  1. I love that picture of him. Of course, what's not to love, his baby blues just about jump out at us! And you mention JVD working hard at OLTL. He was just a hard worker. So many at GL were of a time, maybe, or something, where they just had a strong work ethic. Of course I believe that in general daytimers work harder than anybody else. I believe Joan Collins found that to be true while she was in Springfield.
  2. I doubt very seriously that the general public had any opinion on it.
  3. " I'm just sort of confused as to who was in charge at GL. Whether it was CBS Daytime or Mickey Dwyer-Dobbin (former Executive in Charge of Production for PGP) or the studio. I think they still don't know." - Jerry ver Dorn
  4. Mimi Torchin Shares From Stars & Strikes
  5. Oh, no. And, I can't reach Melissa Scardaville, ex-GL SOD Editor
  6. Well, SB did win 3 Daytime Emmys for Best Show for 3 consecutive years. They had problems with clearance. Many NBC affiliates refused to carry the show & that is killer on statistics. SuBe had similar problems with clearances & both The City & PC did as well. Plus, at SB the Dobsons & the network ended up suing & counter-suing each other after the network wrested control away from the Dobsons & locked them out of their own studio. That kind of chaos & upheaval is never beneficial to the show doing well, consistently. Ratings, schmatings, it was a great soap. The Dobsons were brilliant at GH, ATWT, GL & SB. They were supposed to go HW for AW in 1993 but NBC blocked it.
  7. Opinions, all: Flamingo Road - Morgan Fairchld as Constance Weldon Semple Carlyle The City - Morgan Fairchild as Sydney Chase, Female, Yr 1 (She just stayed the one year.) The City - Jane Elliot as Tracy Quartermaine (married to Soleito but didn't take his name), Female, Yr 2 The City - Roscoe Born (RIP) as Nick Rivers, Male, whole show PC - I cannot do it. Too many people. Too good. Leads changed because of the new method they tried. GEN - Kelly Rutherford as Samantha Whitmore What shows am I not thinking of? I've had great tenure with our short-lived beauties. I didn't see enough of either RH or LOV. I rarely saw Primetime. Is Paper Dolls one in this category? If so, I name Morgan Fairchld a third time! SB - Robin Wright as Kelly Capwell Pacific Palisades - Michelle Stafford as Joanna Hadley
  8. I can assure you he's right that 'Love in the Afternoon' type cover definitely includes a heaving chest. I venture that if she was leaned over anymore forward she would fall on her face! But, good question as to whether they like the way the show uses them now. I mean they were just so glad that the show decided to have them back, that they may just go along, to get along.
  9. Lingering Questions: GL: Pam Long had someone specific in mind for Reva Shayne, not KZ, a redhead, who was it? The question still lingers.
  10. Lingering Questions: DOOL/Y&R: Why does the Corday family corporation own 1% of Y&R? DOOL/Y&R: Many people *guess* that it was a decision that was made between Bill Bell Sr. & Betty Corday when he left DOOL HWing to go do his own new show. Mark Harding @MarkHToo Replying to @shallotpeel I know the first one: To allow Bill Bell to cancel his #Days contract and start #YR, (a) Cordays got a percentage of #YR, and (b) Bill agreed to co-write for a period of years. I don't think this is speculation, but I'd have to go back to sources. Adding: Bell Sr. did HW both shows for a period of 2 years. Mark Harding @MarkHToo · 1h @shallotpeel Source is @michaeljmaloney (2012) “The Young and Restless Life of William J. Bell”, Sourcebooks, Napierville IL, page 76
  11. My unpopular opinion relates to the decline & eventual cancellation of GL. Contributing reasons: Many years when part of the US aired the show at 10 in the morning resulting in fans having a day ahead/day behind factor. Gradual but accumulating decimation of the core Bauer family. Two locations: Springfield & San Cristobel. Two Springfields: The mob/Santos family & the rest of the residents. Too much upheaval in changing EPs & HWs. Battling fanbases including Manny v. Jeva & the da*ned FF button whereby fans actually watched custom editions of the show & not the real show. Murder of Mo. Rauch, MADD, Conboy and Weston. The last factor of my opinion that is unpopular is that it does not contain Wheeler, Hurst, Otalia, Jammy, new production model, new opening, new special shows including Biloxi & other house building locations, Wednesday shows, In the Light, etc.
  12. Back when she was cast as Billie Reed #2 (I think it was #2.) on DOOL, she had done so & it was known out & about in the universe. There were some interesting stills floating around.
  13. Oh yeah, she was a Rockette when she was still a baby. I posted a pic of Maureen Garrett last week with the caption that she looked so young & Maureen came on & posted that she of course looked young that she was just a baby.
  14. For the record, I would love to see Julie get a makeover in costume. Mebbe a compromise on shoes.
  15. She sorta is. She started work when she was still a minor a good long whle ago. Different era, I mean.
  16. I can't be binging it because they're dropping a new episode every Monday night but I'm watching Gentleman Jack on HBOMax & loving it. Hell-o, I wouldn't have time to binge it even if they'd laid the whole new season (2022) out at once.
