Okay, I've watched today's show, the whole thing. PHilton? Nothing.

I have that whole episode. I cut it the way I did because I have this jerkwad who keeps reporting my YT acct for DAYS copyright infringement. But, I can do another edit of Brenda Benet, no problem! I'm back. I was wrong. I don't have the rest of this episode. I forgot this was one of 3 episodes where the Audio & Video were out of synch & we were lucky to get this one clip out of it. You should see the reel I have of Anne Heche on AW completely destroying a public restroom at the courthouse in Bay City!!!!

DAYS 6-11-24 Kayla: I am just so tired of all the secrecy. ... So, the plan was to frame Konstantin for embezzling? ... You just left me in the dark, again. As most of you know I have watched DAYS forever. And, I watch GH which I began in the early 90s. In general I much prefer GH although I am critical of both of my shows. Today, on DAYS, was the first day in YEARS when I have pretty much treated the episode similar to the way I daily treat GH. I took copious notes. I got some dialog down word for word. I thoroughly appreciated the men folk posturing & bragging & thinking they were very important in what had gone down. Xander, Brady & Alex. Also appreciated Kayla & Steve. I also really liked Xander's speech to Victor's portrait. Also appreciated John's sudden desire to go to Greece to pay his respects.

My current DAYS re-watching is 1991 & that is, help me soap Jesus, both Kayla & Shane, ARGH, and it is Molly & Tanner. If you don't know Tanner Scofield was, I think, ME's first job. And, the only thing I would choose to say in polite company about ME then compared to ME now is that back then his hair was appropriate.

Picking back up, Back to Helen Wagner & Suzanne Rogers: Wagner, ATWT, 1956-2010, 54 years but a gap from 1981-1984, so 54-3 = 51 years Suzanne, DAYS, 1973-2024, 55 years but a gap from 1984-1985, so 55-1= 54 years We don't know how many episodes for Wagner. Right now, Suzanne is at 3,101 episodes & you recall that Deidre surpassed 5000 episodes last year. Already been discussing this, ... now you are up to date.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I had in my mind that it was something like this. Wholesale firings like that, gee, that seems so self-destructive, to me at least. It's as if in an attempt to put your own people in place, you throw out history, perspective, and probably much more. Dan & Chris always seemed somehow thin to me, in their story-telling. Perhaps it came from the whole writing team being strangers to GH. It makes Korte all the more important to the show. And, the point has certainly just been made. GH has won many Emmys in the past 15 years but this was the first time in 15 years that they won for Writing. i blame them for being undisciplined, for example, not deciding on a story's conclusion up front but instead making it up as they went along. This applied to Peter, to the Hook, etc. Kirsten Storms recently said that when she was with Peter she was pregnant for a year.

I find also in writing about these subjects, I employ adjectives, qualifiers like "US daytime" or "primetime" or "English-speaking" ... and that is because I deal with fans of US daytime, US primetime, British & Australian soaps. Words help. And, you are making an important point! Also, in a blog of mine I write: We did not start from scratch & create the TV soap. No, first came the radio soap. That began in the ’30s and lasted well through the ’50s with overlap while radio & TV both were airing soaps. GL even aired the same basic script in the morning for radio & down the block to another building, for the TV version in the afternoon. When people first came up with the idea for TV soaps there was fear that they wouldn’t work. They were new & the status quo was very successful. As it turned out the new type of soap was even more successful than the original, which is saying quite a lot. Irna Phillips was the mother of the radio soap & so she also became the mother of the TV soap. The TV soap definitely owes a debt of gratitude to the radio soap & the creators of the new medium definitely stood on the shoulders of the original medium. I realize this is going further than what you are saying.

Who are you speaking of, writers that were jettisoned? And, the thing is there were so many times when D&C didn't have any ideas, none at all! And, so many other times their ideas were just drek. Like, after the strike, they had zero ideas. They went around the studio, from dept. head to dept. head, trying to pick their brains, looking for something to write about. I mean, those people all had jobs to do & were doing them & D&C are, like blah blah blah, yack yack yack & FINALLY, they have a thought, it's a default position but at least it is a thought & that is, "I KNOW Let's have Chase propose to Brook Lynn! And, that is how this new married couple came to be. I don't mean to be a downer. But, I guess I am still smarting from the treatment Patrick received when he is one who is just filled with ideas, because his ideas, stem from character, families, backstories, IOW, inherency!!!

