I just cannot figure what they are doing staring at each other. Or why he was so stiff & moving awkwardly.

I don't think RC would ever go there. With female characters, yeah. But male characters, no chance. Well, Will's already been with a ... okay a girl. Been there, done that, found another path.

Ratings from the 70's
I've wondered more than once. The idea for the expansion came from NBC & from Fred Silverman, & another programmer there, a woman, named Len somebody, worked first with AW & did a standalone episode for one hour, a wedding, and made plans to go full-time for an hour with the understanding that if it worked they would continue on to DOOL. It worked. They did. Except DOOL's standalone was something else, not a wedding. Then, they did a standalone hour long for THE DOCTORS. Then, the information stops. Fred Silverman was again behind the idea to take AW to 90 minutes. There was a big fight over that. Silverman & Rauch won & Lemay lost & subsequently quit as HW. And, it was an epic failure & the affiliates hated it & blamed AW. So why did they stop & pull up short on their own process of implementation when it came to DOC?!

I thought I remembered him playing Neal somebody on AW so I looked him up. Yes, in 1997 he played Neil Johanssen on AW. I believe he did a fine job & he's very good looking.

I didn't want to say it, but yes. Agreed. Why would Sonny bring in hamburger when he's already got steak on table? 😂😂 I really like Greg R. I really have no interest in Leo. And, as a lesbian I don't always immediately tumble to what y'all are getting at, but this, about the relative appeal of Will & his portrayer, Chandler, is dead on, absolutely the fly in the ointment. Finding someone to be better in any way than Will is gonna be a tall order.

I would hope that along the way they would try to provide more understanding. Lots of people maintain that they simply do not understand pan, omni or bi, even. However, I also think that at times that "I don't understand." really sounds like "I do not approve of people who will not make a simple decision: Penis or Vagina." I know that when RonC used that line with Paulina & Chanel that he said he had to fight to keep the line in. Maybe Peacock will not need to have so many fights!

Y&R: Old Articles
I know that one thing for Flannery was that she did not want to work on an hour show & DOOL was going to an hour. B&B was not going to expand. If I have my dates right, she even worked a bit at an hour long DOOL but she was wanting to leave that whole time. Here is the Flannery quote that pertains. In November 2009, Emmy winner Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B) shared in an exclusive interview with We Love Soaps what her thoughts were on the change to the hour format on DAYS OF OUR LIVES: "I said to them, 'I’m glad I’m leaving. It’s so rushed that you’re no longer in control of your performance. And that doesn’t make me happy.' So I did the first six weeks when the show launched for an hour. That’s the reason I agreed to do BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL [a half-hour show]. I like that form. That was Bill's favorite form too. He hated the hour. He thought they had to pad too much story."- We Love Soaps Net Now I have NO idea why they are talking about the network expansion to an hour in Nov. 2009, but it is that period in the 70s that they are talking about. And, for the record Bill Bell Sr. was forced by CBS to go to an hour with Y&R. AW went first willingly, then DOOL, also willing, then they made a deal with Agnes (the carrot of studio space) and an ultimatum for Bell (the stick).

It looked like a little old lady rain bonnet but it was actually a frosting or highlights cap. You put the chemicals on the hair & then you enclose the hair in plastic to let it heat up & then you can wash & rinse. But, why would you go some place with that on your head?!! You wouldn't. You'd stay home till it was done! So you mean you just normalize them by having them sin, or make mistakes. They're just human, after all. Is that the M.O.? So, don't we need a larger pool of gay guys?

DAYS: October 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
Tuesday, October 4, Cast: Nancy, Craig, Doug, Julie, Gwen, Jenn, Leo, Jack, Stephanie, Chad, Paulina, Mike. We begin with Nancy on the phone to someone. It looks like she has a rain bonnet on her head but really she's getting her highlights done & it's a frosting cap. Craig comes in with flowers - daisies & roses. Doug & Julie are at Laura's grave. They've already been to Abigail's. They've laid flowers on the graves & prayed & talked to their loved ones. Julie says she is at least pleased that Clyde Weston is on his way back to prison. In Gwen's room at the hospital, she's awake & talking to herself, when her door opens & Jennifer Rose comes in. Gwen has a flashback to getting hit & how she now remembers seeing Jenn at the wheel. Back at Jenn's house, Leo approaches Jack. He says that Jenn needs to make restitution in the form of a check with many zeros. At Gwen's room, Jenn speaks, saying she's not there to hurt Gwen but to tell her how very sorry she is. Chad visits with Stephanie. He remembers days when it was first about the press releases before anything else could get done. Stephanie's more than a little worried. Chad offers to help. He feels like he hasn't accomplished anything in weeks. He reminds Stephanie that he is technically unemployed. Jennifer Rose goes on to say that at first she didn't remember anything. She was in a black out. She doesn't even know how she got home. But, she does remember now that she hit Gwen & she is so sorry. She hasn't been able to concentrate. Jenn is truly all over the place. It is hard to follow what she's saying. Gwen asks her outright, have you no memory of hitting someone with your car & then leaving the scene of that accident? She finds that hard to believe! Just then Paulina roars up, at full volume, telling Stephanie she should fire her. Does she realize the election is only a month away? She hasn't even gotten the first flyers out! Stephanie tells her she can get them out in no time just as soon as they finish their talk. Chad decides to be useful & tells Paulina that Stephanie's mother is in the hospital & it's very serious. Paulina makes the appropriate remarks about caring about her mother, etc. And, then Stephanie thinks to introduce Chad. She had no idea he was a DiMera. They begin to talk about the work to do there. We go back to Jenn's house where Jack is again roaring at Leo to get the hell out of his house! He says it was an accident! At the cemetery Michael has just walked up. Doug & Julie are so glad to see him. It has been so long! Julie & Mike embrace! Jenn makes a sudden decision to do something drastic - to go to the police station & confess & turn herself in. Gwen is surprised to hear this. But, really she says you don't know what prison is like. You would not get anything accomplished from there. And, what about your addiction? Jenn says she's sure they have programs. Gwen tells her they are not what you'd want to depend on. Further she says that Jenn has been generous to let her be in Jack's life. And, she wouldn't want to take Jenn from Jack. Craig & Nancy discuss whether they can be anything to each other anymore. They decide they each have the right to try to find real love & romance again. Everyone who can disperse begins to & at that moment Nancy runs almost into Mike. They are staring at each other. And, the show is over. Scott McKinsey was the Director today.

