This is true, she certainly did not help her own image and maybe she really was an insufferable bitch which explains Joy's change in attitude towards her. But I still think Barbara goes out of her way to look as innocent as possible in any given situation. She goes out of her way to do damage control on the smallest of things. In her book, Barbara did admit to having an affair with a married, black politician back in the day. Starr made a comment about it being sad that a person of BW's achievements would risk hurting the man's wife and family just to sell books.

Yeah, they had a big send-off episode planned for like a week, maybe even days, later. They were going to announce her departure on her final episode, which is kind of some bull to begin with. Starr says she was sick of being asked about the rumors, paparazzi were outside of her building and everything, and from the stuff that was being reported, she knew that there had to be a leak at ABC... sooo, she took the situation into her own hands and went all Dynasty with it and made that surprise dramatic on-air announcement. If you watch the cIip, you can hear Joy's fake ass say, "Wow, this is a shock" and Starr shoots her a quick look like, "Girl, now you know you need to stop..." I think she fully expected to stay on until her final show as planned, but the cat would just be out of the bag, like a mere week earlier. No big deal to me. They were just mad because she Beverlee McKinsey'd their asses and beat them at their own game. Them saying that they were trying to protect Starr by allowing her to say whatever she wanted about her firing was some MORE bullsh!t. They were protecting themselves. They didn't want to look like the villains who fired the {formerly} big black girl, regardless of her Q rating.

Yeah, they showed the pic on The Talk today. I hope the person who sold it to The Enquirer gets revealed.

What always got me was that when she was first in the wreck, her face did not look mangled at ALL. there was like minimal blood streaked down her face. I know they said they'd never show her scar because it could never live up to the audience's expectations of horror. Do you remember when her masque fell off, "Oh! My mask!", . Adam said she was butchered, her great beauty ruined, lost forever...

Starr was just on. The way Joy acts so testy passive-aggressive around her is so annoying, is that just her schtick? After all of these years and the HLN interview, you'd think she'd be over that by now. I don't think Whoopi said one word.

That looks like some looky-loo recorded that on their phone and couldn't wait to sell it once she passed. I won't be surprised if security footage of her last trips to the drug and grocery stores starts popping up. I read that Whitney was named after Whitney Blake from Hazel, Meredith Baxter Birney's mother, but I just read that she was named after a character on a sixties soap opera. Only Whitney I can think of is Raven Whitney and she came much later. Carl, anyone, any ideas? Geraldine Whitney Saxon?

BTW, the person putting up the clips about season previews makes me feel like they're sitting on a bunch of episodes and they've got this site somewhere out there where they're showing them but I can't find it because it's in Italian or whatever

I think Myrna's turbans were somewhat born out of necessity as Carolyn's hair was very thin from cancer treatments. She was also a natural blonde, btw. She never wore her real hair on the show, always a wig in varying shades of red/auburn. The turbans were a break from the wigs and you notice how high her forehead is when she's wearing them. LOL at "Who farted?" face!

Thank you for sharing these! Bill Beyers seems like he was a kind soul. I would love to see more of Lola Falana on the show, I think I've only seen her in a bit of one episode. The last time I saw her was on Geraldo when she surprised Richard pryor with a bouquet of encouragement as a fellow MS patient.

Yeah, she didn't have the stuff for Sloane. She was definitely a Julie-type. Julie was more McCandless than Clegg, or Denning for that matter.

I sure would love to see some of those episodes. I'd never seen that shot of Marla in the turban as Myrna. The full version of the Italian theme had me groovin'. Here's part one of the primetime movie in Italian, and a later clip of Myrna and Clarissa talking Julie and Tyler. I love the way Carolyn glide-struts across the room. Claudio had that scene on his site back in the day, I wish he would bring more of his collection to YouTube!