Arguably the worst! I challenge you, who was worse? Okay, 2 people accepted my challenge & they say Sonny & Emily Jason & Courtney I dunno.

GH OMG!!! NOOOO. My eyes. I can never unsee that. They inflicted a Fizzle Fazzle montage on us. Cruelty beyond measure. This day now goes down in GHInfamy!!! Why was I not warned?!! Have I no true friends?!!! I guess it was the price we had to pay for Liz to finally be freeeeee! I totally hate Becky with helmet hair & knowing that it's because of continuity that we can't have her great curls makes me pretty crazy. Why can't we have nice things? Because Frank likes to shoot way the hell out of order, worse than movies!!

I wondered about gaps. I was sure there were some! So Helen Wagner, 54 years minus 3, 51 years. Suzanne Rogers, 55 years minus 1, 54 years. What amazing legacies!

Interesting idea. I can see what you mean. Well, I know of one pairing she feels strongly about & she told a fan who is a friend of mine that it would not be happening, which could of course mean the show doesn't want it also. And, that would be a return to Sonny & Carly, again. I feel like a lot of people are over that, though! How many times have they already gotten back together? 3? Been there, done that. Can we move on?!! As it is she has to play friend/helper to him & for him. I know she & Finola, she & Steve, she & Jagger and she & Brennan enjoy scenes together. But, she is truly a team player.

Bridget Reardon was in some ways the Sami Brady prototype. OMG! SO obvious. I never tumbled to that!!! Of course. I think Conboy wanted her as Myrna Claig on Capitol. Since I didn't care at all about 80s GL, I wish that she had returned to AW as Iris. Capitol makes sense. I'm with you, though. I really really wish she'd returned to AW & Iris. SIGH.

I thought about mentioning the idea that the racists are harder on Taby because of her beautiful dark skin, but just didn't. I do think it is a factor, though. I'm just so disgusted with it, the open, overt racism. I'd like it very much if they'd crawl back into the holes they must dwell in & also I'd like it if about 90% of the "rumors" would go visit their relatives in Peoria!

You said it was implied. Just because something is in a script does not necessarily mean that is what made it on air. I count fan accounts as evidence. We're probably going to need to just agree to disagree. Although it's not that I consider my mind closed.

Rampant rumors & so many of them are literally certain people making sh*t up & calling it rumor or info, etc. It's not a good place to be if you don't know who is who, etc.

At the time in the United States there were 3 states where abortion had been ruled on by the state legislatures & deemed to be legal. Those states were New York, Florida & Hawaii. In both Florida & in Hawaii this applied ONLY to residents. Only New York state had no residency requirement. The reason Erica wanted her husband to arrange for her to do it right, IOW travel to New York state, is obvious, because it was both legal & available to her if she traveled there. It was the understanding here that he did not arrange it so she did it locally, which would have made it NOT a legal abortion.

I agree it was a pretty solid show. I even appreciated it. Of course, I am so happy to be done with Konstantin. Good bye! Good riddance! I enjoyed John & Steve pretending to bicker. John being triggered IMO was lame. I thought it was a bit odd that Justin, Bonnie, Sarah & Maggie were apart from the rest, upstairs in Maggie's room. Maggie & Justin had good stuff but so did Justin with Bonnie. I did wonder, though, about Bonnie's perspective. How is she in a position to know that Alex is Justin's son in every way that matters. Adrienne would know that. Would Bonnie?!!!

As far as I can tell they seem to be racists. On occasion there will be someone who questions her acting ability, but that is subjective & can come up about anyone. From what I can tell about last weekend it began with someone rudely criticizing the way she looked in that blue gown. One of the people involved has a body of posts where she is clearly racist. In general though she is a fan favorite!
