  1. Marj Dusay's first scene as Myrna. It's interesting how in the Italian dubbed episodes, they always announced Marla Adams as the actress playing Myrna in the episodes where she covered for Carolyn Jones. But when Marj took over, they made no announcement, she was suddenly listed in the opening credits and that was it.
  2. Yes, you're probably right. Geesh, reminds me of how PBS airs two episodes of Eastenders on the weekend, it'll take FOREVER to get through a serial at that pace.
  3. I just caught the tail end of a Sunday episode. Judging by the fashions, the presence of Carolee Campbell, the appearance of Althea, and the closing theme music, I'd think these episodes are from the late '60s. I could be very wrong but hearing that different closing credits music really made me think it was earlier than the '70s
  4. Joan/Jackie biopic info: https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/joan-and-jackie-collins-tv-series-coming-from-stan-ollie-producer.amp
  5. I loved OLTL's "What in the name of Love?" promos in the mid-'90s. This warmed my heart. I just wish it'd had a better outcome. From my own YouTube channel, a trader sent me this years ago on a great tape she edited for me.
  6. Tyler McCandless is Air Force, he's introduced in the primetime premiere flying into Andrews where he's met with a hero's welcome. That got me thinking about his reception at the Capitol which would have aired in daytime the following week. I'd only seen clips, but lo and behold, the full episode (dubbed in Italian) was recently uploaded. The sequence on the Capitol steps with your dad begins at 45:17 💛 Here's a picture:
  7. Yes, I remember this well. They showed a portion of it on the AMC 25th anniversary episode of Oprah when they paid tribute to Mrs. Heflin. Listening to Anton here, he sounds like a young Victor Newman.
  8. It's always a red-letter day when Victoria Wyndham, Susan Lucci, and Joan Collins appear back-to-back in my IG feed. VW even laughed at my lame iris joke re: her garden. She seems to be enjoying a well-earned retirement from television on her beautiful property with her animals. I love her artwork, and I'd gladly make my way up to NY/CT should she ever do a play.
  9. I am so very sorry to hear this. Carmen Duncan was one of those soap actresses I hoped we'd see again, whether she popped up on another soap, daytime or primetime, or even on a Law & Order. I'm so glad that we got that glimpse of her as Lisa on ATWT, but I sure was hoping to see her again. May she rest in peace.
  10. I'm pretty sure this was Sloane and Trey's wedding, I've attached a clip from my YouTube page. The limo and military men starting 23 seconds in. The steps are that of the Jefferson Memorial, rather than the Capitol. Capitol was taped in Los Angeles and it was quite a damper on production as it rained and rained while they were on location in D.C. The groom, Trey, was a congressman, while the bride, Sloane, was the daughter of Sen. Mark Denning. I met Marj Dusay (who played Trey's stepmother, Myrna) years ago and she talked about how they filmed the wedding scenes once inside the memorial in studio in L.A. You can see the noticeable change while watching the clip below. God bless your father, I hope you can spot him! By the way I know nothing about the military but I assumed those were Marines in their dress blues I could be wrong please enlighten me lol That sequence starting at 3:08 gives me chills, so stunning with the Washington Monument poised in the background.
  11. Thanks for the info. So was Jason a crossover character from AW, or did he play another character before his second stint as Ted?
  12. 😍😍😍 Over 30 years ago, and she looks even better today!
  13. Even though Carmen's Australian, it was said that Iris had been living in England. Not unlike Stephanie Beacham and Kate O'Mara, I think Carmen benefited from the shine Joan Collins' Alexis created. AW seemed to borrow a few things from Alexis in crafting Carmen's Iris, who'd previously been a woman of leisure, not a corporate shark. Even her penthouse was practically the exact same layout as Alexis'. Carmen had played an Alexis/Racine (Paper Dolls) type in the Australian Skin Deep, a telefilm/pilot for an Aussie primetime soap that didn't take off.
  14. Yes, we saw the foyer, front door, and staircase with the updated '80s set. Looking at the '70s set, the drawing room is larger and we sometimes see the dining room. When Iris comes over, for example, we hear Louise let her in but never see her at the door. I quite like it actually, hearing voices from the next room.
  15. The actor playing Jason, wasn't he Iris' stepson, Ted? Welcome! Better late than never. 😉 Please continue to share your memories, those of us who weren't around for the golden age of soaps are truly appreciative.
  16. Years ago on the WoST website, a fan of '70s AW said that there was an IATSE issue related to door building. I can't speak to the veracity of this as I'm not on that side of the business. But apparently there was some sort of union snag that necessitated some sets never showing a front door, characters being heard or announced offstage before entering.

I've been watching, I think it's pretty fun. I called it on Tommy Chong and Terry Bradshaw. I'm also guessing Donny Osmond and Gladys Knight. Oh, and Margaret Cho.
  18. Dorian may not have been the eldest, but she certainly was the strongest, and most capable to helm the Cramer clan. Her two sisters suffered with mental illness and were institutionalized for decades. And while Todd got that $20+ million inheritance, Todd's money was not necessarily Blair's money. She did use her newfound wealth to launch Melador and the later company, but I wouldn't venture that her account balance rivaled her aunt's. Dorian had been left her own hefty share of Victor's money and assets. Dorian had that memorable line to Blair about there being two kinds of Cramer women: the fighters and the feelers. Addie, Melinda, and Cassie were the feelers who depended on the fighters, Blair, Kelly, and especially Dorian.
  19. How am I just seeing this?? I'm weeping.
  20. I was obsessed with Robin's Dorian in the nineties. Towards the end of that run, I noticed that she was suddenly gesticulating and using way too much voice for the small screen. She had always been so sexy and cool, the way she'd slither in and out of scenes, and my Dorian had become almost clownish (sadly, for me, she never quite recovered from this and it stuck upon her return a few years later until the character's end). At any rate, a few weeks after I'd noticed this change in Robin's portrayal of Dorian, I called her hotline (as I faithfully did). On this particular recording, she talked about how she never watched herself but decided to do so some weeks back. She found her performance to be lacking in vitality and she swore that she wouldn't let the audience down (as if) ever again, going into every scene with guns blazing. *cringe* 😢 I really wish she had had a director or a good friend to reassure her that she was more than enough and there was no need to crank Dorian up to 11. I know there was a lot going on behind the scenes, she talked about being depressed and unsure of her job position. But it wasn't her acting that needed an adjustment. I look at her scenes from the '80s where she is so cool and calculating, she's divine. But if I'm rationalizing, I guess it makes perfectly good sense that a woman who believed she was responsible for her husband's death for 40 years would unravel into a kooky old lady.
  21. I like all of the above scene picks. Not to derail, but the scenes in the Dynastyverse that I find myself watching over and over again are Sable and Connie's... well-written, well-acted, great dynamic between those two. Over the past few years, I've grown a greater appreciation for Krystle. I love her little strut, she'll just be walking down the hallway leading with those massively padded shoulders and I melt. She was the best when she gave Alexis the business.
  22. My friend did King Lear with him and said that he was an absolute monster. So much so that the cast was not on speaking terms with him. I found this to be so sad and disappointing as I'd always appreciated his work. I read that Beverlee McKinsey wanted him to play Alan after Christopher Bernau left the role.
  23. Folks in this thread seem to be pretty hard on Marj Dusay has Alex. And yet, as much as I adore her, I think the originally intended recast, Robin Strasser, wouldn't have been the right fit. What do you all think?
