  4. You know, it's funny, the whole TV movie comparison, because for all of these years I've been chasing those great Lord of the Banner and DID "TV movies" hoping I'd see the likes of them again. Yeah, I got that, but that paragraph just landed like an anvil. It sounded kind of nasty, and not unintentionally. And I love Connie/Marlena.
  5. Wow, I kind of tuned out when she called her a straight up failure. I freaking loved what LG did for the show, she's the reason why I hung in there for damn near twenty more years. Geesh...
  6. I had forgotten how much we used to rock the Preacher's Wife soundtrack in the car. I've never actually seen the movie. I do remember seeing a bts show and Whitney and the choir started getting happy for real while singing a selection and you see director Penny Marshall scrambling telling the cameramen to keep filming.
  7. Julie Parrish left three years in. Not sure if she was related to Dawn Parrish who played Ronnie. I never watched 90210 but she was on there as Joan Diamond if you remember who that is.
  8. That's Maggie, Trey's secretary, who Myrna used to drive to distraction whenever she swung by the Capitol. I'm not sure about the timeline for Leslie. We Love Soaps should do a multi-part interview with Conboy as the thirtieth anniversary is coming up.
  9. Have you ever seen that video with Cissy looking on adoringly?? It's heartbreaking now! And yes, I had been drinking.
  10. Thanks for sharing this! LOL at "pretty-ass melodies". The other nigjt I watched the The Greatest Love of All video and broke down crying.
  11. Was Conboy EP at the time? Did he fire Shirley to bring on Marj? I'm pretty sure he was responsible for Janis, who'd also been on Capitol, as Minx. How did Dame Judith leave the show and how long was she off before they brought on Janis?
  12. 1984. I'd like to read this article. There's also one by our Connie/Marlena re: cancellation. http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/washingtonpost_historical/access/170904742.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS&type=historic&date=May+7%2C+1984&author=By+Ann+L.+Trebbe&pub=The+Washington+Post++%281974-Current+file%29&edition=&startpage=C1&desc=%27Capitol%27+Wedding%27s+Not-so-Secret+Storm
  13. She didn't retire so much as she was replaced with JBW who had a "fresher" eye.
  14. When I met Marj, she told me that she didn't go to Washington at all when they shot this, she did all of her scenes in the studio as seen here. John Conboy was upset because it rained! I don't blame him! Myrna: ...the third.
  15. Loved that Joan article, thanks Carl! Geesh, I'd almost forgotten that b&w headshots were the norm for soooooo many years. I've seen that AMC logo with the cartoon babies somewhere else before, can't remember where.
  16. Michael Nader was mentioned, hoping to recapture that Lex-Dex thang.

I would love to but unfortunately I don't get OWN. Some of the brief segments I've seen looked better than 2O/2O or Dateline.
  18. That said, Stratton and LaMura did resemble one another and having no Mark around was a real lost opportunity. Those Kane stories sort of danced around one another, Eric wasn't there for Goldie and Silver either. A lot of lost opportunities for the family of the show's most famous character. I would have preferred all of that family drama over Erica and her daughters and... gulp, son.
  19. That certainly was not the "early" eighties. I also thought Eric looked too young and still dashing for Mona which made me fill in my own blanks about the nature of their original relationship. I think it also would have helped if Albert still had his dark hair to really sell the Erica connection like swarthy Gerald Davis did for Rachel.

Well she shouldn't be. I think it's pitiful when a woman of her age and accomplishments starts swimming as fast as she can to wipe up what she determines is a potentially offensive remark to some celeb or network higher up, while she has no problem being rude and condescending to some of her guests. She really grinds my gears sometimes.

I love Meredith. And Lisa Ling was too good for this show. I agree that Star handled herself well and it was Barbara and Joy who made things awkward. Sherri looked like she wanted to crawl out of her skin, and it looked like Elizabeth was getting tired of Barbara and Joy's line of questioning. I never had any reason to dislike Barbara. Same goes for Rosie and Whoopi. The View changed all that. This show is a "warts and all" type show, not unlike Robin's Hotline. It reveals otherwise unknown aspects of these folks' personalities which in my case changed my opinions of these ladies. And I don't think that's such a bad thing. Refreshing, actually. If more stans out there saw their idols in situations like this one, perhaps they could embrace their humanity and not seem like a bunch of idiots who are ready to draw blood when someone says a disparaging word aginst Beyonce or whoever.