Yes! She & Brad just lapsed into Cantonese & then out of it, whoosh, smooth as silk. You're not far behind. Finally, I liked Carly with Drew for the first time, today. He came out of the shower, still dripping wet in just a towel & LW played it almost embarrassed she was so overcome with his body. Very delicate. Yeah. I wonder. I was flabbergasted that she pushed Kevin to change his plans & do an impromptu session with her.

Oh, you're so right. They did her right. For once they didn't screw up! And, I loved when Sasha went off her gourd on live TV that Serena Wu was there & walked right into a messy situation & sorted it out in mere minutes! Then last week they spoke Cantonese! I am enjoying seeing Kristina. She was funny today. Sonny asks her a rhetorical question where she is supposed to be listening to his every word & instead she replies, NO. 🤣🤣🤣 Perfect. Oh, good. Maybe they'll cut us some slack Who is Jake? I gather she's supposed to be Finn's former, deceased wife, Reicko. I don't get what that means yet.

General Hospital: September 2022 Discussion Thread
I just continue to love Serena Wu & for once I think I'm with the Majority position. Lotta folk seem to like her. Victor just makes me uneasy. He's around Lucy & I become fearful for her. He's around Kristina & I fret & worry. If he can be so horrendous about Charlotte & Val, what might he be to lesser souls?! I am so pleased that they are on track finally. Not sure what that track is gonna be but we will see as we go. I feel perverse but I just want them to off someone I want offed! I mean, is that too much to ask?!! Austin & Mason are my next 2 choices. Over Carly's story? I don't follow. We've had this remarkable wallpaper in the Holiday Inn & we've also had Linda Purl trying to sell an appalling Southern accent. Now we've got Carly making faces at Drew dripping wet with only a towel on! This is shaping up. Did you know that Vivien Leigh claimed that STREETCAR "tipped her over" into mental illness? It's a wonder she didn't sue TN Williams! One big question in my head: is this a set up for Cyrus to save Young Master Spencer?

At that rate I cannot imagine what you spend the money on when it builds up!!! Something ... tiny, I am sure! 🙉🙈🙊 I thought it was pretty good. The always value of Will & Sonny. Feeling like you want to smack Alex, Leo, Gwen & Sarah! That's 4 good adrenaline imaginings! People acting like they live in a soap. I count that large! No devil, no mask, no FrankenStefan, ... adds up!

Recasts on shows: good, bad, in between
OMG. I was gonna say anyone besides Robin Wright for Kelly Capwell is the worst but Susan Batten ewwww really is worst of all! I'll never think of dusting blinds the same way again.

Recasts on shows: good, bad, in between
Personally I think Cady has been a best recast 3 times, at 3 shows: Dixie, Rosanna & now Jennifer Rose. They were both very very good but I also really liked Scott Bryce & Scott Holroyd. Very very good but I have to raise a hand for Susan Seaforth-Hayes. She was Julie #4 but she's been Julie for 50 yrs! Totally agree! Of course, I pretty much think Danny Cosgrove could play any part you put in front of him. Very versatile guy. And Jeff had to overcome my dislike of him from his character at AMC! Gina & Esme are just terrific.

I feel like we've uncovered an imposter restauranteur! I don't think any of them was underrated. Eve had lots of story & adoring fans! Nick also had lots of story & was a favorite of many. And, Boom Boom? Gosh, she was huge! I think they're all 3 great characters, B list, not A, and celebrating them is a fine idea.

I find that I agree with everything you just said, to the nth degree! Wow, that is rare. Leo deserves to be dealt with harshly. He just skates on things constantly. And, Sonny has not been in the wrong. How far are they willing to go to try to make Alex look better? I would suggest that they need to have Alex BE better. On the one hand I can see why Sarah is put out with Gwen. But, she's just so snarky. Even when she is sorta on the right side of a question, her manner is so off-putting. But, with Gwen it's weird because Gwen is another one with an off putting manner! Put the two of them in scenes too much & everyone will just feel cranky!

DAYS: October 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
Monday, October 3, 2022 Be warned if you do not want to be spoiled. Sonny's in his hospital bed when Will comes in with good news from Sarah, that Sonny is doing so well he can go home today or tomorrow. With Clyde being transferred back to prison the coast should be clear. Jennifer is on the phone to Mike & she says she will make travel arrangements. Oh, Jenn is going to check herself into a rehab. Gwen is just awake & is remembering walking out of the police station, being hit with bright lights & then, she loses the thought. Sarah has just come into her room. She wants them to talk! What is on Sarah's mind is when Gwen got out of prison, wore a Sarah mask & tried to get Sarah into trouble so she'd be sent away. Gwen's not very receptive to the conversation. Leo comes in with flowers, to Sonny's room. Neither Will nor Sonny is glad to see him. He says that they saved his life & he will be eternally grateful. Sounds like it is costing him dearly to say these things. Now we're at the Pub where Jack is waiting to get some chowder to take it to Gwen. No one has any leads on the driver of the hit and run. Sarah is glad she's awake. They're going to be running more tests later on. Sarah says they should talk about Gwen having her hidden away & maybe gaslighting her to get to have Xander for herself. Stephanie is on the phone in the open area beside the Nurses's desks. "Joey, you just heard Mom tell you she's okay. Stop calling here every 5 minutes." Alex walks up, "Stephanie, what's wrong?" Leo says if it had not been for your smelling the vanilla on Clyde I would be rotting in prison for something I did not do. Now he'd like his job back at Titan. Sonny is incredulous that he would ask after falsely accusing Sonny of sexual harassment! Leo says he does not remember that. Will remembers! As Leo is leaving he says they are a cute couple, even though he personally is partial to brunettes. (In other words, he likes Sonny & doesn't like Will.) Chad comes in & Jenn is crying some. (She shed real tears today, which should make some fans happy.) He has heard the end of her conversation & asks if I she's going somewhere. She tells him she's going to rehab & that her brother is affiliated with a hospital in NY where they are holding a bed for her. She tells him she lets herself get addicted to pills again. She relapsed. He is concerned & sorry & feels like he leaned on her too much & wasn't there for her. Jenn says that at least they now have justice for Abigail. That it's not enough but at least it is something. Chad reveals to her that he saw Abigail & talked to her & now he knows he needs to be strong. Jack says they have nothing on the driver of the hit and run yet. The cameras on that side of the building were not working that night. Something about budget cuts. So, back to what Sarah wants. She says that Gwen attacked Abby wearing a Sarah mask. What was that about? Was it just revenge? What has she, Sarah, ever done to Gwen to cause her to act like that? Gwen says that she did everything in her power to try to get Xander away from Sarah for herself. Congrats to you & I am sorry. Sarah says she can see in her eyes that she is not sorry! What I see there is bitterness. Gwen says that whatever the case may be she will now & forever stay away from Sarah & Xander. Alex seems to be on a tear with Stephanie. He says she made it clear that they couldn't even have a lunch together. That they could not be friends. That they could only be colleagues. He gives her the numbers for the quarter & adds that they're not good. Will has to take a work call. They want him to come there. The client's golden doodle has to meet Will & approve of him or they won't get signed contracts. Back to Jenn's living room where she says to Chad, so you communicated with Abby? She tells him that she also saw Abby, right there in that room & then Abby went with her in the car. She sheds tears crying again. Jack sort of blurts out that he thinks it was Jenn who hit Gwen. Leo is visiting Gwen. He brought her two chocolate covered somethings but he ate one himself. All of a sudden Gwen remembers what she saw after the bright light! It was Jennifer's face behind the wheel of the car! Sonny reminds Will that he followed his dream of being CEO of Titan by staying in Salem. Will needs to go now to follow his dream. He & Ari can come visit him & he can come back home to visit & they will always be here for him. Alex enters Sonny's room & the two of them begin to bicker immediately. Jenn is crying again. She says she can't believe she left herself relapse, that she let so many people down, that she lied to Jack, etc. Chad tries to get her off the tack of feeling angry at herself by telling her that he thinks Abby would like it if they stayed close & that they are family to each other. They embrace, say they are family & that they love each other. Xander says to Jack, you think she hit Gwen? Why? He explains that she had begun using drugs again. Oh, no. Jack asks himself why he didn't see it? So, Xander asks Jack why he thinks that. Jack tells him she's been abusing pills again. Why didn't he see it? Xander says well you did & he says that NO, Gwen caught her & told him. Back in Gwens' room & all of a sudden she remembers what she saw right after the bright light hit her - it was Jenn behind the wheel. She was driving! Gwen says we are going to expose her but Leo says no, they're going for blackmail as neither of them has a job! Jack is looking for Jenn when he sees Leo waiting for him. Jenn goes into Gwen's room.
